Chapter 441 Condition for Exchange

Sarah showed up at the police station to see Ryder that afternoon.

Vincent had pulled some strings to get her a five-minute meeting with Ryder.

But when she got there, she got hit with some unexpected news.

Ryder didn't want to see her. He was dead set against it.

He didn't want to see anyone.

Sarah's hopes were crushed.

"Why? Why won't you see me?" Sarah stood at the entrance, eyes blank, mumbling in disbelief.

Tears streamed down her face.

Despite working so hard, having many questions, and considering risking everything to break Ryder out, Sarah didn't get to see him.

Ava and Barbara, who came with her, were also in tears.

Barbara fumed, "Ryder, that jerk. He's so heartless, saying he won't see us. How could he do this to Sarah?"

Just then, a sarcastic voice chimed in from nearby.

"Isn't this the Johnson family's star, Sarah? What's got you crying at the entrance?"

Everyone turned to see Andy, wearing sunglasses, strolling over with a smug look.

Barbara snapped, "What are you doing here?"

Andy took off his sunglasses, pulled out a handkerchief to wipe them, and said coolly, "Is this your house? Do you get to decide what I do here?"

Barbara was too angry to respond.

Andy turned his mocking gaze to Sarah and continued, "You came to see Ryder, right? You should give up. Not only is it tough to see him because of the serious charges, but Ryder won't agree to see you!"

Barbara frowned. "How do you know Ryder won't see us?"

Andy sneered. "Even though we're both Johnsons, your intelligence is really lacking. Ryder was the most useless in the family, and suddenly he got powerful overnight! How prestigious is that? People might think he's so capable and comes from a prominent background! But in reality? His noble status didn't last long before he got caught up in drugs and illegal activities. Do you think he still has the guts to see you? How can he keep up his image? Right now, Ryder is done for. He's even worse off than the useless son-in-law he used to be!"

This round of mockery made Sarah and the others' faces change, their anger rising.

Sarah took a deep breath, trying to keep her cool, and asked quietly, "You didn't come here just to laugh at us, did you?"

"Of course not!" Andy said, pulling out a document from his briefcase with a sneer. "See this document? It lists Ryder's expenses over the past three years, how he used the Johnson family name to make money, sold trade secrets, and committed ten other crimes against the family! The Johnson family has contacted a lawyer and will sue Ryder for these actions. So even if Ryder somehow beats the drug charges, these crimes will easily add another ten years to his sentence!"

Hearing this, Sarah and the others' faces changed!

Sarah clenched her fists. "Andy! Ryder has never sold trade secrets or secretly made money since he joined the Johnson family. You're slandering him!"

Andy waved the document in his hand, grinning. "Slandering? You might be confused. As long as there's evidence, the law will see it as 'fact,' no matter the actual truth, right?"

With that, Andy didn't stick around to gloat and walked straight into the police station.

Watching Andy's back, Sarah's face went pale, her heart skipping a beat.

Her gut told her Ryder's situation was even worse than she thought.

Suddenly, she had an idea. "No, I can't just sit here. No matter what it takes, I will get him out. I need to find a lawyer, the best lawyer in Houston."

Inside the police station, Andy asked to see Ryder.

He didn't expect much, but Ryder actually agreed.

Ten minutes later, Andy sat in the visitation room, glancing around occasionally.

On the outside, he looked calm, but inside, he was nervous.

He'd been detained twice before and was sensitive to the atmosphere. The memory of it made him never want to go through it again.

Just then, the metal door on the other side of the glass wall opened.

Ryder, in a detention uniform, walked out with two officers.

His hair was messy, and he had dark circles under his eyes, looking exhausted, clearly having not slept.

For a moment, Andy felt a bit dazed.

Ryder, who had been so powerful and arrogant in front of the Johnson family not long ago, had fallen so quickly.

It almost felt unreal to Andy.

Ryder sat down opposite Andy, separated by the glass wall.

The officers secured him to the chair to prevent any escape attempts.

Once they stepped back, Andy's nerves relaxed.

He picked up the phone, smiling at Ryder. "Ryder, I didn't expect you'd dare to see me. What a surprise!"

Ryder picked up the phone and yawned. "You owe me two million dollars. Of course, I have to see you. What if you don't pay me back?"

"You're shameless enough to mention money you earned through shady means!"

Andy sneered. "I just ran into Sarah and Barbara outside. They were crying their eyes out. Don't you feel any shame?"

Ryder squinted and frowned. "Get to the point, or this meeting is over."

"You're actually angry!" Andy smirked, pulling out a document and pressing it against the glass. "This document has the Johnson family's evidence to sue you. Everything's well-documented. You know what'll happen if this goes to court, right?"

Ryder's expression darkened. "What do you mean?"

A glint of greed flashed in Andy's eyes as he lowered his voice. "If you agree to transfer all the shares of Maple Real Estate to the Johnson family, we'll drop the lawsuit. How about that deal?"
