Chapter 424 Borrowing Money

After they got to the First Hospital in Houston, Ryder, George, Rex, and Ryan plopped down on the sofa near the hospital bed in the fancy ward.

Josh, who had just woken up, was lying there.

His forehead and arms were all bandaged up, and his eyes were a bit red.

He had just listened to George recount everything that went down while he was out cold.

Especially when he heard that Ryder made Mark apologize to him in front of everyone at Mark's casino, he got all fired up!

Mark, the guy he used to look up to!

Mr. Clark actually put himself on the line to stand up to Mark for him. That was something else!

And now, with Mark, the big bad wolf of Houston, out of the picture, and a new boss in town, it meant his choice to follow Ryder was spot on.

Maybe this whole accident had some silver lining after all!

Right then, Ryder stood up.

He put a stack of papers on the small table next to the bed and grinned, "Sign these. Once you're out of here, I need you to handle it!"

"This is..." Josh glanced at the title of the documents.

His eyes went wide!

The papers stated that Josh was being handed the management rights of "Kenneth Vacation Villa," making him the second boss after Ryder and entitled to a 20% cut of the profits.

Kenneth Vacation Villa was a project that Kenneth had poured seven to eight hundred million dollars into, out in the Houston suburbs. It was all set to open!

Industry folks were saying that once the resort opened, it was a guaranteed moneymaker.

At that point, not just seven to eight hundred million dollars, but even seven to eight billion dollars would be worth it!

Now, Mr. Clark was giving him such a huge opportunity to manage, and he'd get a 20% profit share, which was way better than running a karaoke bar!

"Mr. Clark, I don't even know what to say. You've put so much trust in me, and I'm worried I might let you down!" Josh's face was a mix of excitement and worry.

Ryder just smiled. "I'm giving it to you because I trust you. You'll do a great job! If you run into any problems, just let me know anytime!"

Josh's eyes filled with tears of excitement as he choked out, "Mr. Clark! I won't let you down and will repay your kindness!"

Ryder patted Josh on the shoulder, telling him to focus on getting better, and that all the big plans could wait until he was out of the hospital!

Then he left the hospital with George and the others.

Josh had just woken up and was still weak, needing more rest!

The doctor said Josh's internal organs were fine, but his arm and ribs had fractures and dislocations.

He was expected to be discharged soon!

The reason Ryder gave such an important project to Josh was because of Josh's loyalty, having proven himself time and again!

Plus, society was cracking down on "gray" forces more and more.

George was already transitioning, and if Josh kept running the King's Bar, it was only a matter of time before something went wrong.

Giving him a legit business opportunity was also good for him!

Just as Ryder and the crew were leaving, someone stepped in and blocked Ryder's way!

Ryder was a bit surprised when he saw who it was.

It was Andy!

"You're out?" Ryder asked straight up.

Andy nodded, still looking a bit salty. "I need to talk to you!"

Ryder stayed cool. "What is it? Here for revenge? If so, go ahead and do it now!"

Andy’s eye twitched at that!

Rex and George, Ryder's bodyguards, were giving Andy the death stare. If he tried anything, he'd regret it real quick!

Revenge was on his mind, but not right now!

After a few seconds, Andy finally spoke up, "I need to borrow $10 million from you!"

George frowned and snapped, "What are you thinking? After what you did to Mr. Clark, it's already generous we're not seeking revenge. Don't push your luck, or you'll face the consequences!"

George's words made Andy shrink back, not daring to look him in the eye.

He sneaked a glance at Ryder to see his reaction.

Ryder stayed calm and asked with a smile, "If I lend you the money, what do I get in return?"

"I..." Andy hesitated, then gritted his teeth and said, "When I inherit the Johnson family, half of the family's assets will be yours! Deal?"

Ryder shook his head and said, "You made two mistakes. First, do you, a scoundrel, even have the qualifications to inherit the Johnson family? Second, I'm not interested in the small benefits of the Johnson family!"

Andy felt humiliated!

This was the best offer he could think of.

He had tried everything, but raising $10 million before Heather's birthday was impossible.

So, he had to swallow his pride and ask Ryder for help!

After all, the enemy of his enemy is his friend!

Getting rid of that scumbag Lawrence was the priority!

Pride could wait!

Andy got desperate. "Then what do you want?"

Ryder's lips curled into a sly smile. "I want you, of course!"

Andy froze, instinctively covering his butt, thinking Ryder was hitting on him!

But Ryder quickly added, "I want you to sing and dance at your grandmother's 70th birthday party. When I say sing, you sing. Do that, and your $10 million debt is gone!"

Andy looked shocked. "Is it that simple?"

Ryder nodded seriously.

Andy shook his head, suspicious. "There must be a catch! How could there be such a good deal? I don't believe it!"

Ryder shrugged. "If you don't believe it, go borrow money elsewhere!"

With that, Ryder started to leave.

Andy clenched his fists, gritted his teeth, and hurriedly stopped Ryder. "Wait! I agree! Singing and dancing? That's too easy! Not just one song, even eight songs are no problem!"

He extended his hand to Ryder, signaling for the money.

Ryder had Rex grab some paper and a pen from the car and had Andy write a promissory note.

If he didn't fulfill Ryder's request, not only would he have to repay the $10 million, but he would also have to pay an additional ten times the penalty!

Andy, of course, signed it with a flourish!

Ryder kept the promissory note and transferred $10 million to Andy!

Andy, upon receiving the money, was overjoyed and ran off humming a tune!
