Chapter 511 The Six Great Families!
The next day.
New York City, the headquarters of Maple Group!
A towering 50-story office building, housing over 6,000 employees!
Here in New York, Maple Group's main ventures include real estate, dining, entertainment, and tourism!
The caliber of talent across these industries and the sheer volume of business reports are on a whole different level compared to Maple Real Estate back in Houston!
Early in the morning, Ryder completed the official inauguration ceremony at the group headquarters!
And hosted a large meeting!
The main attendees were the group's top brass and middle management from all the different business divisions!
After last night's events, these execs were totally on board with Ryder during the meeting!
Whatever Ryder said, they nodded along; whatever Ryder asked, they answered promptly!
No one dared to play any tricks!
So the whole meeting wrapped up smoothly in three hours!
Ryder then headed back to his office for a quick breather.
The CEO's office is on the top floor, and the space is roughly 2,000 square feet.
Besides the usual office setup, it's got a private bathroom, a dining area, a lounge, and more. It basically has everything you need!
Right now, in the office, it was just Ryder and Scott, sitting face-to-face.
Scott gave Ryder a satisfied grin: "You nailed inheriting Maple Group in just a few months. Your old man would be proud!"
Ryder kept it cool. "This is just the start. New York's a whole different beast—way tougher than Houston."
Scott nodded: "Yeah, New York's a whole different game. Let me give you the lowdown. Once a city hits a certain level, everyone flocks to New York to take things up a notch, which means the city's packed with entrepreneurial dynasties. Out of all of them, six families stand out—the Newmans, the Wolfs, the Ingrams, the Moores, the Youngs, and the Weavers. These guys have been in New York forever, got deep connections and serious cash. There's a clear split in power. Two of them, the Newmans and the Wolfs, are the heavyweights, with assets and hidden wealth clocking in at least 20 billion each. But the other four are no slouches either, sitting on at least $10 billion apiece."
Ryder nodded, having a rough understanding of the strength of these families!
In the country, there has always been a Forbes list ranking the wealthy.
But after coming into contact with the real upper class, you will find that this list is just to fool ordinary people!
Because there are many hidden wealthy people and dignitaries in the country who do not want to be on the list.
Keeping your wealth under wraps is just common sense.
Otherwise, why would the current top lister draw so much hate and backlash?
Besides their own screw-ups, there's a whole crowd out there who just can't stand the rich—anyone with more cash than them is fair game for a takedown!
Scott went on, "Out of these six families, you've already crossed paths with two—the Youngs and the Weavers!"
Ryder gave a nod.
The Youngs? No surprise there—that's Tyler's family, the little punk.
No wonder he acted like he owned the place when he rolled into Houston. Being part of one of New York's top-tier families, he's got that cocky streak baked in.
As for the Weavers, Ryder knew that was Dylan's crew.
They're the powerhouse behind ZD Group, raking in the big bucks.
But from what's been floating around, the Weavers are a mess right now—family drama on steroids.
The next generation is clawing at each other for control, and Dylan's right in the thick of it.
Though, he's not exactly winning that fight, which is probably why they shipped him off to Houston to cool his heels.
Scott sighed. "These six families have been running the show in New York for over two decades, playing nice, keeping things balanced, forming alliances, and pulling in other players. It's a tightrope act. But ever since Maple Group moved its HQ here, that balance's been wobbling. Maple's asset scale is on par with a first-tier family, and since it's all under one owner, folks in the city are calling it the 'fifth first-tier family.' That's put the six families on edge—they've got their own agendas when it comes to Maple. You'll need to tread carefully with them moving forward!"
Ryder gave a nod to that.
Out of all these families, how things will play out with most of them is still up in the air—but one thing's set in stone: the Youngs.
Tyler got his ass handed to him back then, and there's no way he's letting that slide.
It's only a matter of time before he comes looking for payback.
But Ryder's always been the type to roll with the punches.
Bring it on—he'll handle it when it comes.
Right now, in a swanky private club in New York City, inside a VIP room that screamed exclusivity, a group of young guys and girls were living it up.
Cards, cigs, booze, and some serious PDAs were all part of the scene.
Everyone was decked out in designer threads, and the table was loaded with top-shelf drinks and gourmet bites you couldn't find anywhere else—straight-up imported luxuries.
Among this crew, one guy was clearly calling the shots: Tyler.
He was planted right in the middle of the couch, a barely dressed bombshell on each arm.
Both were total knockouts, but anyone paying attention could tell their looks and curves were courtesy of a surgeon's handiwork.
The others in the private room were all rich kids from Tyler's circle!
No one with less than $200 million in assets could enter their circle!
Just then, a dude glued to his phone piped up, "Yo, something's fishy. Where's Billy's video? He swore yesterday he'd drop that prank on the broke folks today. Still nada."
Across from him, a girl rolled her eyes and shot back, "You serious? Haven't you heard? Billy's family's in deep shit right now."
"Deep shit how?" The crew turned to her, all ears.
Even though Billy wasn't one of their crew, he was still part of the rich kid scene, so they knew who he was!
The girl shrugged, "Last night, Billy tried pulling one of his stupid pranks on some poor guy, but guess what? He messed with the new CEO of Maple Group. His dad got busted for a ton of shady stuff and was hauled off to the cops."
"Holy crap, is that true? The chairman of Maple Group is a big deal. Who's this new guy? Any deets?"
"Zilch, but rumor has it his name's Ryder, straight outta Houston."
Tyler, lounging on the couch and barely listening, suddenly snapped to attention, his eyes sharp.
