Chapter 211 Let Me Take You In.
Various local specialties were scattered everywhere.
Some even rolled onto the distant lawn.
Matthew shrugged as if he had done something completely normal.
Laura quickly squatted down and picked up the local specialties from the ground.
Sighing bitterly, she said, "What are you doing? You've wasted all this."
Matthew stood with his hands in his pockets, full of contempt, and scolded, "This pile of junk seems like it's only good for feeding pigs. How dare you bring them to us? Don't think I don't know what you're thinking. You probably want to take advantage of our family because we’re successful now. To be honest, sometimes I think it’s terrible to have poor relatives like you."
Laura hurriedly waved her hand and explained, "I really didn't mean that. You must have gotten the wrong idea."
Matthew angrily rebuked her. "Get lost. Don't explain it to me; I don't want to hear it. Go far away and stop embarrassing the Johnson family."
Laura sighed heavily, disappointment appearing in her clouded eyes.
And at this moment, Rex, who was standing beside Laura, clenched his fists and took a step forward, glaring at Matthew.
He looked like a wild animal about to break free from its cage.
Matthew sized up Rex and furrowed his brow, saying, "How dare you look at me like that, you stupid country bumpkin? You clearly lack education and you’re a waste of space."
As soon as he said that, Rex's gaze intensified, and he was about to take action.
Laura suddenly spoke up and shouted at him. "Rex. Don't cause trouble."
The fierceness in Rex's eyes immediately dissipated, replaced by a somewhat lifeless look from before.
He stood behind Laura obediently.
Laura sighed helplessly and said to Matthew, "Fine. Since you don't welcome us, so be it. It's enough to see that my brother's family is happy. Rex, let's pack up and go back."
Then she gestured for Rex to pick up the local products on the ground.
Ernest furrowed his brow and said to Matthew, "How can you treat your aunt like that?"
Then he spoke to Laura, "Don't rush to leave, Auntie Laura. Why don’t you stay at our place for a few days?"
Before Laura could answer, Karen, shouted, "Ernest. Mind your own damn business. Who gave you the right to bring just anyone into our house?"
Ernest said in a muffled voice, "She’s not just anyone."
"That still won't work. Don't stand there any longer. Hurry up and come in with me."
As she spoke, Karen grabbed Ernest's ear and pulled him toward the entrance of Platan Heights Villa Community.
She didn't want Laura to stay partly because she looked down on that old lady from the countryside.
She was also worried that if Grandma Johnson found out about this, she would hold a grudge against her.
It would be troublesome if their invitation to the housewarming feast was canceled.
Laura sighed with complex emotions as she watched Karen and her family turn around and disappear into Platan Heights Villa.
When she and Rex finished packing up the local products, they were ready to leave.
Ryder, however, stopped her and said, "Since you've finally come to Houston, don't just leave. Stay with me for a few days. Today happens to be the three-year anniversary of my marriage to Sarah, and it would be even better if you could be our witness."
Laura looked surprised and a bit embarrassed as she asked, "Really?"
"Of course. Let me take you in first," Ryder said as he supported Laura's arm and walked toward the entrance of the community.
Matthew looked displeased and said, "Hey. Don’t you have any shame? We've said many times that you’re not good enough to attend the housewarming banquet. Don't think about sneaking in."
Ryder narrowed his eyes slightly and coldly asked, "Who said you had to be good enough to enter this community for a housewarming banquet?"
Matthew sneered. "Oh? Do you think you're the owner of a Platan Height villa with the privilege to come and go as you please?"
Lawrence laughed. "You can't say that. A man can dream. After all, it's not illegal for him to claim to be the legendary owner of the number one villa."
The surrounding guests burst into laughter.
They felt that Ryder was more of a loser than the rumors suggested.
Ryder ignored them.
He walked to the entrance of the community with Laura and Rex and took out an access card from his pocket.
He swiped it.
The gate opened.
He walked straight in.
Matthew and Lawrence’s eyes immediately widened when they saw that.
'What... what is going on?' Matthew wondered.
How could Ryder have access to the Platan Height villa community?
Matthew pointed at Ryder and shouted, "You, stop right there."
Ryder turned around, furrowing his brows slightly, and asked, "Are you done yet?"
Matthew's face darkened as he questioned, "You little brat. Did you steal the access card? That's theft; believe it or not, I'll report you to the police."
"Whatever."
Ryder didn't pay any attention to him and, continued walking forward with Laura and Rex, ignoring Matthew.
"Damn it. What the hell is going on? I wish I could just beat him up. He looks so arrogant."
Lawrence said, "Don't worry about that. Ryder must have infiltrated this place, and even if we report him to the police and catch him, it won't have any effect."
"Do you mean..." Matthew asked.
Lawrence's eyes flashed with malice, "He infiltrated this place for a reason. He’s definitely hoping to gain some benefits from our family's housewarming banquet. We don’t have to stop him. We need to let him finish it. Then, we can catch him red-handed and make the charges stick. That would be interesting."
Matthew laughed. "Haha. That’s a good plan. Alright, we’ll let that guy show off for a while, and we'll continue to accept gifts..."
Now, let's talk about Ryder.
He walked straight toward Villa No. 1 with Laura and Rex.
Laura and Rex looked around, nervous and shocked, as they walked on the wide and beautiful roads in the neighborhood,
It was spectacular.
Laura asked anxiously and curiously, "Ryder, is what Matthew said true? Did you steal the access card from somewhere else?"
Ryder smiled and replied, "This card is mine. I own a place here."
Laura didn't question Ryder's words and excitedly murmured, "I knew you wouldn't do that. You’ve really made progress after three years. It seems like what I said back then was right."
Soon, the group arrived at the front gate of Villa No. 1.
At this time, there were some people busy preparing in front of Villa No. 1 and its surroundings.
When they saw Ryder approaching, a tall, bald man came out from the crowd.
It was George.
"Mr. Clark, you're back." George greeted Ryder respectfully.
Then he looked at Laura and Rex beside Ryder.
However, when his gaze fell on Rex, his pupils slightly contracted, and his body involuntarily tensed up.
It was as if he had sensed a very dangerous aura.
