Chapter 477 Adam!
Ryder's words cut like a knife.
He contradicted Theodore, then let Rex beat Jacob, and even mocked Theodore in the end, truly bold and impressive!
No one in Houston had ever dared to treat Theodore like this, and his eyes were now filled with anger.
He squinted and, almost through gritted teeth, said to Ryder, "You've got some nerve! I'm dying to know, where do you get the guts to pull this off? If you're just trying to impress your girlfriend, the cost might not be worth the show!"
Ryder just lifted his eyelids and calmly replied, "I'm not showing off, just doing what needs to be done."
"Doing what needs to be done?" Theodore sneered, then raised his right hand and ordered his men, "Cut out his tongue. I'll see how he argues with me then!"
Theodore's guys started moving in, ready to touch Ryder, when suddenly, the door swung open!
A bunch of bar staff rushed in!
Leading them was a tall, skinny guy with big eyes, dressed in a black uniform.
He walked in, respectfully smiled at Theodore, and said, "Theodore, hold up a second!"
Theodore looked him up and down with disdain and asked, "Who the hell are you?"
The guy introduced himself, "I'm Adam, the duty manager of this bar."
Theodore scoffed, "So, just a manager? Are you instructing me what should I do?"
"That's not what I mean," Adam said, shaking his head with a smile. "I just wanted to say it's rare for everyone to come to our bar. I hope the guests can get along. If things get loud, it'll be bad for business. If our boss finds out, he won't be happy."
Theodore squinted his eyes and said in a deep voice, "So, you're trying to use your boss to stop me? Yeah, I know your boss is Josh, a big shot in Houston. But I heard he had a car accident and is still in the hospital. Do you think dropping his name will scare me?"
Adam frowned slightly.
This bar was Josh's investment in Jakarda City a few years back, and thanks to him, no one dared to cause trouble here.
Normally, Theodore would back off because of Josh.
But with Josh laid up in the hospital, a lot of big shots in Jakarda City saw this as their chance to take over the bar, Theodore included!
So, when Theodore showed up with his crew today, Adam knew something was about to go down.
When he heard the commotion from the private room, he brought the staff in.
He knew he had to stop things from getting out of hand.
Theodore continued, "You better shut up! I'm in a really bad mood today! I need to throw a few punches to feel better! Don't worry, I'll try not to kill anyone!"
Hearing Theodore's sneer, Adam frowned, wondering who had the guts to tick off Theodore like this.
He turned his head and looked around.
When he saw Ryder and Lily, he was stunned!
He blinked a few times, not believing his eyes. "Ryder, Lily? Is it really you two?"
Ryder smiled and greeted him, "Adam, long time no see!"
Adam's face lit up with excitement, and he quickly walked over to Ryder, giving him a hearty pat on the shoulder. "It's really you! When did you get to Jakarda City? You should've called me; I would've taken you out for a meal!"
Ryder noticed Adam's slightly reddened eyes, a sign of his excitement. This stirred some emotions within Ryder too.
Among his high school classmates, Adam had the closest relationship with him, apart from Lily.
No matter what trouble Ryder got into at school, Adam was always there for him.
Seeing Adam's attitude now, Ryder knew Adam hadn't changed.
He was still the same loyal friend.
Lily was also surprised. "Adam, you work here? I never knew!"
Adam replied somewhat sheepishly, "I just never mentioned it."
Their exchange of pleasantries was quite warm, but to the others present, it appeared somewhat inappropriate—especially to Theodore.
Theodore clenched his fist tightly and thought, 'Can't you see I'm pissed and about to teach someone a lesson? And you guys are just chatting away? Are you treating me like I'm invisible?'
This made him even angrier.
He slammed the armrest of the sofa.
The sound grabbed everyone's attention.
They could feel the anger radiating from Theodore.
He spoke in a deep voice, "Are you all looking down on me?"
Seeing this, Adam's face changed slightly, and he turned to Theodore with a smile. "Theodore, you misunderstand. We don't mean that!"
Theodore sneered, "I don't care what you mean. Step aside. I want to cut out his tongue!"
Adam quickly said, "Theodore, please don't be impulsive. He's my high school classmate. I think there must be some misunderstanding between you. Could you let it go for my sake? If you agree, tonight's expenses at the bar will be on the house!"
"For your sake?" Theodore muttered, then squinted his eyes slightly and said to Adam with a mocking expression, "Since you put it that way, why not? Here's the deal! There are two bottles of liquor here! I want you to drink them all within three minutes. If you can do it, I'll let him go! How about it?"
He pointed to two 17-ounce bottles of liquor on the table.
Everyone's faces changed slightly.
Drinking two bottles in three minutes?
A total of 34 ounces of liquor!
That was definitely impossible; drinking it all would likely lead to alcohol poisoning and a trip to the hospital!
How was that possible for Adam to accept such a foolish deal?
And just for a so-called high school classmate!
But Adam took a deep breath and said firmly, "Alright! Go ahead! I hope you keep your word!"
He stepped forward to open the liquor.
"Wait!" Ryder's voice suddenly rang out, stopping Adam.
