Chapter 67 I Am Not Your Husband!

Polka Bar in Houston

As one of the largest bars in Houston, it was frequented by numerous men and women who spent their nights here in revelry. It gathered all sorts of people from society, each with their own temperament. However, it was rare to have any trouble at Polka Bar.

The reason was simple: the bar's owner was none other than George, the Houston Boss.

Anyone who caused trouble here would be a complete fool!

At eight o'clock in the evening, Ryder parked his bicycle outside Polka Bar.

Watching the young people coming and going at the entrance, Ryder whispered with a hint of admiration, "George is doing quite well in his business! When I have the time, I can bring Sarah here for a visit."

Thinking of Sarah, Ryder felt a headache coming on.

During the bidding meeting that morning, his proposed bet had greatly disappointed Sarah.

Although he later expressed his true feelings and even moved Sarah, it was still not enough.

After all, in Sarah's eyes, this bet was simply impossible to fulfill. She believed that nobody could stop the fate of failure three days later.

Ryder didn't explain anything about all of this on his own initiative.

After all, in the three years of their marriage, he had never been trusted. No matter what he did, he was never trusted!

That's why he dared to propose such an impossible bet this time, with the intention of making everyone believe that he couldn’t fulfill the agreement and thus underestimate his involvement in the bet.

Little did they know, all of this was a trap set by Ryder a long time ago!

"The result three days later might be more interesting than I imagined," murmured Ryder as he walked toward the bar's entrance.

Coming here so late, he wasn't here to indulge in drinking, but to talk to George about something.

Just as Ryder entered the bar, a woman came running over, hugging his arm, and said in a sweet voice, "Darling! You finally came?"

This woman was probably in her early twenties, dressed in a low-cut short skirt, with heavy makeup and an average appearance.

What made Ryder uncomfortable was that this woman had tattoos on her arms and belly button, and she held a cigarette between her index and middle fingers.

She should be one of those people who say "I smoke, drink, and have tattoos, but I'm still a good girl!”

"I don't think we know each other!" Ryder gently pushed the woman away.

The woman glanced in the direction of a certain counter in the bar and whispered, "My friends and I are playing Truth or Dare, and I lost. I have to find a guy wearing short sleeves to be my husband for the night! And you happen to be the one. So, be my husband tonight and come drink with my friends!"

"Sorry, I have other things to do and can't play this game with you. Find someone else!" Ryder tried to walk past the woman.

"Hold on!" Just as Ryder took two steps, the woman called out to him.

"What?" Ryder turned his head.

The woman took a puff of her cigarette, looked Ryder up and down, and said coldly, "You won't agree? Do you know who I am?"

Ryder shook his head.

A smug expression appeared on the woman's face. "I'm Scarlett. My uncle is the chairman of the Hall Group. Now, do you understand?"

The Hall Group?

Ryder asked back, "Do you also have a cousin named Allan?"

Scarlett's eyes lit up, and her proud expression became even stronger. "You do have some knowledge! Are you scared now? Since you already know my identity, you must agree and come to drink with us! To be honest, it's a reward for you, a poor person, to be invited as a pretend husband for one night by someone of my status. Enjoy it secretly!"

Upon hearing this, Ryder calmly responded, "I'll leave that kind of reward for someone else. I’m not interested.”

"Not interested?" Scarlett's face immediately turned ugly. She came from a wealthy family and was spoiled by her parents. Every man would fawn over her and revolve around her.

Of course, only those who knew Scarlett well knew that she despised men from ordinary and poor backgrounds the most.

In fact, Scarlett had a peculiar hobby- she enjoyed teasing poor men.

One of her favorite pastimes was the adventure of having a temporary husband for a night.

First, she would intentionally encounter a poor man. With their limited experience in love, they easily believed they were lucky and that dating a beautiful and wealthy woman would lead them to the pinnacle of life. Little did they know that she regarded them as mere objects of ridicule.

For example, she would purposely order expensive drinks and let the poor man pay in the end.

Or she would play games with others, conspiring to make the poor man lose continuously until he ended up kneeling down and imitating a barking dog, or even doing somersaults while drinking.

She could easily make a man feel embarrassed and attack his dignity. Her methods were endless.

In short, her belief was simple- she would first give hope to poor men, allow them to fantasize, and then ruthlessly tear apart and trample on those dreams.

Whenever she saw the regretful, desperate, and heartbroken expression on a poor man's face, that's when Scarlett felt the happiest.

Of course, some poor men, upon discovering the deception, wanted revenge!

But in the end, when facing Scarlett's connections and influence, they suffered even greater losses.

Unbeknownst to her, this only made Scarlett more arrogant and indulgent.

That's why Ryder's rejection was hard for her to accept!

Her temper immediately flared up, and she threatened Ryder in a deep voice, "You poor wretch! Don't think that if I speak to you kindly, you can be so arrogant! You have to be my husband tonight, or else you'll have to come in standing and leave lying down!"

Facing the threat, Ryder remained calm and said indifferently, "I understand you want to find a husband, but I'm not suitable. I recommend you to go outside the bar and look next to the trash can. There is a stray dog that is a perfect match for you!"

Pausing for a moment, Ryder added, "However you want it to 'come in' or 'leave,' it's up to you! You call the shots!"

Upon hearing these words, Scarlett's face turned red with anger.

He rejected her! He even insulted her!

She couldn't bear it any longer!

"Bastard, I'm going to rip your mouth apart today!" Scarlett lunged at Ryder, ready to bite him.

Ryder narrowed his eyes coldly and moved to the side, causing Scarlett to miss her target and crash into the glass door.

Scarlett was bounced back and landed on the ground, holding her forehead in pain, grimacing with a mix of tears. "How dare you hit me?"

Ryder innocently shrugged and said, "Don't lie with your eyes wide open. It was the glass door that knocked you down. Take it up with the door, and I wish you happiness with the stray dog outside."

Leaving this remark behind, Ryder turned around and walked away.
