Chapter 114 Sarah's Wish!

Although Sarah couldn't understand what Ryder meant, she thought that he might be the only person she could trust at the moment.

She could only nod reluctantly. "My company happens to need a General Manager for the Marketing Department, so let Aaron take the position. If he performs well, he will become the Vice President."

Karen quickly asked Aaron, "What do you think of this General Manager role?"

Aaron raised his chin and asked, "Is this General Manager position powerful? How many people can he manage?"

"He will be in charge of the entire Marketing Department, around a hundred people."

Aaron's eyes lit up. "That's not bad at all! Haha, I will definitely be the most capable among my classmates. Let's just make do with the General Manager position for now!"

Seeing Aaron's improved mood, Karen praised, "My son is the best. He just started his role as a General Manager. He will soon be promoted to Vice President. Let's see who will dare to criticize then!"

As she spoke, she glanced at Sarah.

The implication was clear.

This made Sarah feel deeply wronged!

At this moment, Aaron stood up and said to Karen, "Mom, give me some money. I want to go out!"

"What about the dinner?"

"The food at home is boring! Besides, it's even more disgusting to watch someone eat at the table. I'd rather go out and have fun with friends while eating."

Karen nodded. "Alright, young people should go out and socialize more. How much do you need?"

"About twenty to thirty thousand dollars should be enough for tonight!" Aaron said nonchalantly.

"I'll transfer it to you right away!"

Karen grinned and took out her phone to transfer the money to Aaron.

Seeing this, Ryder couldn't help but sneer.

He knew very well how stingy his mother-in-law could be.

Whether it was extorting money from him over the years or controlling Ernest's pocket money, every cent was accounted for!

But when it came to her own son, she became extremely generous!

She would give him whatever he wanted!

She insisted on raising her son like a wealthy, young heir!

It would have been strange if her son was talented with such an upbringing!

After receiving the money, Aaron kissed Karen's cheek and said, "Thank you, mom! Once I become a successful General Manager and earn a lot of money, I'll buy you a big mansion!"

Karen nodded with satisfaction. "Hmm! I'm counting on you to succeed so that I can move into a mansion. Certain people in this lifetime can forget about it. I don't even expect them to buy me a restroom!"

Ryder knew that she was talking about him, but he remained indifferent. He didn't even want to give her a single piece of tile, let alone a restroom!

"Mom, I'm heading out!" Aaron walked briskly out of the door.

Before leaving, he intentionally showed Ryder the amount he received from Karen on his phone screen. Just showing off!

After Aaron left, Sarah stood up and said, "I'm not eating either. There's still work at the company. I won't be coming back tonight!" She then walked to the door to change into high heels. Before leaving, she turned to Ryder and said, "You're giving me a ride!"

"Alright!" Ryder agreed.

Seeing this, Karen furrowed her brows and scolded Ryder, "You useless person, have you cleaned up the tableware?"

"No, I'm not cleaning it up!"

Karen slammed the table. "You have gone too far! I order you to clean up immediately, or I'll kick you out of this house!"

Ryder nonchalantly waved his hand. "As you wish!"

"This useless person! I will definitely not let him off!" Karen sat fuming on her chair. She glanced at Ernest, who was still eating with his head down, and her anger grew even more.

She waved her hand, throwing Ernest's bowl to the ground, and yelled, "Aren't you going to clean up?"

"Yeah!" Ernest replied in a low voice.

Ryder sat in the passenger seat of Sarah's car. Sarah looked displeased and asked, "Do you know why I asked you to come along?"

"Of course. You wanted to ask me why I defended Aaron!"

Sarah glanced at Ryder with surprise. "I didn't realize you were so clever! So tell me, why did you let Aaron become the general manager when you know he's young, inexperienced, and unsuitable for the position?"

Ryder rested his hands on the back of his head and retorted, "If I didn't say so, would your mother just let it go tonight with her temperament?"

Sarah shook her head. She knew her mother's temperament all too well. The argument earlier was just the beginning. If Sarah continued to insist, her mother would immediately throw herself on the ground, threaten to jump off a building, or even worse!

Ryder continued, "So, since we can't change the facts, let it happen. Your brother... "

Sarah glared, "Don't you dare say anything about my brother!"

"Um… with his ability, being the head of the marketing department, he'll definitely face numerous challenges. Once he experiences enough setbacks, he'll become more obedient!"

Sarah sighed, "When I first took over the company, there were so many headaches. I'm worried that Aaron won't be able to handle the position and cause major trouble."

Ryder smiled comfortingly. "Don't worry, I'll be there. Nothing will go wrong!"

"I hope so!" Sarah nodded. She suddenly thought of something. "Do you have your ID?"

"Yes, but why would I need to show my ID at your company?"

"I want you to book a hotel. We'll stay there tonight. Let's drive there!"

Ryder's face brightened. "No problem!"

Sarah glared at him. "We'll book separate rooms!"

"Alright." Ryder was slightly disappointed, but he asked curiously, "Didn't we just say we were going to work overtime at the company? Why do you want to stay in a hotel?"

"To be honest with you, I'm starting to realize that I can never get along with my mom at home. It's more comfortable to stay in a hotel. At least no one will disturb us!"

Ryder's eyes lit up as he suggested, "Instead of staying in a hotel, why don't we buy a house? We can move out!"

"Who said I was going to live with you?" Sarah glared at Ryder, but her face showed a hint of anticipation. "Actually, ever since I graduated from university, my biggest wish was to buy a big house of my own in Houston. It would be even better if it's a villa. But over the years, I've been too busy with work and haven't saved much money. I'm afraid I won't be able to realize this wish in the near future!"

Ryder patted his chest and said, "Then let me help you! We'll buy the most luxurious villa in Houston!"

"Just with your salary as the head of security? Let's not waste our breath! We're tired today. Let's rest in the hotel!" Sarah said.

They started the car and headed straight for the hotel.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Ryder looked out at the receding scenery, and a smile formed on his lips.

In half a month, it would be their third wedding anniversary.

He had finally figured out what to give as a gift.
