Chapter 36 Drink More Hot Water!
At Andy's home
Matthew angrily slammed his teacup on the floor, staring wide-eyed. "What? Ryder, that useless guy, smashed your car?"
Andy nodded. "Dad, please help me! I loved this car so much. I can't stand being treated like this!"
Macy, Matthew's wife, stood up in anger. "No, I need to make a phone call to my elder brother and ask him how he disciplines his son-in-law! He smashed my son's car and even hit him!"
Matthew frowned. "Hold on, let's not make the call yet! Let's pretend we don't know anything about this."
Macy looked surprised. "Why? Our son has suffered a loss, and as a father, aren't you supposed to help him regain his dignity?"
Matthew replied, "You don't understand. Sarah has recently obtained a spot in the bidding competition. Their family is elated. Even if we try to seek justice, what can we do? Besides, my father is surely aware of this, and since he hasn't voiced his opinion, we should pretend we don't know."
Macy couldn't comprehend. "What does your father's opinion have to do with our son being beaten?"
Andy also looked puzzled.
Matthew, with a confident and strategic expression, explained, "You see, this spot in the competition was originally Andy's responsibility, but he failed. Normally, he would be punished for such a mistake, but our father forgave him because Andy is his most beloved grandson. Now that this incident has occurred, Sarah is credited for it, but our father might not be so thrilled. He can't directly scold them because he needs a reason. The more discreetly we handle this, the more it highlights Ryder and Sarah's arrogance. Our father is most worried about Ryder, fearing that he will seize power as a son-in-law. Now that he's feeling so proud, he will eventually face difficulties later. So, we don't need to take action. Dad will teach them a lesson on our behalf. It's just a matter of timing!"
Macy suddenly realized and said, "My husband, you truly plan ahead!"
Matthew nodded confidently.
Andy unwillingly said, "Dad, but I can't just swallow my pride. You don't know how arrogant Ryder is after becoming the head of security. I really want to beat him up!"
Matthew furrowed his brows. "The most important thing now is not to trouble Ryder but to quickly apologize to your sister, Abigail. Otherwise, when your uncle comes to us for trouble, I won't be able to handle it either!"
Macy also advised, "You're right, they are both obstinate. Apologize to Abigail quickly!"
"Okay, I understand!" Though reluctant, Andy could only nod his head, even though he didn't want to.
He made a phone call to Abigail as he stepped out.
He thought Abigail had blocked his number, but surprisingly, she picked up the call immediately.
"Why are you calling me, coward?" Abigail said in a calm voice.
Andy felt a bit awkward. "Abigail, I want to apologize to you. I was wrong this morning, but you know that I'm capable."
"Ryder is such an arrogant bastard!" Abigail scoffed, showing her disdain.
"Please, you have to believe me. To prove my sincerity, I'll do anything you ask!" Andy replied.
"Anything?" Abigail asked.
"Yes!" Andy confirmed.
With a teeth-gritting voice, Abigail said, "As long as you can teach Ryder and that bitch Sarah a lesson and make them suffer a huge loss of reputation, I will forgive you. How about that?"
Andy hesitated for a moment.
"Are you chickening out?"
"How could I!"
"Then show me! Otherwise, you'll forever be on my blacklist! Don't forget, if you want to be the heir of the Johnson family in the future, think about the consequences of not having my support!"
Abigail hung up the phone.
Andy spat on the ground, saying, "She's just a little bitch begging for help! She thinks she's someone important! If it weren't for Dad's command, I wouldn't even care about her!"
Although Andy said these words, he quickly made a phone call. "Hello? This is Andy! My car got vandalized, and I want to teach someone a lesson. Can you arrange something quickly?"
Six-thirty in the afternoon, Ryder stretched lazily on his office chair, ready to go home.
He had initially planned to go to the branch office to find Sarah, but he thought better of it.
Knowing her workaholic nature, she would probably be busy working on the bidding proposal, and if he went there, he would not only fail to see her but also get scolded.
As for going home? He decided against it too. His formidable mother-in-law wouldn't give him a warm welcome!
Just then, a WhatsApp message popped up.
It was from an old classmate, Lily. "I have an urgent matter, can you help?"
Ryder replied, "What's up?"
"My period came, and I'm having terrible cramps! Can you buy me a pack of sanitary pads?"
Ryder replied, "Just drink some hot water!"
"Rude!" Lily sent a rolling eyes emoji.
Then another message followed, "Forget it, I won't tease you anymore! Are you busy today? Can we go out for a meal?"
Ryder had nothing planned for the evening, so he agreed. "Send me the address, I'll come over!"
Soon, Lily sent an address.
Ryder hopped on his electric scooter and headed there.
Fifteen minutes later, Ryder stopped at an open-air coffee stall.
"I'm here!" Ryder turned his head and saw Lily waving at him from an empty table.
Parking his scooter by the roadside, Ryder sat down across from Lily.
Today, Lily was wearing a tight workout outfit, showcasing her perfect and alluring figure. There was a faint sheen of sweat on her forehead.
Seeing Ryder staring at her, Lily blushed and said, "I just finished teaching a yoga class and didn't have time to change before coming here for dinner. I hope you don't mind!"
Ryder waved it off. Such trivial matters wouldn't bother him.
They both ordered some food and chatted away.
