Chapter 387 The Crazy Gamble (6)
Everyone heard Ryder's statement loud and clear, even though he didn't shout it.
At first, they thought they misheard, but seeing the same shocked looks on everyone else's faces, they knew they heard right.
Ryder really went for it!
Things were getting real messy!
"Ryder, you're toast!"
"Forget this bet. Let's just go over there and teach this guy a lesson. See how tough he acts then."
"I can't take it anymore! Mr. Davis, if you don't want to get your hands dirty, just say the word, and we'll handle it!"
Ryder didn't care about the crowd's grumbling; his eyes were locked on Mark!
Even though Mark was a seasoned player in the underworld, used to all kinds of crazy stuff, this was the first time someone disrespected him so openly!
He was fuming inside, but he knew he had to wait for the gambling results.
Otherwise, all his planning would go down the drain!
Mark took a deep breath, closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them slowly. "Alright, what terms do you want for the bet?"
Ryder rubbed his chin and said without missing a beat, "How about this: if you lose, you go to the cops, confess you run a casino, and get it shut down for good!"
No one saw that coming!
The crowd looked at each other and burst out laughing:
"Hahaha! This is wild! Has Ryder lost his mind? How can he ask for that?"
"Everyone knows this Radiant Revive Spa's casino is Mr. Davis's baby, worth billions, maybe even close to ten billion dollars. Is your life worth that much?"
"Ryder's just being a jerk. You can't be nice to guys like him, or they'll just get worse!"
"Mr. Davis! You don't have to listen to him. Change the bet! It's your place, your rules!"
The crowd's chatter didn't mess with Mark's judgement!
He stared at Ryder, then suddenly tilted his head back and laughed, blowing out a smoke ring. "Alright! I agree! But I'm sorry to tell you, you won't live to see me turn myself in!"
Then he flipped over the hidden card, an ace of Hearts.
Adding to the four face-up cards already shown, it was Hearts: 10 J Q K A!
The crowd gasped.
"Holy crap! It's a straight flush with an Ace! I've never seen such a big hand in a real casino!"
"No kidding! The odds of getting a hand like that are tiny. Only a big shot like Mr. Davis could pull it off!"
"No wonder Mr. Davis raised the stakes like that. I'd do the same!"
"Mr. Davis wins! Ryder loses!"
Mark's henchmen, always sharp, started cheering and clapping like crazy.
They were shouting stuff like "Mr. Davis is awesome, Mr. Davis is invincible!"
This scene had been building up for way too long!
Especially Tim, who was hanging at the back of the crowd. He jumped up, grinning like a fool, shaking his head and wagging his tail like a happy dog!
He thought, 'Ryder, you're toast now! Your life's on the line! And I don't have to pay back that $60 million I owe you! Time to go back to living off rich ladies!'
Basically, the vibe was that Mark had already won!
And Ryder? Just a big ol' loser!
Mark smirked and said, "Mr. Clark, show your cards! Let's see if your hand lives up to all that big talk."
As he said this, he couldn't help but daydream about how he'd deal with Ryder later!
In his mind, the best Ryder could have was the Nine of Spades, making it Spades: 9 10 J Q K!
Even though that straight flush was big, it still couldn't beat his!
Sitting there, surrounded by mocking voices, Ryder sighed. "Well, guess we gotta face the music!"
He slowly revealed the hidden card on the table!
As the suit of the hidden card came into view, Mark, Ethan, and the crowd's faces went from smug to stiff, then to shock, and finally disbelief and fear. Ryder's hidden card was the Ace of Spades!
Adding to the face-up cards, it was Spades: 10 J Q K A, the biggest hand in Texas Hold'em!
The casino went dead silent for more than twenty seconds before someone finally broke it!
Ryan let out a fart!
Ryan didn't even feel embarrassed. He patted his butt and chuckled. "Ryder, you're a legend! Hahaha!"
George, standing behind Ryder, was also pumped, fist in the air. "Mr. Clark! You're the man!"
Throughout this round, George's heart had been pounding, his palms sweating!
He was more nervous than when he used to get into fights!
As for Rex, he had no expression on his face!
Because he didn't get the rules of Texas Hold'em from the start.
At this moment, everyone was speechless!
Ryder won?
Mr. Davis lost?
Did the impossible just happen?
Mark's eyes were glued to Ryder's Ace of Spades, bloodshot with intensity!
That Ace of Spades was supposed to be his, swapped by Ethan. How did it end up in Ryder's hand?
This was nuts!
Ethan, who had been lounging confidently, almost fell out of his chair!
He quickly revealed his hidden card!
Only to find that the Ace of Spades he had swapped had somehow turned into the Nine of Spades!
Where did this Nine of Spades come from?
Ethan, on the verge of losing it, stood up, leaning on the gambling table, and shouted hoarsely, "Ryder, you cheated! That Ace of Spades was mine, how did it end up with you?"
Ryder casually shot back, "So you're saying I stole your card and cheated right under the eyes of the Houston gambling king? If that's the case, can I get the title of the king of Houston gambling? 'Cause my skills are better than yours, right?"
