Chapter 204 The Future Head of the Johnson Family
In a luxurious suite at the Pint House.
After freshening up, Sarah was lying on the bed in a bathrobe.
At this moment, there was a layer of sweat on her forehead, and her nose wrinkled from time to time, a sign of some kind of pain.
Ryder sat beside Sarah, gently massaging her abdomen with his hand.
Just as Ryder suspected.
Sarah was on her period. She had walked barefoot on the cement floor and played in the river water with her feet.
In the end, she had suffered the consequences.
After checking into the room and freshening up, Sarah started complaining about a stomachache and insisted on having Ryder massage her stomach.
Ryder had been a part of the Johnson family for three years and Sarah had always been bossy toward him.
For example, she made him wash her underwear, wash her feet, blow dry her hair, and so on.
But they had never shared the intimate experience of a stomach massage before. Thus, Ryder felt a mix of anticipation and awkwardness as he began.
Fortunately, Sarah was quite satisfied and even joked that she would have him massage her even when she had menstrual cramps.
Ryder saw that Sarah's mood had improved a lot, so he took the opportunity to ask her about the events surrounding the "private photo" incident.
Then, combining her account with his own thoughts and analysis, he provided the root cause of the incident.
When he finished, she looked surprised and said, "This has something to do with my parents. How is that possible?"
Ryder said in a calm tone, "From what you described, if your mom just wanted to inform you that she was not divorcing your dad, she could have just called you on the phone. At the very least, she could have waited for you to come home before talking about it. There was no need for her to make a special trip to your company.
"And during the time they were in your office, including when she asked you to take her out to the restroom, the only person who could have accessed your computer in the office was your dad. It's no coincidence that as soon as they left, you encountered the virus on the computer.
"Considering all those factors, the only conclusion I can think of is this."
Ryder's words left Sarah silent for a few seconds.
In fact, upon careful reflection, she knew that her parents showing up at the company in the afternoon was quite strange.
What bothered her the most was the turmoil that had been caused by the "private photo" incident. Her parents must have known about it.
According to normal logic, since they were her parents, they would have immediately called her.
But in fact is, she hadn't received a single message from them until now.
Even so, Sarah still couldn't believe that her own parents would do something like that to her.
So she countered, "I disagree. My mom and dad didn't know anything about computers. They have no idea how to create computer viruses, and... those dirty pictures too."
Ryder snapped his fingers and said, "You've touched on the key point. It's precisely because they don't know how to do those things that it’s possible. Your parents were likely being used by someone else. There must be someone behind the scenes who we both know and has a grudge against us."
Sarah frowned.
During this time, she had encountered all kinds of trouble, and she knew many people who had grudges against her parents.
Just guessing wouldn't get them any closer to figuring out who it could be.
"Should I call my parents to ask?" Sarah said, reaching for her phone.
But Ryder quickly stopped her, saying, "Don't. Your mom would never admit to this, and she wouldn't tell you the truth anyway."
"Huh? Why not?"
Ryder replied coldly with a smirk, "Why else? It's for their own interests, of course."
Sarah pouted and pretended to be angry, saying, "Hmph. You always speak in riddles and never consider my feelings."
Ryder patted Sarah's head and reassured her. "Don't worry. I'll do my best to investigate and find the mastermind behind this to clear your name. In the meantime, it'll be best for you to lay low for a few days. Emily Kelly and the reliable executive at the company can handle things.
"We just saw Casey. She even invited you to take a flower arranging class. If you go with her, you can relax your mind."
Sarah thought for a moment and sighed. "Okay. I've been busy all this time, so it'll be nice to relax for two days."
The Johnson family estate.
It was almost eleven o'clock at night, and the family was still excited and unable to sleep.
They had heard from a reliable source that Sarah suddenly disappeared from the company in the afternoon.
Grandma Johnson's face was especially happy.
"Sarah’s brought trouble upon herself this time. The company even abandoned her. It seems that SR Group is not far from bankruptcy. This is our opportunity."
Matthew quickly agreed. "It's all thanks to you and your plan, Mom. How could little Sarah be a match for you?"
Lawrence secretly criticized his brother for flattering their mother.
But he quickly started to flatter her as well. "Mom really knows how to think ahead. Now that she’s leading the Johnson family, we can strengthen our position as a second-tier family and eventually rise to the level of a first-tier family. In the end, we’ll step on them and achieve the greatness of being the first family in Houston, or even the first family in Texas."
Grandma Johnson made a satisfied humming sound when she heard that.
‘These two sons may be useless, but they sure know how to talk.’ She thought.
She leaned back on the armchair and glanced at Abigail, asking, "Abigail, what do you think about this?"
Abigail, who was playing with her phone and acting as an "informed insider" to expose "dirt" about Sarah online, looked up and said, "I’d love to see that little bitch Sarah be cursed to death, of course.
"But what's strange is that for the past two hours, people have been coming forward online to defend her. Although it seems spontaneous, there’s already a few hundred of them. I have no idea where these people came from."
Abigail had no idea what was going on.
Most of those people were SR Group employees, members of George's gang, Sarah's good friends, and the group of guys who had recently turned over a new leaf after being taught a lesson at the bar.
Andy sneered, expressing his disdain. "You know, these days, spreading rumors and smearing people is more effective than spreading the truth. Don't worry, leave everything to me."
Grandma Johnson looked at Andy affectionately. "Good, Just keep an eye on Sarah's situation, but the most important thing is the housewarming banquet in three days. We can’t make any mistakes. It's crucial to showcase the Johnson family's heritage and strength to the entire Houston."
In a meaningful tone, she added, "If you do this well, you’ll be halfway to securing the position of the future head of the Johnson family."
Andy quickly stood up, eyes shining "I’ll definitely live up to the mission."
