Chapter 29 The Washbasin Comes to Life!

Inside Sarah's bedroom.
The main decoration was pink, filling the air with a pleasant fragrance.
This bedroom was unfamiliar to Ryder. In the three years of their marriage, he was not allowed to enter the bedroom without her permission.
Usually, he slept in the adjacent utility room. Over the past three years, he had only entered Sarah's bedroom a few times.
Sarah sat on the bed and let Ryder pull up a chair to sit across from her.
"Do you know what I want to talk to you about?" Sarah asked.
Ryder couldn't figure it out and shook his head.
Sarah took out a diamond necklace. "Thank you for standing up for me and teaching Abigail a lesson at today's meeting. Now, you can return the necklace."
"Return it?" Ryder looked confused.
Sarah let out a soft snort from her delicate nose. "Don't think you can hide your little schemes from me. Others might not know, but do you think you can deceive me? This necklace is not one you rented from a store."
Ryder looked puzzled. "I didn't hide anything from you."
"Don't pretend with me. This necklace wasn't rented by you," Sarah said, furrowing her brows.
"Ryder! When will you stop lying? I know exactly how much money you have. How could you afford a diamond necklace? You must have used the 300,000 dollars I gave you for your sister's medical treatment to rent it!"
Ryder was dumbfounded, feeling that Sarah had an incredible imagination! But he couldn't admit that he actually bought the diamond necklace. After all, it wasn't the right time to reveal his true identity to Sarah.
So he had to go along with her words and said, "Alright, you're clever! But let's not rush to return the necklace. I... rented it a very long time ago! During this time, you should wear it. Only this necklace can complement your beauty."
Praised by Ryder, Sarah blushed. "Smooth talker! You must have spent a lot of money on renting this diamond necklace. What about the hospital fees for your sister?"
Ryder quickly made up a lie. "Don't worry, my sister suddenly received a donation from a stranger for her hospital fees. Her surgery was successful, and she has been arranged to transfer to another hospital for postoperative rehabilitation treatment!"
Sarah breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good. It seems there are still good people in the world."
Ryder's heart warmed. Despite Sarah appearing cold and willful at times, she was actually kind-hearted. It was precisely because of this that Ryder could tolerate her in every aspect of their three-year marriage!
"By the way, your mother just told me that Grandpa suddenly gave you an opportunity. What happened?" Sarah's expression changed.
Grandpa in the afternoon, she was excited and called to tell her about the bidding for the Maple Group tomorrow.
"I wonder what kind of person Mr. Clark from the HF Construction is. To become the CEO of a billion-dollar company at such a young age, he must be very capable and talented! I hope he won't make things difficult for me!" Sarah muttered with her head tilted.
"I bet he must be a handsome guy!" Ryder said with a smile.
"You don't even know him, how would you know if he's handsome?" Sarah rolled her eyes.
"Alright, stop talking nonsense and go fetch me a basin to soak my feet!"
"Sure thing!" Ryder got up and went to fetch the soaking basin.
In the meantime, Ryder took out his phone and made a call to Sophia, giving her some simple instructions.
After hanging up the phone, a cold smile appeared on his lips. "Andy, Abigail! You two are quite cunning, but I'm sorry to say that this time, I'm the only one who has the final say at the poker table. Since you want to play, I don't mind playing along!"
He prepared the foot basin and brought it into the bedroom for Sarah.
Sarah's feet were well maintained and adorable, with glistening water droplets on them.
Ryder had been washing Sarah's feet for three years. It seemed humiliating, but it had its perks!
After washing her feet, Sarah stretched comfortably and let out a long yawn. Waves were surging inside her mind.
Ryder's gaze froze for a moment as he swallowed his saliva. Sarah didn't notice Ryder's gaze and lay on the bed, looking at the ceiling, murmuring, "Working at the construction site is too hard for you. Once I secure the spot for the Johnson family and win the bid, I'll arrange a decent job for you at home. Don't disappoint me again!"
"Alright, I'll be waiting!" Ryder replied with a smile, feeling a bit touched.
This stubborn woman, even though Grandpa Johnson had emphasized repeatedly that she should divorce him within three days, she still disregarded it and focused on planning her future work. If you treat me sincerely, I will never let you down!
"Go out!" Sarah said.
"You should rest early too!" Ryder left her room emptied the foot wash basin and took a shower.
However, when he came out, he found his mother-in-law Karen sitting on the sofa, cracking melon seeds in her mouth. "Get me a basin of foot wash too!"
Ryder frowned and turned to the bathroom to prepare a basin of foot wash for Karen.
Karen continued, "Help me take off my socks for foot washing!"
"You can do it yourself!" Ryder replied calmly.
"What's the matter? You won't even wash your mother-in-law's feet when asked?" Karen furrowed her brows.
"I only wash my wife's feet, I'm not obligated to wash yours!" Ryder replied indifferently.
"What did you say? You unlucky thing!" Karen suddenly exploded, throwing the melon seeds in her hand at Ryder's head. "In this house, I have the final say. I'm your mother-in-law, and I demand you to-"
"Alright, I'll wash your feet as you wish! Otherwise, get the hell out!" Ryder flicked away the melon seed shells on his head. He didn't want to argue with this woman and turned to walk towards his room.
Karen was enraged and shouted, "You useless coward, dare to walk away? You and your sickly sister have been living off my family! Ingrate bastard! Why didn't Sam run over your sister with his car?"
These words made Ryder very uncomfortable. He turned around, his gaze fixed on Karen, and said, "Say that again, I dare you."
Karen, appearing unfazed, replied, "What if I do? If your sister dies, I'll spend ten thousand dollars on fireworks to celebrate! And I'll curse you to death as well!"
Ryder's face darkened as he walked towards Karen. "What do you think you're doing? You want to hit me? Believe me or not, if you lay a finger on me, Sarah will divorce you immediately!" Karen continued to be arrogant.
A coldness crept upon Ryder's lips. "You're my mother-in-law, how could I ever hit you? I just wanted to help wash your feet."
"That's about enough!" Karen snorted, a victorious expression on her face.
Just as she was about to put her foot into the foot basin, Ryder suddenly erupted and kicked it over.
The foot basin flipped, splashing hot water all over Karen.
"Ah!"
Another kick!
The foot basin flew through the air and landed on Karen's head.
The foot basin spun a few times on Karen's head before rolling off the couch onto the floor.
"It's burning me! I'm going to die!" Karen wailed in agony.
Ernest rushed out of the bedroom, bewildered by the chaotic scene in the living room, and asked, "What happened?"
Ryder, with an expression as if nothing had happened, replied, "Nothing, the foot basin suddenly fell!"
