Chapter 306 Cunning!
Sandra's eyes lit up. "As expected, your sources are always spot on. You must've heard how Ryder dealt with me. I hope, Mr. Davis, you can remember our old friendship and help me out!"
Mark squinted, exhaled a smoke ring, and smiled wryly. "Sandra, you're giving me too much credit. If it were just some small-time thugs, sure. But Ryder's the president of Maple Real Estate. In Houston, he's tight with big names like David, Andrew, and Jack, and has the backing of younger talents like George and Josh. I'm just an old man; what power do I have against him? I'm already old!"
The message was clear: he couldn't help.
Sandra's eyes flashed with determination. She kept massaging Mark's shoulders and spoke softly, "Mr. Davis, you're too modest. Those people you mentioned are powerful, but in Houston, they're all your juniors. In terms of connections, wealth, and strategy, they wouldn't dare oppose you for Ryder. At most, they'd stay neutral, leaving Ryder isolated. With your power, crushing him would be easy!"
Mark gave a bitter smile. "Sandra, you're still thinking too simply."
Sandra was momentarily stunned, not quite understanding.
Mark explained, "Sandra, you're usually sharp. Haven't you wondered why Ryder, so young, became the president of Maple Real Estate? I know Scott well enough to say he wouldn't put a minor character in such an important position unless that person was very important to him!"
Sandra frowned. "Do you mean Ryder has a deeper connection with Scott? Maybe he's his illegitimate son?"
Mark laughed. "I didn't say that; you're guessing. There might be other answers. Think it over yourself."
Sandra's expression turned sullen.
She had wondered how Ryder became the president of Maple Real Estate and naturally thought of Scott. But she couldn't gather any solid info.
With Mark's hint, she had some judgment.
If Ryder really was Scott's illegitimate son, things would get complicated.
Scott's influence in Houston's business world was unparalleled, and he had a strong presence throughout Texas.
Suppressing Ryder wouldn't be a problem, but if they angered Scott and he got involved personally, the consequences would be unimaginable.
However, Sandra still couldn't understand one thing.
Even if Ryder had such a background, why would Scott let him become a live-in son-in-law for the Johnson family and suffer for three years?
At this moment, Mark stood up and rubbed his back. "I'm getting old. Sitting too long makes my back hurt. I need to go downstairs and find a masseur. Sandra, if you don't have anything else, let's chat another day."
Sandra wanted to say something but held back.
She knew Mark. Once he made a decision, he rarely changed it.
This time, her visit to ask for help was futile.
Sandra forced a smile. "Thanks for your time, Mr. Davis. I won't keep you any longer. I'll treat you to a meal another day!"
"No problem!"
After saying goodbye, Sandra left his office and took the elevator downstairs. A hint of displeasure crossed her face.
She muttered, "Cunning old fox. The older you get, the more cowardly you become, only seeing profit. I did so much for you back then, and you don't even show a bit of gratitude!"
The elevator reached the first floor. As she was about to exit, a black Bentley pulled up.
A man stepped out, wearing a low-cut shirt, a thick gold chain, and a cigar in his mouth. He looked like a mob boss from a movie.
Seeing Sandra, he was stunned. "Sandra? What brought you here?"
Sandra was also surprised. "Kenneth?"
Kenneth Davis, Mark's son, was different from his father. He was more flamboyant and reckless, often acting impulsively. This personality made him many enemies in Houston, but no one dared to retaliate because of Mark's influence.
Kenneth quickly stepped forward and hugged Sandra. "Sandra, it's been years. I've missed you. I heard you returned recently. I wanted to find you, but business kept me occupied!"
Sandra smiled. "Kenneth, you're the future of the Davis family; of course, you're busy!"
Kenneth laughed with pride. "You're always a sweet talker. Since you're here, let me treat you to all the services. It's been years, and I have so much to talk about!"
Sandra's eyes twinkled as she thought of something. She nodded with a charming smile. "Alright! I've missed you too. We must have a few drinks!"
Two hours later, in a luxurious suite at Radiant Revive Spa.
Kenneth sat on the edge of the bed, panting. "Sandra, I realize now I've been living a wasted life. I used to brag about the women I had, but compared to you, they were nothing!"
Sandra, wearing nothing, leaned against the headboard, wiping sweat from her forehead. "I must say, you're one of the best men I've ever met. Two hours. That's impressive!"
Kenneth smiled, a hint of nostalgia in his eyes. "I remember the time when you were in Houston, working by my father's side. You were in your twenties then. Your figure and aura made me crave you every day. I even dreamed about it, but my father was strict and wouldn't let me touch anyone around him, so I had to hold back! Then, you suddenly got married and left the country, and I've been holding onto that ever since. To be honest, many times when I was with other women, I imagined they were you, but it always felt empty afterward, not satisfying enough! Today, being with you in person, I feel like my life is complete! You're so much better than those young women."
Sandra rested her head on Kenneth's shoulder and asked seductively, "Now that I'm in trouble, if you help me solve it, I promise to make you feel good every day from now on. How about that?"
