Chapter 438 Ryder Beats Up Tyler
Tyler and Abigail strolled out of the hotel that night, both looking pretty pleased but a bit worn out. The afternoon had been quite the workout!
Abigail clung to Tyler's arm, purring, "Mr. Young, you're incredible. I can't stand being away from you. What am I gonna do?"
Tyler chuckled, tapping her nose with his finger. "Well, if you can't be without me, just stick around. As long as you're with me, you won't have to worry about a thing!"
Abigail's eyes sparkled with secret joy, but she played it cool. "That's easy for you to say, but you're Barbara's fiancé. Isn't it a bit inappropriate for me to stay with you?"
Tyler waved it off. "Who cares about her? Just because you marry someone doesn't mean you're stuck with them forever. Besides, compared to you, Barbara's nothing!"
Abigail felt a surge of pride at his words. She was more convinced than ever that she'd end up marrying Tyler.
Just as she was basking in her thoughts, her smile froze. Someone was blocking their path—Ryder!
Seeing Ryder, Abigail's anger flared. She hadn't forgotten how he tricked her into smearing dog poop on her face recently. 'Ryder, you jerk, you're gonna pay for that!' she thought.
Tyler's expression turned icy when he saw Ryder.
Tyler spoke first, "Ryder, what a coincidence running into you here!"
Ryder walked straight over, his face serious. "Tyler, did you go to Sarah's company this afternoon?"
Tyler nodded nonchalantly. "Yep. She's gorgeous. Can't figure out how she ended up with you!"
Before Tyler could finish, Ryder grabbed him by the collar, eyes blazing. "Watch your mouth!"
Tyler was momentarily taken aback. He'd been trying to provoke Ryder but didn't expect such a strong reaction. Perfect.
Tyler smirked, pushing further. "Just speaking the truth. Honestly, if you don't mind, you could let me have your wife. I'll pay. Wanna try? I heard you haven't even slept with her yet, so it's not too much to ask!"
"Shut up!" Ryder roared, landing a punch square on Tyler's left cheek.
Tyler staggered and hit the ground, tasting blood. He spat out a mouthful and realized he'd lost a tooth. That punch was powerful!
Abigail was stunned for a moment, then started yelling at Ryder. "Ryder, are you nuts? Do you know who you just hit? The heir of the Young family from New York City! How dare you mess with him?"
Ryder ignored her, glaring down at Tyler. "I'll ask you again, did you have anything to do with George and the sand factory?"
Tyler wiped the blood from his mouth, looking up with a sinister grin. "What are you talking about? I don't get it."
Ryder's frown deepened. "Are you still playing dumb with me?"
Tyler shrugged. "Say whatever you want. I don't know a thing!"
"Bastard!" Ryder cursed, ready to kick Tyler, which freaked Abigail out!
She quickly screamed, "Help! Someone's getting beaten up! Someone's gonna get killed, help!"
Her shout grabbed the attention of people at the hotel entrance. They rushed over, looking outraged.
"What are you doing? Stop it!" one yelled.
"Yeah! Bullying a girl and her boyfriend in front of everyone, don't you feel ashamed?" another chimed in.
"If you don't stop, we'll call the cops! Young people these days are so reckless!" someone else added.
But their attempts to calm Ryder down didn't work. He kept cursing at Tyler, lunging forward a few times, making Tyler back up in fear. If it weren't for the crowd, Tyler would've been toast!
The scene at the hotel entrance was getting more chaotic by the second.
Then, someone shouted from a distance, "The police are here!"
That shout did the trick. The chaos died down immediately.
Everyone turned to see two police cars pulling up, with several officers jogging over.
One officer shouted, "Everyone stop! Stand still!"
Everyone obeyed, except Ryder, who was still fuming and glaring at Tyler, ready to throw down at any moment.
The police quickly got to work, investigating the situation. Based on the onlookers' testimonies and Tyler's complaints, they figured out it was a fight, with Ryder being the main culprit.
Ryder was taken away, and Tyler and Abigail followed the police to give their statements. After they left, the crowd dispersed.
From a nearby coffee shop, a bald guy with a cobra tattoo on his head stepped out—it was Viper. He watched the police cars leave, a cold glint in his eyes. He pulled out his phone, dialed a number, and said, "The plan continues, no mistakes. Take action immediately!"
Two hours later, Ryder and Tyler handed their statements to the duty officer at the police station. After some mediation, it was decided that Ryder was mainly responsible for the fight and had to pay Tyler a thousand bucks and apologize. That would be the end of it, and Ryder wouldn't face any detention or other penalties.
For the duty officer, street fights were a daily thing, and this was the usual way to handle them.
Just as the duty officer was about to file the statements and let them go, there was a knock on the interrogation room door.
A young intern officer walked in, approached the duty officer, and whispered something in his ear. The duty officer's expression turned serious. "Okay, I understand. You can go," he said.
The intern officer left, and the duty officer glanced at Tyler. "Alright, your matter is resolved. You and your friend can go now."
Tyler nodded eagerly. "Thank you!" He stood up, shot Ryder a fake smile, and mouthed, "You're done for!"
Tyler then left the room, leaving Ryder and the duty officer alone.
The duty officer knocked on the table and said sternly, "Ryder, we just got word your investment business is tied to drugs. We need to take you for questioning. Follow me!"
