Chapter 559 Dad, what the hell?

Gregory looked at Ryder and the others with a gloating expression.

He didn't notice his father, Eli, standing beside him with a furious look on his face.

Eli raised his hand and smacked Gregory on the back of the head.

Gregory yelped, the sting sharp and unexpected. Before he could recover, a swift kick to the legs sent him sprawling face-first in front of Ryder and the crew.

"Dad, what the hell?!" Gregory groaned, clutching his head.

"You idiot, do you know who this person in front of you is?" Eli said, kicking Gregory in the back again.

Gregory's body trembled, and he looked aggrieved. "He said he's the chairman of Maple Group, but..."

His words started tripping over themselves, his confidence crumbling.

The pitiful look on his face froze as the realization hit him like a ton of bricks. He gulped, his mind racing, desperate to make sense of it all.

But before he could even get a full sentence out, Eli's foot connected with him again. "Apologize to Mr. Clark, right now! Or I swear, I'll break more than just your legs!"

He'd heard the rumors—Ryder was the young master Scott himself was loyal to!

Master and servant? Yeah, no contest there!

Scott was already way out of their league. The guy he was devoted to? Forget about it!

Gregory's personality?

Eli, as his dad, knew it inside and out. The kid was a walking disaster.

Now that Gregory had screwed up and crossed Ryder, Eli had no choice but to come down hard on him. It was the only shot at getting Ryder to let it slide and maybe, just maybe, keeping Gregory in one piece.

With this in mind, Eli dropped to his knees with a thud, pleading, "Mr. Clark, Gregory's a fool! It's on me—I failed as a father, letting him mess up and cross you. Please, spare him! I'll whip him into shape, make sure he stays in line. And I swear, I'll dedicate my life to Maple Group, to serving you, Mr. Clark!"

He started slamming his head against the floor, each thud making the floor tremble.

No wonder Eli was freaking out; he'd had a business partner worth over a hundred million.

But then his son had crossed Tyler from the infamous Young family. Next thing he knew, Tyler had beaten the guy to death, and the Youngs had swooped in and taken over the company.

The family was wiped out, and the Youngs? They walked away clean.

Stuff like that? Happened all the time around here.

That's the kind of power the elite had!

That's the kind of confidence the top families carried!

To Eli, Ryder might not have been part of the top-tier families in town, but his status? Probably even higher than those guys.

No way was Eli risking it!

Seeing Eli groveling and pleading on his knees, Gregory, kneeling right beside him, was completely floored. It was the first time he'd ever seen his dad, a guy worth over a hundred million, bow down to anyone like this.

When he glanced at Ryder again, there was nothing but terror in his eyes.

Ryder's expression was also slightly surprised.

He hadn't said anything yet, and Eli was already begging for mercy?

"Get up! Eli, come with me to the balcony," Ryder said, turning and heading that way.

Eli muttered an "Oh," scrambled to his feet, and trailed behind.

Out on the balcony, Eli was about to drop to his knees again, but Ryder stopped him. "Eli, cut it out. No need for that."

"But..."

Ryder smiled faintly. "Don't worry, your son has already paid the price for what he did! I won't trouble him anymore!"

Hearing this, Eli breathed a sigh of relief. "With your words, Mr. Clark, I am relieved!"

Ryder said, "Eli, to be honest, your son did something that made me very angry. He smashed the computer, causing the entire tech team's previous efforts to go to waste!"

"This?" Eli's previously relaxed mood instantly tensed up.

Ryder continued, "But fortunately, we had a programmer who saved some files in the cloud, so the loss isn't too great! It's just that launching the product by the end of the month will be difficult, as we have to start over."

Eli looked guilty. "That idiot! Mr. Clark, rest assured, I will educate him well when we get back!"

Ryder nodded. "He definitely needs to be taught a lesson! But right now, Eli, I might need you to handle something. If this works out, you'll stay on as a director at Maple Group and keep running Passionate Property Management Company!"

It was a gamble, but also a shot at redemption.

Eli paused, then thumped his chest. "I used to think handing over four billion to Mr. Wallace was a waste, but now I see we were dead wrong! If this pans out, Maple Group's rep in New York will skyrocket! Mr. Clark, you have my word—I'll keep this under wraps and make sure the product launches by month's end! If I fail, I'll step down from everything and walk away for good!"

"Good!" Ryder was very satisfied with Eli's attitude. "I can see that you are a sensible person, Eli! I will leave this matter entirely to you and Brent!"

Truth be told, even if Gregory hadn't stirred up this mess, Ryder had already planned to have a one-on-one with Eli.

Passionate Property Management, run by Eli, was technically its own legal entity but was really a subsidiary of Maple Group.

The reason it carried Eli's name? The guy was straight-up honest, took his work seriously, and was someone you could trust.

Scott had mentioned this to Ryder before.

Plus, the new product they were about to launch could be a game-changer for Passionate Property Management, which was currently bleeding money. It could help them pivot and open up new opportunities.

Eli knew this too.

That's why he made the call.

After that, the two chatted for a while longer.

Eli once again apologized for Gregory's behavior. "Mr. Clark, the tech team was also frightened today. How about we grab a bite somewhere and take the edge off? Also, I'm thinking we move the team to an e-sports studio right next to my villa—better vibe, fewer distractions!"

Ryder frowned. "E-sports studio?"

"Mr. Clark, don't misunderstand! The e-sports studio was originally renovated for that idiot Gregory to study in! It has complete hardware facilities! To be honest, even if the tech team works there, outsiders will just think I'm disciplining my son again!"

"Alright, let's do that!" Ryder nodded.

At night, at Breeze Club.

Several vans were parked in the open-air parking lot in front of the club.

One after another, people got out of the cars.

Most of them were bald, clearly old programmers who had been working for many years.

Leading them was Constantine!

Constantine said, "Everyone has worked hard during this period, don't be shy! Tonight, I've booked the most luxurious private room for us. Eat, drink, and have fun!"

The project had made progress and might even be launched earlier than scheduled.

It was indeed something to be happy about!

The other programmers also had smiles on their faces:

"The project's progress is all thanks to your excellent guidance, Mr. Young!"

"Thank you, Mr. Young. We won't be shy then!"

Constantine laughed heartily. "Alright, alright, let's all go in!"

Shortly after Constantine and his crew walked into the club, a few more vans pulled into the parking lot.

The doors swung open.

Out stepped Ryder, Rex, Brent, Eli, and the rest of the gang.

Eli was the first to speak to the programmers behind him. "I apologize for Gregory's mistake! Tonight, I'm treating everyone, so don't be shy!"
