Chapter 81 Please Stop Bragging!
Everyone turned back to look at Ryder, their expressions as if they were looking at a lunatic!
Andy held back his laughter. "Ryder, you think they'll come back begging in two days? Are you crazy? Do you really believe you have a chance to turn the tables?"
Ryder shrugged his shoulders, his face relaxed as he chuckled, "Who knows? Let's just wait and watch!"
Abigail sneered, "Useless man! Stop bragging!"
Seeing this, the employees who resigned to join them also followed suit:
"No wonder Sarah chose this worthless son-in-law, he's a complete waste."
"I've never seen someone so clueless before. That's why Sarah never brought him to the company. Now I finally understand why!"
"I would rather starve outside or jump off this office building than come back to work!"
They mocked Sarah and Ryder and descended the stairs.
Throughout the entire ordeal, Ryder remained impassive.
In fact, he had already anticipated that Andy wouldn't give up easily even after obtaining six million dollars; there would be further actions!
However, the extent of these actions had surprised Ryder.
It seems that Andy isn't as foolish as he imagined.
Of course, from Ryder's perspective, no matter how much Andy and his team stir things up, the outcome two days later cannot be changed!
After all, on the gambling table of this agreement, only Ryder is the one who can control everything!
At this moment, the remaining people in the office were feeling dejected.
A few employees couldn't help but burst into tears.
They couldn't accept that things had escalated to this level.
The vows they once made to expand and strengthen the company together had turned into a mirage.
Looking out the window, Sarah saw Andy leaving the company gates with many employees.
The tears she had been holding back finally fell uncontrollably.
Such is the cold reality.
"Sarah, please don't cry. We're still here, aren't we?" Emily tried to comfort her.
Kelly tightly clenched her fists and said, "Sarah, no matter what happens, we'll always be your strongest support!"
"Yeah, Sarah! Although we are young and lacking in experience and qualifications, we will do our best to help you get through this difficult time!" Bella was full of fighting spirit.
Sarah looked at these seven employees and smiled through her tears. "Having all of you as my employees already makes me happy! Thank you, thank you all!"
Emily chuckled with teary eyes.
"You all go and get busy. I'll call you if there's anything!"
Emily and the others left the office.
Sarah let out a deep sigh.
The raw material resources to the company had been cut off. There were very few employees left, and the company's account didn't have enough funds either.
According to Sarah, this gambling agreement had clearly ended in defeat!
Of course, Sarah didn't regret it.
Because this was the first time in these years that she chose to be rebellious and wanted to fight for herself.
Otherwise, she would never have agreed to Ryder's gambling agreement yesterday.
Unfortunately, the outcome of this struggle was far from satisfactory.
"Ryder, do you think I'm useless?" Sarah suddenly looked at Ryder and asked.
Ryder sat back on the sofa, poured himself a glass of water, and asked curiously, "Why do you think that?"
Sarah chuckled self-deprecatingly. "Over the past few years, I always thought I worked hard and was excellent. I did my best to perform well. I tried to avoid offending people as much as possible. But as you saw today, our partners breached the contract and my employees have turned against me! Isn't this a manifestation of my uselessness?"
Hearing Sarah's choked words, Ryder felt a tinge of heartache. "Don't indulge in such thoughts! I've always known how outstanding you are. The betrayal of those people today has nothing to do with you.
"You are not inadequate in your efforts. It's just that they don't deserve what you give. I've said it before, they will regret it in two days, and all you have to do then is remember the grievances you suffered at this moment. Don't sympathize with them and let them back into your life!"
Sarah pouted, "It's not comforting me at a time like this!"
Ryder stood up and walked toward Sarah, placing his hands on her shoulders.
Looking into her eyes with his dark gaze, he spoke sincerely, "Sarah, I know my background and abilities have disappointed you many times, and I owe you so much. But what I want to say is that I am different now, and from now on, please believe in me as your lawful husband, just as I believe in you! Do you understand?"
"I..." Sarah felt the warm breath Ryder exhaled and was inexplicably overwhelmed by a sense of shyness.
Her heartbeat even seemed to accelerate!
What is happening?
Why is she feeling emotional because of this guy's words?
This was the first time Ryder spoke to Sarah in this way, and so intimately.
He noticed the faint gloss on Sarah's lipstick-coated lips.
Ryder couldn't help but feel his mouth dry and swallowed hard!
Would it be alright if he kissed her?
Suddenly, this idea popped into his head!
More importantly, once this thought emerged, he couldn't suppress it any longer!
Ryder lowered his head slightly, pouted his lips, and was about to kiss her.
The distance between his lips and Sarah's mouth was less than ten centimeters.
Suddenly, Sarah pushed Ryder away. "Ryder, you jerk!"
"I... I didn't do anything!" Ryder hurriedly explained.
"Hmph!"
Sarah still had a stern face, and her ears turned red!
Ryder was embarrassed to the point where he wanted to disappear into the ground!
Was his three-year-long image of being decent about to be shattered?
The awkward atmosphere persisted for over half a minute.
Sarah broke the tension and said, "Let's not dwell on this anymore. You're right, everything is still uncertain. I need to cheer myself up. I can't give up just like that. I need to keep myself busy! Even if I end up losing, I will find a way to help these seven people find a good future. I still have my connections!"
Ryder pointed to himself, "What should I do then?"
Sarah gave him a glare. "Up to you! Just don't cause any trouble! Get out!"
"Alright!" Ryder shrugged and left the office, closing the door behind him.
Outside, he found a corner.
Ryder dialed a phone number and said, "How are things going?"
"Mr. Clark, everything has been taken care of. We will definitely give them a surprise in two days!" came the calm response from the other end.
"Thank you for your hard work!"
Ryder ended the call.
A smirk formed at the corner of his mouth as he murmured, "The show is about to begin..."
