Chapter 400 Bullshit
Seeing this, Abigail's face went pale. She stepped up, grabbed Ryder's arm, and blurted out, "Ryder, you for real?"
Ryder just shrugged, "Yeah, totally."
Ryder wasn't faking it; he had pretty much figured out who was behind Kenneth's death!
Kenneth's death was straight-up weird.
So, for Ryder, piecing this together wasn't rocket science.
First off, Kenneth's sudden death got pinned on him, so the real bad guy had to be his enemy!
Second, after Kenneth kicked the bucket, who was the most eager to come after him?
Third, that night at the trap banquet, Sandra was all guilty, kneeling before Kenneth's portrait.
Putting all this together, it was clear as day: Sandra was the one who offed Kenneth!
But there was no solid proof. Even if he told Mark, he might not buy it!
Right then, Abigail chimed in, "Why the rush? There's still half the recording left!"
With that, Abigail hit play and let the recording roll!
The rest of the recording was still Sandra and Heather chatting!
And this time, they were talking about SR Group and Sarah!
Long story short, Sandra had bribed an SR Group employee.
She got this employee to funnel money through SR Group's accounts to the driver, making it look like SR Group hired someone to take out Kenneth!
And during their chat, Sandra even dropped the employee's name!
A name that floored Ryder—Yves!
Yves used to work for the Smith Group. After the merger, she ended up in the finance department of SR Group!
Later, when Kyle graduated and weaseled his way into being the market manager at SR Group, Yves got stuck as his secretary!
During that time, thanks to Kyle's antics, Yves got bullied a lot.
Because of this, Sarah felt super guilty. To make up for it, after Kyle got the boot, she promoted Yves to a supervisor role in the finance department!
To be fair, Sarah had treated Yves pretty well, both in terms of pay and loyalty!
But who would've thought she'd stab them in the back!
Seeing Ryder's shocked face, Abigail smirked with a hint of pride. "What do you think? Pretty mind-blowing, huh?"
Ryder nodded. "Yeah, kinda shocking!"
Abigail held out her hand, "So, time to keep your end of the deal, right?"
"No sweat! Send me the recording, and I'll wire you the cash right now!"
With that, Ryder pulled out his phone and started tapping away!
Seeing this, Abigail was thrilled and hummed a little tune as she sent the recording to Ryder's WhatsApp.
She thought she was about to hit the jackpot!
But just a few seconds after the transfer, Abigail got a notification—$9.9 from Ryder.
Abigail was floored, her mind spinning as she rubbed her eyes!
Seeing it was really just $9.9, she looked up, scowled, and snapped at Ryder, "You promised 10 million bucks, why's it only $9.9? You trying to scam me?"
Ryder didn't give her a second to react!
He just pushed the door open and bolted.
"Ryder, don't you dare! Get back here!"
Abigail yelled, flung open the car door, and chased after him!
But in her high heels, she lost her balance getting out and face-planted!
When it rained, it poured, right?
Not far ahead, there was a pile of dog poop, and when Abigail fell, her right hand landed smack on it!
Gross!
"Ah! Damn it!" Abigail was both pissed and panicked.
Ignoring the dog poop on her hand, she scrambled up to chase Ryder!
She cursed, "Ryder, you dirty rat, stop right there!"
Ryder didn't even look back and hopped into his car!
Then he had Rex start the engine and take off!
Seeing Ryder speed away, Abigail stomped her foot, eyes red with rage, "You think you can ditch me? I'll catch up with you!"
She jumped back into her car, ready to chase him down!
But just 400 feet later, the light at the intersection turned red!
In her fury, she hesitated for a couple of seconds, then decided to run the light.
Abigail cursed under her breath, deciding to go for it!
But just as she was about to floor it, a bunch of cops flagged her down, shouting, "Pull over!"
Abigail's heart sank, and she obediently parked the car.
"Get out of the car!" the cop barked again!
Abigail opened the door and stepped out!
The cop's face was stern as he scolded, "Ma'am, you just broke traffic laws."
While the cop was lecturing her, Abigail stood on tiptoe and saw Ryder's car vanish from sight!
No way she could catch up now!
A wave of frustration and anger hit her hard!
She had busted her butt to get that info.
And Ryder played her like a fiddle!
Tears finally spilled over, streaming down her face.
After about ten seconds, the cop in front of her, looking awkward, said, "Miss, I get you're upset. It's okay to cry, but could you not smear dog poop on your face? People are watching!"
Abigail looked down, realizing the dog poop on her hand was still there!
And she could smell the stink coming from her face.
Looking around, she saw a bunch of people staring, some even recording with their phones!
This time, she cried even harder!
