Chapter 131 Let's Get a Divorce!
Ryder glanced at the building. He had a vague feeling that something wasn't quite right.
Today at The Pint House, he had made Aaron suffer a lot during lunch. Knowing Aaron well, Ryder knew that this bastard wouldn't just let it go. Who knows what trouble he might cause! But since Ryder had already decided to teach Aaron a lesson at lunch, he wasn't afraid!
He went up the stairs, arrived at his front door, and opened it. As soon as the door opened, Ryder sensed a heavy atmosphere in the living room.
Aaron was lying on the sofa across from him, groaning in pain. Beside the sofa, Sarah's parents looked anxious. Karen was administering medicine to Aaron while shedding tears. Standing behind them was a helpless Sarah.
Upon seeing Ryder enter, Karen didn't even think twice before grabbing the remote control from the coffee table and throwing it at him! Ryder dodged to the side, and the remote control hit the door frame, causing the batteries inside to fly out.
Karen angrily shouted at Ryder, "You bastard! You disgrace, how dare you come back to this family!"
Ryder remained expressionless and didn't say a word, which only made Karen even more furious.
She yelled at him while grabbing her neck, "You've been crossing the line more and more recently. Our family has been providing for you, and this is how you repay us? You let Aaron get beaten like this, why don't you just die?" As she finished speaking, Aaron hurriedly groaned a few times, as if telling everyone about his painful experience.
At this moment, Sarah looked at Ryder with a cold tone and asked, "I just came back from the company and I'm not quite familiar with the situation. Can you tell me why you treated Aaron this way?"
"I..." Ryder was about to answer, but Aaron interrupted and took over, saying to Sarah, "Listen to me! This is what happened..."
He glared at Ryder with a resentful look and continued, "Today, I followed your orders to attend the opening ceremony, and everything was going smoothly until lunchtime. That's when I ran into this servant! Can you guess what he did? He actually tried to sneak into The Pint House to get a free meal, but he was kicked out by the hotel's receptionist."
"Seeing how pitiful he looked, what could I do? I kindly brought him in, thinking he would just have a meal and leave. It wasn't a big deal!"
"But I never expected this guy to behave in such a manner! He looked down on our table and insisted on sitting at Table 1! Can you believe it? Table 1 is reserved for important figures in Houston. Does he even deserve to sit there?"
"Well, Scott's granddaughter, Cara, stepped up to oppose him sitting at Table 1. But Ryder was not willing to back down. He talked about being the husband of the new CEO of SR Group and how powerful he is in Houston, insisting on sitting at Table 1!"
"Not only that, he even insulted Cara, saying she had a scandalous personal life and became someone else's mistress! This angered her brother, Nathan, who wanted to beat Ryder up with his friends."
"Although I dislike this servant, I had to maintain our family's reputation, so I confronted them and it escalated into a physical conflict!"
"What hurt me the most is that he ran away at a critical moment, leaving me to fight against several people alone. Sob..."
Aaron finished his tearful account.
Karen, furious, said to Sarah, "Listen to this! These are the actions of a good-for-nothing person! This is the man you brought home! Can't you do something about it?"
Sarah clenched her teeth.
Although Aaron's words made sense, based on the three years they had known each other, she believed she had a reasonable understanding of Ryder. He was not someone who liked to stir up trouble!
Instead of scolding Ryder, she asked him, "Are Aaron's claims true?"
Ryder calmly responded, "It's nonsense!"
Sarah turned her head and said to Karen, "Mom! I think we should discuss this matter thoroughly. It's not entirely Ryder's fault!"
Upon hearing this, Karen exploded, gripping her waist and shouting, "Sarah, what's the matter with your eyes? Look at what happened to your brother! And you're still defending that good-for-nothing? If I had known you would turn out to be such an ungrateful woman, I would have aborted you instead of giving birth to you. I should have gone to the hospital and had you removed!"
Sarah, with tears in her eyes, argued, "Mom! Can't you be more reasonable? I'm also worried about Aaron being beaten, but until we figure out the whole truth, we can't place all the blame on Ryder!"
Karen, being unreasonable, said, "The truth is that this good-for-nothing is at fault! 100% of it is his responsibility! He bullied my kind and humble son!"
Aaron also agreed, "Every word I just said is true. If there's a single lie, let me go out and be..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Karen covered his mouth with her hand.
Crying, wiping her tears, she said, "Child! Don't say such things about yourself. If someone really deserves to get hit by a car outside, it's that useless scoundrel!"
"Mom! Can't you calm down? Can't we sit down and talk things through?" Sarah continued persuading.
"No!" Karen stubbornly said, "Sarah! Today, I'm only giving you two options. First: Stop defending this worthless person and divorce him tomorrow, kicking him out of the house. Second: If you continue your relationship with him, from today onwards, we will cut the mother-daughter bond. This house will no longer belong to you!"
Sarah choked and continued to try reason with her mother, "Mom! Can't you calm down? Don't say such things!"
"I don't care. Today, you must make a choice. If you don't make a choice, I... I'll jump out of the window! And when I'm dead, it will be because of your incompetence!"
Karen was about to rush towards the window!
Ernest immediately held Karen's waist, trying to pull her back.
At the same time, panicked, he shouted to Sarah, "It's come to this! Make a choice quickly, or do you really want to see your mom out of the building?"
It must be said that this move was effective!
Sarah finally couldn't bear the pressure anymore, she grabbed her hair and shouted, "Enough!!! Is my happiness not enough? Stop forcing me! Fine! I will decide now."
Karen immediately stopped running towards the window.
With a cold tone, she said, "Then make your choice quickly!"
Sarah sobbed, first glanced at her parents and Aaron, then turned her head to look at Ryder.
Her heart ached with each beat.
After several seconds of silence, she opened her mouth sorrowfully and said to Ryder, "I'm sorry... we... let's get a divorce!"
