Chapter 616 Let's Bankrupt the Young Family!
Anthony didn't argue with Abigail and Andy. Instead, he just nodded and said, "Yeah, Sarah, you gotta get it. You're not Sandra, so it's not your place to meddle in Barbara's stuff!"
Sarah finally got the picture. The Johnson family had called this meeting, and it was Anthony who had looped her and Ryder in. So, she didn't bother arguing anymore. It was pointless anyway.
The video call ended, and Sarah slammed her phone down in frustration. She plopped down on the sofa by the window, fuming.
Ryder noticed and sat next to her. Sarah shot him a dirty look and scooted away.
"Why didn't you say anything just now? Were you mute? Did I really mess up? Why does everyone think I did?" she snapped.
"You didn't do anything wrong. It's the Young family that's messed up," Ryder said.
Sarah huffed, "Then why didn't you say that earlier? What's the point of telling me now?"
"Do you think explaining it to the Johnson family would have made a difference?" Ryder asked.
Sarah frowned. "No."
"Exactly."
"But you should've had my back!" Sarah pouted.
Ryder sighed, "Alright, alright, my bad this time! I'll do better next time!"
Sarah turned to look out the window. "Hypocrite."
They sat in silence for a bit. Then Ryder broke it, "Let's ruin the wedding and bankrupt the Young family."
"What?" Sarah was taken aback.
Ryder explained, "I've got a ton of dirt on the Young family. If we expose it at the right time, they're done for."
"Really? But Ryder, this isn't some business war novel by Damon. Are you sure it'll work?" Sarah asked, still skeptical.
Ryder nodded confidently. Sarah thought it over and nodded too.
"But if we do this, Abigail's marriage to the Weaver family will be wrecked too," she pointed out.
Ryder shrugged. "It's fine. Abigail's already married to Oliver. We can make it up to her later."
"Alright! I'm in. If we pull this off, everyone wins. If not, I'll tough it out with you," Sarah said, determined.
"Sarah, how about moving to the master bedroom with me tonight?" Ryder asked, seizing the moment.
Sarah's ears turned red. "I haven't even dealt with you about your first love! If it weren't for Barbara's urgent matter..."
She got up and walked away. Ryder watched her go, lost in thought.
The whole thing about the Weaver and Young families marrying two Johnson daughters at the same time was all over Aurora City, thanks to the media. Even the top-tier Moore family got an invite.
Kyle, the Moore family's son-in-law, felt pretty uneasy about it. He always thought he was the most successful of the Johnson family's younger generation. After all, he married into the elite Moore family in Aurora City. That made him a big deal, right?
But now, even Abigail was marrying Oliver from the Weaver family. And Barbara was set to marry Tyler, the Young family's only son. What was going on?
By then, they'd all be part of top-tier families. What else could he brag about? Nothing!
"Kyle, what are you standing around for? Go pick out some valuable gifts for the wedding," Gabriel said.
"Huh? Okay! I'll go after work!" Kyle replied, taking the bank card Gabriel handed him.
"Don't wait until after work. Go now and choose carefully!" Gabriel insisted.
"Oh, and Kyle, these Abigail and Barbara who are getting married, they're your blood-related sisters, right?" Gabriel asked.
Kyle nodded. "Yes."
"Good! Kyle, you need to keep a good relationship with them. This is a great opportunity for us!" Gabriel said.
"Yes, I understand! I'll go pick out the gifts now," Kyle replied.
Leaving Gabriel's office, Kyle went back to his workstation to pack up his things. He could hear his colleagues' snide remarks:
"Did you see that? Someone just came out of Chairman Moore's office."
"He's just a poor son-in-law of the Moore family."
"Is he packing up to go home and serve his wife? Being a son-in-law is really different, huh!"
Kyle was glad the Moore family let him work at their company, even if it was just as a regular employee in the crowded marketing department.
Ever since his colleagues found out he was a son-in-law of the Moore family, they looked at him with disdain. But Kyle endured it all because Gabriel had told him that if he secured the cooperation with Maple Group to develop the Rigal Sports Complex, he could become the general manager of the marketing department. He couldn't wait to show up these workers then!
Thinking of this, Kyle packed up his things and went to the underground garage. He sat in the Porsche he had taken from Ryder's house and quickly called Sarah.
As expected, Sarah didn't want Barbara to marry someone like Tyler. Moreover, Barbara had lost her memory! It was unbelievable!
"Kyle, if possible, please go to the Young family and see Barbara. Give her some things to look at first! Let her make a basic judgment! Ryder and I are considered dangerous by the Young family and can't get close to Barbara," Sarah said.
"What things should I give her?" Kyle asked.
"I'll send them to you on WhatsApp later," Sarah replied.
"Okay!" Kyle agreed without hesitation. "Sarah, can you put in a good word with Ryder about the Moore family and Maple Group's joint development of the Rigal Sports Complex? I promise I'll make sure Barbara sees the things you give me!"
"Okay! I'll talk to him," Sarah said.
"You're the best, Sarah! Alright, send me those things quickly! I'll go to the Young family to find Barbara now!" Kyle said.
"Okay," Sarah agreed readily because Ryder had mentioned to her before that the Moore family company was the best choice for the Rigal Sports Complex project. But this project wasn't urgent and could be taken slowly.
The things Sarah sent to Kyle were mainly a series of short videos she got from Ryder and Damon.
Although Ryder had said that causing a scene at the wedding would ruin the Young family's reputation, if the Young family had a strong countermeasure, the one who would suffer the most would be Ryder. She didn't want to see Ryder get hurt.
If they could use this "indirect tactic" to let Barbara see the true colors of the Young family, and if Barbara called off the wedding herself, everything would be much easier.
