At this moment, even the slow-reacting Dominic and Ruth knelt down, trembling!
They were filled with regret!
After the last incident in the basement with the forced drinking, they had been so frightened they fled back to the countryside!
But just the day before yesterday, Karen had called them with promises of a lucrative opportunity, luring them back with the promise of easy money.

The lake's circumference was about 1.2 miles!
Three laps would be 3.6 miles!
If it were on land, it would be easy to do!
But running in the water, the resistance would be much greater, possibly exhausting them, not to mention the water was so cold!
Kyle was about to say something but Ryder spoke first, "If you don't want to do this, you can sink into the lake right now. The countdown starts now!"
Seeing Ryder's serious expression, Kyle and the other three realized he wasn't joking. With Ryder's personality, he would definitely do it!
Especially in this deserted place, if they were sunk into the lake and eaten by fish, no one would ever find out!
To stay alive, what else could they do?
With no other choice if they wanted to stay alive, the four of them plunged into the lake without hesitation, their legs churning through the water.

Ryder instructed Josh, "Have some of the guys keep watch on the shore. If anyone tries to sneak out, knock them back in. No need to show mercy!"
Josh nodded and did as Ryder instructed!
Kyle and the others dashed into the lake, initially making good progress for the first 650 feet. But soon, the resistance of the water and the muddy, slippery shore began to take their toll.
Kyle lost his footing and tumbled into the lake with a splash!
The icy water surged into his mouth, almost choking him!
Despite the shock and discomfort, he scrambled to his feet and forced himself to keep running, his face streaked with both lake water and tears of frustration.
If only he had known it would come to this, he thought bitterly. He would have been content staying in his shabby rental apartment, eating instant pasta. It was all Kenneth’s fault, he fumed.

Because he found Kenneth's chat logs with Olivia!
From the records, Ryder learned that Olivia was Mark's mistress, but she was secretly involved with Kenneth!
The chats were explicit and laced with derogatory comments about Mark.
Ryder couldn't help but sigh, "Rich kids sure know how to complicate things—sleeping with their dad's mistress."
Kenneth naturally knew what Ryder was talking about.
If it had been forty minutes ago, he would have cursed out loud.
But after what he had just been through, he was genuinely afraid of Ryder!
Suddenly, Ryder had a thought and manipulated the WhatsApp app for a moment. He then tossed the phone in front of Kenneth with a smirk. "Since you've had your fill of everything, I won’t keep you any longer. Get lost."
Kenneth felt like he was granted amnesty. "Really?"
Ryder nodded. "Of course, but you have to make a promise. If you ever think of or act on any plans against me again, what will happen?"
Kenneth answered without hesitation, "I'll get hit by a car and smashed into a pulp!"
