Chapter 319 Trap?
George's story caught Ryder's attention. "You did underground boxing? Seriously?"
George grinned. "Yep, seven years ago. I was just starting out in Houston when a big shot noticed me. We fought a lot, and I kept losing. That guy was Tony!"
Tony?
Ryder remembered. Tony was a big deal in Houston. When Sam kidnapped Sarah at the KTV, Joseph brought Tony to help during the rescue. But that night, Tony, desperate, crashed his car into Joseph, causing an accident. Now, Tony's in prison, and his reign ended.
George took over Tony's territory, leading to his current power.
George continued, "Back then, things were rough. I had about a dozen guys, most injured, while Tony had over a hundred men and controlled more places. We were doomed if we dragged it out. So, I challenged Tony to an underground boxing match. The deal was if I won, he'd give me a bar and leave my people alone for a year. If I lost, I'd disband my crew and jump into the river.
"Tony agreed, and we fought. I won, and that match helped me expand quickly. The bar I won is Polka Bar!"
"Got it," Ryder nodded, understanding George's past.
George smirked. "After that, I did more underground matches and won. More guys joined me, and some bosses paid me for jobs, giving me the capital to establish myself in Houston. But I know, deep down, that both my business and the matches aren't legit. One wrong move, and I'm done for."
Ryder nodded, admiring George's clear-headedness despite his rough exterior. In George's line of work, it was easy to lose oneself, but George stayed sharp. That was why Ryder decided to give him a chance.
Ryder stood, stretched, and looked out the window at the busy street. "Do you know who issued the challenge this time?"
George shook his head. "No clue. Seems like a new force, but I'm sure they're not ordinary. Just look at Edward; he's no average guy."
Ryder asked, "Can you beat him?"
George's face stayed calm and confident. "Yeah, I'll beat him."
"Good!" Ryder turned and patted George on the shoulder. "Go for it!"
George looked worried. "Mr. Clark, I'm not scared of fighting, but what if this is a trap for you?"
Ryder smiled. "If they want to trap me, they better have a big, strong net. Otherwise, they'll regret it."
George gave a thumbs-up. "Great, Mr. Clark!"
Houston.
Fourth floor of Radiant Revive Spa.
This floor was for male clients to "enjoy" themselves. It had 88 suites, including 16 luxury ones, all decked out like the Pint House. Each luxury suite had special features like waterbeds, round beds, milk bathtubs, rose bathtubs, and plenty of erotic toys.
In one luxury room, a bald man lounged on the sofa, smoking. His eyes were glazed, and his legs felt weak. He exhaled a smoke ring. "Great!"
The door opened, and a man with a big gold chain walked in. It was Kenneth. He gestured, and the two sweaty women quickly grabbed their clothes and left.
Ronald Lopez, the bald man, smiled with yellow teeth. "The service here is amazing! If I hadn't taken a sex pill, I wouldn't even have the strength to talk to you!"
Kenneth laughed. "Glad you like it. Come here every day if you want. It's all free, and I promise a different experience each time!"
Ronald's eyes gleamed with greed. "That's generous! Looks like I'll need more of those pills!"
Kenneth's expression turned serious. "Ronald, do you think George will take the bait?"
Ronald took a deep drag from his cigarette. "I've run underground boxing rings for years and seen all kinds of people, especially in the underworld. George is a rare talent—patient, smart, loyal, and a good fighter. He's not even thirty and already has so much power. If he keeps going, he could unify all the gray forces in Houston within three years!"
Kenneth got anxious. "I didn't bring you here to praise him!"
Ronald laughed. "Don't worry! George is impressive, but he's not invincible. He won everything through underground boxing, and I can make him lose it all the same way!"
Just then, someone knocked on the door. Edward stood at the entrance.
"Edward's here," Ronald said.
He then asked, "How did it go?"
Edward replied respectfully, "I challenged him to a duel, but he didn't agree. So I gave him the letter you wrote. He must have read it by now."
A cold, confident smile appeared on Ronald's face. "If he's read the letter, he'll agree to the duel. Tomorrow night, the real show begins!"
