Chapter 439 The Fall of Ryder
Outside the police station, Tyler rubbed his cheek, wincing in pain.
He spat on the ground and muttered, "Ryder really did a number on me!"
Abigail, standing next to him, reached out to gently touch his cheek, fuming. "Mr. Young, Ryder's such a jerk. Why'd you let him off so easy? If you pushed harder, he could've been locked up for half a month to cool your jets."
Tyler's lips curled into a cold smile. "Half a month? Try the rest of his life."
Abigail blinked, confused. "What do you mean?"
Just then, her phone rang. It was Lawrence.
Abigail answered, and Lawrence's excited voice came through. "Got some great news for you!"
Abigail asked, "What’s up?"
"About half an hour ago, the security company Ryder invested in Houston got busted for drug trafficking. There's solid evidence linking Ryder to it, and someone reported him. He's facing life in prison, maybe even the death penalty!"
Abigail's eyes widened. "Seriously? Ryder was making money off drugs?"
Lawrence sneered. "Yep! Ryder was just a loser from the Johnson family. How else did he turn the company around so fast? Had to be dirty money."
Abigail nodded. "Makes sense. But now that Ryder's locked up, let's see him show off. This is awesome news!"
Lawrence continued, "Everyone in the Johnson family is thrilled. Heather's calling everyone over for a late-night snack. She's cooking herself. Bring Mr. Young back quick. I'll spread the news to your uncles so they can celebrate too!"
As the call ended, Abigail was so excited she almost jumped.
The big problem that had been bugging her for months was finally getting solved!
Suddenly, she remembered what Tyler had just said.
She turned to him, eyes wide with anticipation. "Mr. Young, Ryder got busted for drugs. Was it you..."
Tyler's face showed a smug grin as he cut her off. "Don't jump to conclusions! I don't know anything. Ryder was just dumb enough to fall for a little nudge. Serves him right!"
Abigail nodded. "Yeah, Ryder's an idiot. Nothing to do with us! Mr. Young, let's head home. Heather's already cooking to celebrate!"
"Alright!" Tyler responded excitedly, then playfully slapped Abigail's butt. "After dinner, how about we continue where we left off?"
Abigail pretended to be shy, playfully punching Tyler's chest. "Can't you be gentle with me?"
Tyler pulled her into his arms. "I think you deserve a Maserati. There's a Maserati show in New York next month. I'll get you the best one."
Abigail's eyes lit up. She kissed Tyler on the cheek. "Actually, I like it when you're rough. Being gentle is boring."
Tyler laughed heartily.
The next day, a major piece of news was spreading like wildfire in Houston's business circles!
Ryder, the CEO of Maple Real Estate, just got busted for drug involvement!
They also nabbed his right-hand man George and a bunch of others. Polka Bar and George Security are shut down, and Maple Real Estate is under investigation and temporarily closed!
Even though this news isn't officially confirmed yet, business owners have already verified it through their own channels.
Everyone's in shock!
Ryder, who had just taken down Mark and was on the rise, suddenly got taken out!
It happened so fast!
No one saw it coming!
People in the business circle were buzzing. "Can someone explain this? Ryder involved in drugs? That's crazy!"
"No way. I don't know Ryder well, but I've worked with Maple Real Estate. He could make money selling houses and doing construction. Why risk it?"
"People will do anything for their own gain!"
"Did you hear? Ryder seems to have pissed off an heir from the Young family in New York City. His downfall is probably linked to this Mr. Young!"
"Holy crap! The Young family from New York City? They're big even in Texas. If Ryder crossed them, he's done for! No way he's getting out of this!"
"If that's true, then Ryder's wife Sarah must be really lonely now. Such a waste of a beautiful woman. Wonder who'll be the lucky guy to get with her!"
The Johnson Mansion was buzzing with excitement!
Heather was in the yard, humming a tune, clearly overjoyed.
"Ryder, you ungrateful jerk, you're finally done for!" Heather murmured, looking years younger.
Next to her, Andy scratched his head, a bit confused. "Grandma, do you think this might be a trap? From my experience, Ryder isn't that easy to take down."
Heather shot him a look and sneered. "That's because you're an idiot! Tyler's a master strategist. You can't compare to him!"
Andy pouted after getting scolded.
Even though he wasn't convinced, he had to admit Ryder's arrest was real, and his assets were seized. He couldn't see any way for Ryder to bounce back.
Plus, now I don't have to pay back the money I borrowed from him!
Thinking of this, Andy's mood lifted.
Heather asked, "Andy, my birthday banquet is in three days. How are the preparations going?"
Andy replied respectfully, "The invitations are ready to go. And with Ryder's situation, a bunch of top Houston businessmen reached out this morning to show their support!"
Heather sneered. "A bunch of opportunists, always quick to react. But making friends with them isn't a bad thing. Announce that the Johnson family is about to marry into the Young family from New York City. Let them know they should seize the chance to get on our good side!"
Andy said, "Yes!"
Heather's eyes flashed with a cold light as she thought of something. She gritted her teeth and continued, "Ryder's down. Now it's time to make Sarah suffer!"
