Chapter 35 A Woman's Face
The Johnson family's ancestral home.
Grandpa Johnson angrily slammed the table, shaking from anger. "A disgrace to the family! What a disgrace! Abigail, this foolish woman, has tarnished the reputation of the Johnson family! Bring her here immediately, so she can face our family's punishment!"
Being of old age, Grandpa Johnson never played with Tiktok.
But just moments ago, a younger family member showed him the Tiktok video posted by Abigail. Mind you, Grandpa Johnson had conservative and traditional views.
How could he tolerate such a video? Furthermore, someone had exposed Abigail as being from Houston and a member of the Johnson family.
Now, it had caused a huge commotion in Houston!
The Johnson family's reputation was completely ruined! They nearly drove Grandpa Johnson to his death with anger!
...
An hour later, Abigail was brought back by someone.
Without giving Grandpa Johnson a chance to question her, Abigail immediately knelt down and said, "Grandpa, please help me!"
Grandpa Johnson's face turned grim. "You have already disgraced the Johnson family. What help do you expect from me? Wait for our family's discipline!"
Anxious, Abigail explained, "It's not my fault at all. It was all caused by that useless Ryder and that wicked woman Sarah!"
"What do you mean?"
Abigail tearfully recounted the whole incident to Grandpa Johnson.
However, her description was quite different from what she presented: After Sarah learned that the Johnson family intended to compete for the qualification spot, she took the initiative.
Using Ryder's new position as the head of security at Maple Real Estate, she had him introduce her to the newly arrived Mr. Clark.
Then Sarah seduced Mr. Clark using her looks, securing a partnership ahead of time. It was because of this that she and Andy were thrown out of Maple Real Estate!
But that's not all. Ryder and Sarah played a trick on Abigail, intentionally luring her into a bet. Today, Sarah and Ryder cunningly set them up.
Abigail didn't want to bet, but Ryder and Sarah forced her into it. In the end, she lost the bet, and Ryder even smashed her car in a threat!
He shamelessly said that if Abigail didn't fulfill the bet, he would let Grandpa Johnson do it for his granddaughter!
She argued as best she could but ended up being slapped by Sarah! In the end, with no other choice, she was forced to record a video...
After listening to Abigail's account, Grandpa Johnson's face turned pale with anger. "That bastard Ryder! He's so audacious! No wonder he dared to argue with me at the meeting yesterday. He became the head of security at Maple Real Estate, is nothing more than a dog!"
Abigail, still kneeling on the ground, felt triumphant inside.
She understood that if she told the whole truth, Grandpa Johnson would never believe her. It was this half-truth, half-lie embellishment that seemed most convincing!
Furthermore, even Abigail herself suspected that Sarah was able to secure the bidding qualification because of Ryder's involvement!
Grandpa Johnson was a bit puzzled. "You're saying Sarah is involved with Maple Real Estate...The newcomer, Mr. Clark, had physical dealings. Do you have any evidence?"
Abigail nodded repeatedly and made up a story, "Yes, we do! Yesterday after the monthly meeting, my best friend saw Sarah entering a hotel with a young man. Unfortunately, she didn't have time to take photos!"
"How strange! Ryder, that useless person, actually played matchmaker for his own wife and the company's CEO. Isn't he basically putting a dunce hat on himself?"
Abigail sneered, "Not surprising! Ryder is that kind of useless person, ambitious! Betraying his wife for his own future, what's the big deal? Besides, Sarah isn't a good person either. These years, she has been feeling oppressed and treated unfairly in the family, so she must have harbored resentment towards us. Now that she has the opportunity to go after a wealthy man, she won't miss it. Otherwise, why would she seek revenge on me? Grandpa, you have keen insight and must be on my side! This is not just for me, but for our entire Johnson family!"
Grandpa Johnson nodded, a cold gleam in his cloudy eyes, "These two troublemakers from the Johnson family have tarnished our family's reputation! They are unforgivable!"
Abigail hastily added fuel to the fire, "Exactly, exactly! Grandma, you should immediately kick them out of the Johnson family!"
Grandpa Johnson sneered, "I know what to do! You go back and rest. Stay indoors these few days, so as not to embarrass the Johnson family any further!"
"Alright!" Abigail left reluctantly.
Not long after she left, Sarah called Grandpa Johnson. Grandpa Johnson narrowed his eyes and answered the phone.
On the other end of the phone, Sarah's excited voice came through, "Grandpa, I have good news to tell you! I successfully obtained a qualification for bidding at Maple Real Estate! I will participate in the bidding in two days!"
Grandpa Johnson coldly chuckled, "You finally have some capabilities. Just as soon as you accomplish one thing, you can't wait to show it off! Are you trying to prove that you're strong enough to kick me off the stage?"
"Grandma! That's not true!" Sarah explained.
"Whether it's true or not, you know it in your heart! Let me tell you, young lady I may not be dead yet, and the Johnson family is far from allowing you to tarnish our reputation. You and Ryder, that ungrateful person, can do whatever you want!" After finishing his words, he hung up the phone coldly.
On the other end of the phone, Sarah looked aggrieved, "What does Grandpa mean?"
Ryder shrugged dismissively, "Don't think too much. Abigail must have stirred up trouble!"
"I knew she holds grudges!" Sarah muttered, discontented.
Suddenly, the brakes were slammed. She barked at Ryder, "Get out of the car!"
Ryder was bewildered, "Why do you want me to get out of the car?"
Sarah, annoyed, said, "Sit for a while, don't take advantage and act smart! I have to go back to the branch office later to write a bidding proposal. The Maple Real Estate bidding is in two days, and I must ensure success!"
"Alright," Ryder reluctantly agreed and got out of the car.
Women's moods change so quickly.
Sarah quickly reminded him, "Don't forget, go home and apologize to Mom. She's still angry about what happened when you washed her feet last night."
"I know," Ryder casually replied.
Finally, Sarah felt relieved and left...
Ryder checked the time. It was almost noon. He decided to find a place to eat something before returning to the company.
After all, he had recently become the president of the company, and he couldn't slack off.
After lunch, Ryder flagged down a car on the roadside and headed back to the company.
Just as he returned to his office, Sophia knocked on the door and came in.
Today, she was dressed in a white professional outfit. The top was a bit tight, highlighting her perfect figure and adding to her mature aura.
"Mr. Clark, as you requested, the bidding event will take place in two days in Houston. The Hong family, the Smith family, as well as the recently qualified Johnson family will participate. Do you have any other instructions?"
"For now, nothing else. I'll inform you if there's any news." Ryder paused and smiled. "By the way, you did a good job today, without alerting her."
Sophia respectfully nodded. "Thank you for your praise, Mr. Clark. I must say, the Johnson family is fortunate to have such a talented and beautiful lady. I'm not just flattering; it's a fact!"
Upon hearing this, Ryder glanced at the bustling traffic outside, squinted, and murmured, "Unfortunately, some people don't want to see her, they even wish for her to fall into eternal darkness. But the more they do, the more I want her to shine brightly!"
