Chapter 133 The Amazing Uncle!
Lily rummaged through boxes and pulled out the largest set of pajamas. She threw them at Ryder, who was soaked, and said, "Take off your wet clothes, take a hot bath in the bedroom, and change into these clean pajamas. Don't catch a cold!"
"Okay!" Ryder replied listlessly, taking the pajamas and heading to the bathroom.
He took off the wet clothes that were sticking to his body and turned on the shower.
Hot water poured down, warming his chilly body.
He happened to meet Lily on the street because she had been late in handling some documents for the pet shop today.
She asked Ryder why he ended up in this state.
Knowing Lily was perceptive, Ryder couldn't lie to her.
He briefly described what had happened, leaving out key information about his true identity.
When she learned about Ryder's situation, she became extremely angry.
So, she forcibly brought him back home!
As for Ryder, he had nowhere else to go, so he went along!
"Sigh! I wonder how Sarah is at home now!"
Ryder murmured with a sour feeling in his heart.
Was their marriage, maintained for almost three years, about to come to an end?
Soon, he finished in the shower.
Ryder changed into the pajamas Lily had given him.
This set of pajamas had a slightly androgynous style, but wearing them didn't feel strange.
Just a bit small in size!
He opened the bathroom door and saw that Lily already had two cooked bowls of spaghetti on the dining table.
Lily smiled and said, "There's nothing else to eat in the fridge, so I made this simple dish. It's not much, hope you don't mind!"
"Just whatever is fine!" Ryder sat across from Lily and started eating the spaghetti.
Surprisingly, it tasted great!
Seeing Ryder wolfing it down, Lily felt a sense of satisfaction and asked with her chin resting on her hand, "What do you think of the photos I sent you at noon?"
"Huh?" Ryder was momentarily stunned.
Lily pretended to be angry and said, "You looked at them and still pretend not to know. That's really impolite!"
Only then did Ryder remember that when he was chatting with Lily at noon, she sent him some intimate selfies to tease him, and he almost got caught by Casey.
Helplessly, Ryder replied, "Don't send me those kinds of photos anymore. It's not good if others find out!"
Lily shrugged and said, "What's the big deal? If you don't talk about it, no one will know! Hmph! Don't tell me you're not satisfied with those photos of mine. I'll take some more provocative ones for you in a few days. I guarantee they will keep you awake at night!"
"Cough, cough!"
Ryder was caught off guard by this statement, causing him to cough uncontrollably. He hastily waved his hand and said, "Stop! Stop! Please spare me. I'm worried that if we continue like this, the internet regulatory department will catch us for engaging in illegal transactions!"
Lily scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Engaging in illegal transactions? How shameless."
Although she said that, her foot under the table was trembling. It seemed like she was quite pleased!
Seeing that Ryder's mood improved slightly, Lily tentatively asked, "Are you really considering a divorce?"
"Whether to divorce or not is not up to me. The marriage law does not stipulate that if one party doesn't agree to a divorce, it cannot be done!" Ryder sighed.
Lily expressed her dissatisfaction and sneered, "Your wife and her family are truly a bunch of oddballs! A weak and feeble father-in-law, a sarcastic and mean-spirited mother-in-law, a useless younger brother-in-law, and your indecisive wife. If you ask me, getting a divorce would be an easy decision. After all, it shouldn't be difficult for someone as good as you to find someone better."
Ryder looked deep in thought and said meaningfully, "Finding someone better may not be difficult, but what's difficult is finding someone who suits me the most. And Sarah, from the moment I laid eyes on her, I felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity that no one else can replace!"
Upon hearing this, Lily pouted, slightly displeased. In fact, she wanted to ask Ryder if he felt the same sense of familiarity when he first saw her.
Just then, there was a loud knocking on the door!
"Who is it?" Lily complained in a low voice, "It's so late, and they're knocking so hard!"
Ryder's heart trembled slightly. He wondered if it could be Sarah who had come to his doorstep! Although the possibility was remote, if she were to catch him at Lily's house, it would be difficult to explain!
But outside the door, a man's voice rang out, "It's me! Open the door quickly!"
Lily's expression suddenly changed. Her face turned dark as she yelled, "I won't open the door! Go as far away as you can!"
Then, a middle-aged woman's voice came from outside the door, "What kind of way is that to talk to us? Let us in quickly. It's too cold standing outside!"
"I hope you freeze to death! I'm telling you to leave now, or I'll call the police!" Lily shouted angrily.
The two people outside the door continued knocking, especially the man who was loudly shouting.
Ryder rarely saw Lily express such emotions, so he asked, "Who are the people outside the door?"
"They..." Lily's expression became gloomy, and she sighed, "They are my uncle and aunt!"
"Why..." Ryder couldn't finish his sentence before Lily interrupted him, saying, "They don't deserve to be called my uncle and aunt. They're just scum in this society!"
Hearing Lily's words, Ryder knew that there must be another hidden story behind all this. So, he quieted down and listened to her continue to tell him the story.
Lily's grandfather had two sons, her father and her uncle Marcus!
Her father had an honest and humble personality, while Marcus was lazy and irresponsible.
Lazy and slippery.
Grandpa favored Marcus, saving everything good for him.
Not only that, but Lily's father, who worked long distances in freight transportation, had to subsidize Marcus with the hard-earned money he made.
Even the money to marry a wife and buy a house for Marcus was given by her father.
Despite all the sacrifices, he didn't get anything good in return from Marcus's family. They thought it was only natural for him to pay for them!
During Lily's high school years, Grandpa passed away.
Her father paid for the entire medical treatment, including the subsequent funeral expenses.
But she didn't receive a single penny of Grandpa's inheritance, which was devoured by Marcus's family!
Because of this, her father and mother had countless arguments and eventually divorced!
The house was left to her mother.
Lily moved with her father to another city!
But honest people don't get rewarded.
The year Lily graduated from college, her father died in a car accident!
From her father's death to the burial, Marcus and his family didn't bother to show up or even make a phone call!
Later on, Lily returned to Houston with the insurance money and lived with her mother.
But not long after, Marcus and his family started coming over frequently, every few days.
It's not because they wanted to visit their niece and sister-in-law!
Instead, they demanded the insurance money left by Lily's father and wanted to take away the house they owned.
