Chapter 445 The Shameless Demands of the Johnson Family
Sandra was about to lose it with Barbara's attitude and yelled, "Barbara, did you hear me? I said kneel down and apologize to Tyler! Right now!"
Barbara stood her ground. "No way! If you’ve got the guts, go ahead and kill me!"
Sandra raised her hand to slap her again, but then Tyler groaned in pain.
"It hurts so much!"
Everyone's eyes turned to Tyler.
With Andy's help, Tyler slowly got up, but his legs were shaking, and every move was agony.
But that wasn’t even the worst part.
The real issue was that Tyler had just taken a blue pill, and it was kicking in hard.
If he didn’t, you know, take care of business, the pain would just get worse.
It was a nasty cycle.
Sandra saw Tyler’s awkward situation and quickly turned to Barbara, saying, "I'll give you a chance to make things right. Sleep with Tyler, or else..."
Before she could finish, Barbara cut her off, "When did you lose your motherly instincts?"
Sandra froze, not getting what Barbara meant.
Barbara didn’t hesitate, "All I am to you is a money-making machine. You're not fit to be a mom or even a decent person!"
Her words dripped with sarcasm.
Sandra’s face twisted in anger.
Being disrespected like this in front of everyone was too much.
Before she could snap back, Barbara suddenly turned, grabbed a razor blade from a drawer, and held it to her neck.
"If you push me any further, I’ll die right here in front of you!" Barbara threatened coldly.
Everyone was freaked out.
They looked at each other, clueless about what to do.
If Barbara really went through with it, it would be a huge mess.
Sandra frowned and scolded, "Barbara, don’t go too far! Put the blade down; this isn’t funny!"
"I’m not joking! If you don’t believe me, try me!"
Barbara pressed the blade a bit harder.
The sharp edge made a shallow cut on her neck, and blood started to trickle down.
Barbara’s fingers were stained red with blood.
But her expression stayed cold, making it clear that if anyone tried anything, she’d go all the way.
Seeing this, Heather couldn’t stay calm.
She didn’t want anything bad to happen to Barbara.
On one hand, Barbara was engaged, and if she died, the engagement would be off, and the Johnson family plans would be ruined.
On the other hand, her seventieth birthday party was coming up, and she didn’t want it turning into a funeral.
So Heather cleared her throat.
She stepped forward to mediate, "Sandra, don’t push Barbara! She just got back and isn’t used to our ways. Give her some time to adjust, and she’ll come around."
"But her attitude is too much right now." Sandra glanced at Tyler, hinting that he still needed help, like, immediately.
Heather frowned and looked around.
Among the women there, besides Barbara, it was just Sandra, Abigail, and the housekeeper. None of them were exactly the right fit to help Tyler out with his, uh, problem.
Then Heather had an idea.
She turned to Abigail, who was messing around on her phone by the door, and ordered, "You, take Mr. Young to your room and make sure he’s taken care of. Don’t let anything go wrong!"
Heather didn’t spell it out, but everyone got the message.
Abigail’s cheeks turned bright red.
Sure, she was into Tyler, but she wanted it to be on her own terms. Now, it felt like she was just a stand-in for Barbara.
Still, she had to follow Heather’s orders, so she reluctantly went to help Tyler out.
As for Tyler, he was already under the blue pill’s spell. He couldn’t say no, whether it was Abigail or anyone else.
So he left with Abigail to, well, take care of things elsewhere.
Back in the room, Sandra glared at Barbara. "I’ll let it slide today, but if you step out of line after you marry Tyler, I’ll break your legs. And I won’t spare Ryder and Sarah either!"
With that, Sandra left with the others, leaving Barbara standing there alone.
For a long time, Barbara slowly lowered her hand.
Her hand was half-covered in blood.
The cut on her neck was starting to stop bleeding, but the pain in her heart was way worse.
With a blank look in her eyes, tears finally started to fall.
The next day, there was just one day left until Heather’s seventieth birthday party.
Sarah hadn’t slept for two nights and looked more worn out than ever.
Since yesterday, she’d been using all her connections to contact lawyers, but nothing was working.
Now, SR Group was caught in a media storm, forcing it to shut down.
And Barbara had suddenly left yesterday, leaving a letter saying she’d gone home to agree to the marriage, asking them to spare Ryder.
So much was weighing on Sarah, it felt like she could hardly breathe.
She’d never experienced anything like this in over twenty years.
It was just too much.
And still, no word from Ryder, no sign of hope.
Then her phone rang.
The caller ID said "Grandma," which surprised her.
Sarah hesitated for a few seconds before answering.
Heather’s voice came through. "Sarah, how have you been lately?"
The unexpected concern made Sarah pause, unsure of Heather’s true intentions.
Heather continued, "Don’t overthink it. I’m calling to inform you of something. When you left the Johnson family, you took a portion of the family assets and eventually founded SR Group. No matter what, it still belongs to the Johnson family, so you need to transfer all the shares of SR Group to us within 24 hours! Consider it a gift for my seventieth birthday. What do you think?"
Hearing this, Sarah frowned. "Grandma, SR Group was clearly an asset Ryder helped consolidate with his money. It doesn’t belong to the Johnson family!"
Heather sneered. "Fine! If you don’t agree, I’ll have Andy prosecute Ryder for those ten crimes, and we’ll see him in court in three days. I’ll make sure he spends the rest of his life in prison!"
