Chapter 522 Successfully Winning the Bid!

"$3 billion?!" The room was in total disbelief.

Rich people really do just throw money around like it's Monopoly, huh?

Everyone knew $3 billion was a straight-up loss on this deal, but no one dared to say it out loud.

All eyes were glued to Ryder, waiting for him to fire back.

After all, guys from these elite families? Their pride's worth more than gold!

But what happened next left everyone floored!

Ryder casually gave Tyler a thumbs-up and said, "Gotta hand it to you, the Young family's got guts. I'm out—you win."

With that, Ryder leaned back in his chair, putting on a face like he'd just missed out on a killer deal.

Meanwhile, Tyler, who'd been all fired up a second ago, was now completely dumbfounded!

Sure, he'd thrown out the $3 billion number on a whim, but his real game plan was to bait Ryder into going even higher, then drop out and leave him holding the bag.

Total win for Tyler, right?

But Ryder? He just pulled the rug out from under him!

Now Tyler was the one stuck holding the bag—and it was a damn expensive one!

Tyler couldn't help but ask Ryder, "Ryder, are you really giving up?"

Ryder shrugged helplessly: "What else can I do? I don't have as much money as you! I have no choice but to admit defeat!"

Tyler frowned!

Although he looked down on Ryder, he knew that with Maple Group's financial power, they could afford to bid higher than $3 billion!

But Ryder claimed he had no money!

Ryder was clearly doing this on purpose!

Everything before was just an act!

Ryder, you bastard!

Tyler's chest heaved with anger; he couldn't accept paying such a huge price!

So he went for the jugular, "Ryder, you're always strutting around like the big shot, Chairman of Maple Group, huh? What, you're gonna let everyone think you're less than me? Or are you just some figurehead? If you've got the balls, keep bidding. Or are you too chicken?"

Ryder's expression remained calm. He even took a casual sip of water. "And then what?"

Tyler froze. "What do you mean, 'and then'?"

Ryder shrugged. "The stadium's max value is 2.5 billion. With all the ghost stories floating around, it's lucky to hit 2 billion. I'm not an idiot—why would I keep bidding? I was just messing with you. Who knew you'd take it this far? Leave the stupid moves to the stupid guys. I'm not about to compete in the 'Who's the Biggest Fool' contest. You win. I'm out!”

Tyler's mind went blank, completely dumbfounded!

The other bidders finally understood Ryder's true intentions!

They couldn't help but exclaim:

"This move is ruthless. It's clear that Mr. Clark had this planned all along and trapped Mr. Young from the start!"

"Damn! That's so cunning. No wonder he could get rid of someone as tough as Milton!"

"Scary! I knew Ryder must be capable of becoming the new chairman of Maple Group!"

"$3 billion for the bid, Mr. Young is going to be a laughingstock in New York City's business circles!"

Hearing the murmurs around him, Tyler felt his face flush with embarrassment!

Tyler felt a mix of embarrassment and a sinking feeling in his gut.

He'd jumped at the chance to handle the stadium bid, promising to snag the land at a steal.

Constantine had handed him this opportunity after some serious thought, throwing in a $2 billion budget.

But Tyler couldn't go over that limit. Anything extra was on him. If he managed to save some cash, that would be his thing to keep.

Tyler had been stoked, thinking he could pocket a cool couple of billion as a bonus.

But now? Everything was going sideways!

He didn't have enough money to cover the excess, and if Constantine found out, the consequences would be more than just a scolding!

This made Tyler extremely anxious!

He quickly turned to the leaders on stage and pleaded, "Can we disregard my last bid? Let's go with Ryder's previous bid of $2.8 billion, okay?"

This request didn't sit well. One of the officials shot him a hard look. "Mr. Young, this is a government auction—fair, square, and by the book. Don't waste our time. Keep this up, and we'll report your behavior and have your company's credentials reviewed. Got it?"

This was a serious warning!

After all, any company, especially large ones, would be in trouble if scrutinized by government departments!

Normally, this official wouldn't mess with the Young family, one of New York's powerhouses.

But if he played along with Tyler, the whole bid could get tossed, and they couldn't risk losing out on that $3 billion deal!

Tyler was terrified by the leader's warning, breaking out in a cold sweat!

In the end, he had no choice but to abandon his idea and repeatedly nod, agreeing to follow the bidding rules!

The leader didn't give Tyler any more chances to backtrack and immediately announced that the winning bidder was the Young Group, with a final price of $3 billion, to be paid in full within 24 hours to complete the contract!

The bidding conference was officially over!

The suppliers left in groups, each with much to say!

It was certain that this event would generate a lot of news in New York City!

As for Tyler and his subordinates, although they won the bid, they looked as if they were attending a funeral!

Gone was the confidence they had before the bidding started!

Especially Tyler, whose face was pale. He couldn't imagine how much anger he would face from Constantine when he returned!

And the culprit behind all this was Ryder!

Tyler glared at Ryder with a cold, vengeful look: "Ryder, I will tear you to pieces!"

With that, Tyler left without another second's delay!

Ryder left with Rex and Ashley!

But as they reached the door, someone blocked their way!

It was Brent!
