Chapter 316 You Better Be More Careful!

Scott poured Ryder a cup of coffee and nodded. "You're right. I came here today because I need to talk to you about something important."

Ryder gulped down the coffee and asked, "What's up?"

Scott fiddled with his cup and asked, "Have you heard of the Davis family?"

Ryder nodded. "I've heard a bit, but I'm not familiar with them. Is there a problem?"

Scott got serious. "Let me give you a quick rundown. The Davis family is led by Mark, a Houston native. He started his business in the '80s and struggled for over a decade, losing everything.

"In the '90s, Mark got into urban redevelopment in Houston, handling road construction, bridge building, and other projects, quickly making a fortune. He became the richest man in Houston and controlled a lot of the illegal market. He was the king of Houston back then!

"But fifteen years ago, Mark lost everything.

"He lost to John. In less than a year, John crushed almost all of Mark's ventures. John took over the title of the richest man in Houston and various industries.

"John wanted to keep it low-key, so all the credit went to me."

Ryder clenched his fists, feeling excited. He knew John was strong, but he didn't realize John had become the richest man in Houston with just a year. That took serious business talents and resourcefulness!

Scott continued, "I'm telling you this to let you know about John's past and to remind you that even though Mark lost back then, he's still a big deal. He runs Radiant Revive Spa and some entertainment venues, with illegal market protection.

"So, in terms of money, power, and connections, the Davis family is still one of the most powerful forces in Houston. Mark's just been laying low, so people overlook him."

"Scott, are you saying the Davis family could be our enemy?"

Scott nodded. "Exactly. Sandra visited Radiant Revive Spa yesterday to meet Mark. I don't know what they talked about, but I can guess it. Years ago, Sandra helped Mark with some things and earned his deep respect, so..."

Ryder smiled. "So she wants to use Mark against me?"

Scott said, "That's the idea, but from what I know about Mark, he won't easily agree to Sandra's request. So it's still up in the air."

Ryder nodded. "Don't worry, I know what to do."

Scott continued, "Mr. Clark, I have a flight tonight to visit Miss Ava. She'll be discharged in a couple of days, and I need to handle some procedures personally. So I'll leave Houston in your hands."

"Alright! I'm looking forward to you and Ava coming back soon!"

"Then I won't keep you any longer."

Scott stood up and left Ryder's office.

Soon, Scott took the elevator downstairs. As he walked out of the Maple Real Estate office building, he looked back at the 20th-floor executive office and murmured, "John, just as you predicted. Ryder and the Davis family are bound to clash sooner or later, but you told me not to interfere!

"I don't even know if Ryder can handle that old fox. Let's hope he gets some divine help."

Around 8 PM, outside Radiant Revive Spa, Sandra stumbled out and got into the back seat of Lawrence's car, wincing with every move.

Lawrence glanced at her in the rearview mirror. "Sandra, you don't look well. Are you okay?"

Sandra shook her head. "I'm fine. Let's go."

Lawrence nodded and started the car, heading back to the Johnson family home.

Sandra took a deep breath, reflecting on the past day and night. Kenneth was a beast in bed, but it paid off. He promised to help her deal with Ryder and had already started taking action.

Lawrence asked quietly, "Sandra, can we really rely on the Davis family?"

Sandra lit a cigarette and said confidently, "Don't underestimate them. The Davis family is the most troublesome in Houston. Trust me, Ryder and Sarah will be in ruins soon."

Lawrence nodded excitedly. "That's great! Mom's 70th birthday is in two weeks, and she's been so worried. Getting rid of Ryder and Sarah would be the perfect gift!"

Sandra exhaled a smoke ring. "Remember the housewarming party? You all embarrassed the Johnson family and my mom. For her 70th, make sure everything is perfect. We need to regain our dignity and pride, got it?"

"Got it!" Lawrence replied, but he had his own plans. With Matthew and Andy still in the police station, the responsibility would fall on him. This could be his chance to rise and eventually lead the Johnson family. The thought excited him.

Meanwhile, at the Windsor family old house, a small two-story building in the suburbs with a private courtyard, Lucas parked his Mercedes by the roadside. He got out, looked around cautiously, and, seeing no one, entered the courtyard.

The building's curtains were drawn, hiding the interior. Lucas knocked on the front door. "It's me!"

After a moment, someone opened the door. Lucas walked in, finding the living room filled with trash and cigarette butts. The TV was playing a sex movie. Lucas frowned and turned it off.

The person on the sofa complained, "If I can't have women, can't I at least watch a sex movie?"

Lucas, with a stern face, scolded, "Sam! At a time like this, you better be more careful!"
