Chapter 658 Saskia Still Loves You Like Before

"Saskia?"

Ryder frowned slightly.

Zane noticed his confusion and sighed. "You know, Saskia's had it rough these past three years. She's just a woman, yet she's had to bear so much pain alone."

"What exactly do you know?" Ryder asked, surprised.

Zane waved his hand dismissively. "Not much, really. But honestly, Ryder, you're something else. Saskia was the prettiest girl in our class, and she pursued you like crazy!"

"Even after three years, her feelings for you haven't changed. She still dreams of making it big someday and getting back together with you. It's strange—she's willing to sacrifice both body and soul for this goal."

Ryder was surprised that Zane knew all this. In his memory, Zane and Saskia barely spoke during their four years of college—you could count their interactions on your fingers.

"Wondering how I know all this?" Zane asked suddenly.

"Why?" Ryder responded.

Zane sighed heavily. "I actually witnessed what Alfonso did to Saskia. Afterward, he asked me to take her home. But Saskia threatened me, saying if I told you about it, she'd jump from the top of the school building. I was scared, so I started distancing myself from you."

Could that be true? Ryder was skeptical.

What Zane didn't mention was that he wasn't threatened by Saskia—rather, he had threatened her, saying he'd tell Ryder everything unless she complied. Afraid of Ryder finding out, Saskia spent three consecutive nights with Zane at a hotel outside campus.

Nor did Zane mention how the once-innocent Saskia completely changed afterward, using her beauty and body to navigate between powerful men. She had even helped him secure his deputy manager position at Passionate Property Management Company. After that, they'd gone their separate ways.

Now that Passionate Property Management had become Passion Logistics Management Company, directly under Maple Group, Zane's status had naturally risen.

They hadn't been in contact until recently, when Saskia suddenly reached out, saying Constantine probably had only a few years left and she needed a younger man. She'd asked Zane to contact Alfonso, who had shown interest in her.

That led to the class reunion. Then, unexpectedly, Alfonso died under mysterious circumstances.

Thinking about this, Zane shook his head. "Now that Alfonso's dead, Saskia's adrift again. Who knows when she'll catch a break."

"She chose this path herself," Ryder replied.

Clearly, from Zane's words, he didn't know the truth about Saskia's deliberate murder of Alfonso.

Hearing Ryder's response, Zane slammed the table. "That's where you're wrong! Men can be far more heartless than women! Shortly after the reunion, Saskia called me from her hospital bed specifically to ask me to look out for you! To give you opportunities for advancement!"

"Really? Well, I should thank her then," Ryder said, feeling touched by Saskia's actions but not approving of them.

"Come on, Ryder, a verbal thank-you isn't enough! How can you be so dense? Here's a gorgeous woman who doesn't care that you're poor. Saskia loves you so much—shouldn't you show some appreciation?"

Ryder sighed. "Appreciation? I'm married now. Besides, whether she likes me or not is her business—what's it got to do with me? Let's drop it and finish our meal."

"Fine, fine, I'll stop. But I have to say, I admire your playboy nature!"

The two men finished their meal with light conversation. Afterward, Ryder said goodbye to Zane.

Once Ryder was out of sight, Zane pulled out his phone and made a call.

A young woman's voice answered. "How did it go?"

"Don't worry, I handled it. I told Ryder all about your hardships these past three years."

"How did he react?"

"Can't really say he had much of a reaction. He didn't seem interested in discussing you. Honestly, Saskia, why are you so fixated on Ryder? I think he might be an even more shameless playboy than I am!"

Saskia laughed coldly. "Don't compare yourself to him. You're not worthy."

"You—!" Zane swallowed his anger. "You've got dirt on me, so I won't argue. But remember our deal, Saskia. Once I help get Ryder's wife into Oliver's bed, you destroy that video of us."

The video contained a bedroom conversation between him and Saskia. If it ever got out, he'd immediately lose his deputy manager position at Passion Logistics.

Saskia was like a venomous snake—best kept at a distance.

"Don't worry. Do your job well, and I'll meet your terms. Goodbye." She hung up.

Back in her hospital bed, Saskia slipped the phone under her pillow and closed her eyes. In the darkness, her mind filled with images of Ryder.

---

After dinner with Zane, it was already late. Concerned about worrying his family, Ryder decided to take a taxi home.

While waiting at the curb under dim streetlights, he spotted a scantily dressed woman staggering along, clearly drunk. Behind her, two sleazy-looking men followed, their intentions obvious.

Soon, the men blocked the drunk woman's path.

"You're so wasted already—come on, hang with us for a while. We'll show you a good time!"

"Look how pretty she is—better than those Instagram models! And what a figure! Must be at least a double-D!"

One of them reached out to touch her. The woman stumbled, tripping on the uneven pavement and falling sideways onto the ground.

Fortunately, this kept the men from succeeding.

"Well, look at that—so cooperative, already lying down!"

"But maybe the street isn't the best place. Come on, let me help you up. We'll find somewhere more private!"

The drunk woman seemed to still have some awareness. As the man crouched down, she suddenly scrambled to her feet and jumped away, once again escaping the clutches of evil.

A game of cat and mouse unfolded right before Ryder's eyes.
