Chapter 265 The Real Kidnapper

"Wake up!"
Ryder felt someone grabbing his shoulder and shaking him violently. He slowly opened his eyes!
"Where am I?" he wondered.
His vision gradually became clearer.
Ryder found himself in a small cabin. His hands were tightly bound, and his legs were also tied with ropes, making it difficult to move. Opposite him stood a young man with a flat nose, Virgil, who was staring at him with a malicious look.
Ryder frowned. "Who are you?"
Virgil lit a cigarette and sneered. "Why bother asking so many questions? I'm warning you: behave yourself, or I won't go easy on you!"
After saying that, he stood up, stretched, and muttered to himself, "The boss said that after this job, we won't have to worry for the rest of our lives. I'll go get him."
With that, Virgil left the cabin, humming a tune.
Ryder took this opportunity to glance around and found that the cabin was made of wood and was about ten square meters in size.
There was a door, a locked window, and nothing else in the room. Judging by the sunlight streaming through the window cracks, it seemed that a whole night had passed.
"It hurts! Where are we?"
Ryder heard a familiar voice behind him. Turning his head, he found that Barbara was lying behind him, also tightly bound!
Ryder replied, "Judging by the situation, we've been kidnapped!"
"Kidnapped?" Barbara was stunned for a moment, then suddenly thought of something and said, "Ryder! This has you written all over it! You hired someone to stage this to target me, right? Let me tell you, these schemes are too simple; they won't work on me!"
Ryder rolled his eyes. "You need to stop watching TV so much. I try to stay as far away from you as possible; why would I target you on purpose?"
Barbara retorted, "Stop lying! If you call yourself a man, let's have a fair duel. Using these underhanded tricks is really despicable; I've lost my respect for you!"
Ryder replied, "You need to understand two things. First, you already lost the so-called duel when you got drunk last night! Second, I don't care whether you respect me or not!"
Barbara gritted her teeth. "It's all your fault! Ever since I met you, nothing good has happened. You're a jinx!"
Ryder responded calmly, "I could say the same about you."
Barbara was about to continue arguing with Ryder when the cabin door opened.
Two people walked in. One of them was Virgil, whom they had seen earlier, and the other was an old acquaintance.
It was Sawyer.
Ryder sneered. "So it was you all along?"
Sawyer smiled mirthlessly. "You didn't expect this, did you? Do you know how long I've waited for this day? How long I've planned for this?"
As he said this, there was a hint of malice in his eyes.
Previously, Sawyer had used his handsome face to get a rich girl to keep him, sneaking into the Platan Height mansion to become one of the elite.
But because he offended Ryder, he was kicked out of the Platan Height mansion and lived a life so awful it would have been better to die.
Sawyer resented Ryder for that.
Not long ago, Sawyer even waited outside the Platan Height mansion to teach Ryder a lesson, only to be severely beaten by the security guards led by George and Dylan.
It was utterly humiliating.
Since then, Sawyer's hatred for Ryder had only grown stronger. All he could think about was revenge.
He stalked Ryder as he planned his next move. Finally, last night, Sawyer seized the opportunity, and his plan to kidnap Ryder succeeded.
Ryder said, "Just tell me what you want. There's no point in beating around the bush."
Sawyer nodded. "Good, you're being straightforward! What I want is simple: status and money! You happen to have both. Give me the Platan Height Villa No. 1 and seventy million dollars in cash. I'll let you go. That's not too much to ask, is it?"
Ryder smiled faintly. "To be honest, compared to what I have, that's not too much at all."
Before Sawyer could say anything, Barbara interrupted, "Ryder, what the hell are you thinking? There's no way you have the deed for Platan Height Villa No. 1 and seventy million dollars in cash."
Sawyer looked at Barbara, sizing her up, and frowned. "Who are you? Don't interrupt me!"
Barbara retorted, "What does it matter to you who I am? Let me go right now!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Sawyer slapped Barbara across the face.
"Bitch, what makes you think you could talk to me like that? Don't think that just because you're pretty, I won't hit you! Damn it, the thing I hate most in my life is self-righteous, stupid women like you!" Sawyer glared, looking furious.
Barbara's cheek swelled up from the slap, leaving her stunned. This was the second time since returning to the country that a man had slapped her.
"Real men don't hit women! You're not a gentleman at all!"
Another slap landed on Barbara's face.
Sawyer cursed. "Fuck! I'm here to kidnap you for money, not to take you out to dinner! And don't talk to me about men and women. Men are people too. You just need a good beating!"
Tears fell from Barbara's eyes. She didn't dare say another word.
Virgil, who was behind Sawyer, spoke up, "Sawyer, I found a platinum card in her pocket. You know more about these things than I do; take a look at it."
He handed a platinum card to Sawyer, who took it and examined it closely, staring at the words on it. Suddenly, his eyes lit up. "Fuck! I once saw a rich woman use this kind of card. You need at least 1.5 million dollars in your account to have one! Damn, I didn't expect this bitch to be so loaded!"
Sawyer squatted down, grabbed Barbara's chin, and asked with a wicked smile, "I'll ask you again, who are you?"
Having just been slapped twice, Barbara didn't dare to be as defiant as before and answered softly, "I'm Sandra's daughter!"
Sawyer didn't know who that was, so he turned to Virgil and asked, "Have you heard of Sandra?"
Virgil shook his head.
Sawyer then barked at Barbara, "Be more specific!"
Barbara nervously swallowed and said, "I'm from the Johnson family in Houston. My mom and I have been living abroad and just returned a few days ago. It's no wonder you haven't heard of my mom's name!"
"The Johnson family! That's the one that deals with building materials, right?" Sawyer said. He suddenly thought of something. "Ryder, you married into the Johnson family. Your wife Sarah and this bitch should be sisters. Last night, instead of staying home with your wife, you went out drinking with this bitch and even went swimming together. I didn't realize you two were so shameless!"
Ryder and Barbara were speechless.
