Chapter 284 I Am the President of Maple Real Estate!
Everyone's eyes locked onto the newcomer.
This guy was dressed in a pricey suit and fancy leather shoes and walked in like he owned the place.
It was Ryder.
In his black suit, he looked like a black dragon, ready for battle.
He was about to shake things up.
The Johnson family, who had been smug and thought they had it in the bag, nearly fell out of their chairs.
Holy crap!
Why was it, Ryder?
Wasn't he supposed to be captured and out of the picture?
All eyes turned to Matthew.
Matthew was so scared he was shaking, his mind a complete blank.
He thought, 'Why's everyone looking at me? I don't know anything!'
Even Sandra, usually so calm, panicked for a moment, cold sweat forming on her forehead.
'Damn it! What's Ryder doing here?'
Sarah's eyes widened, and she pinched her arm.
Ouch!
She wasn't dreaming.
Tears started streaming down her face.
She thought, 'As long as Ryder's okay.'
Everyone else looked shocked, too.
Those who didn't know Ryder were curious about him.
Those who did know him wondered why he was here.
Ryder ignored the stares and whispers, heading straight for Sarah.
He pulled out a handkerchief and, in front of everyone and the cameras, gently wiped away Sarah's tears. "Sorry, babe. I'm late."
Sarah's body trembled, emotions all over the place.
She didn't know whether to cry or laugh. "Where were you? Are you okay? Do you know how worried I was?"
Ryder felt a pang in his heart.
With a wife who cared so much, he needed nothing else.
He kept wiping her tears. "I made you worry. I'll explain later, but first, let me handle the Maple Real Estate stuff."
Sarah looked down, feeling guilty. "Ryder, I'm sorry, I..."
Ryder patted her head gently. "Don't say that. Just sit tight and leave the rest to me."
He gave her a confident look.
Even though Sarah couldn't see a way out, Ryder's attitude made her feel strangely reassured.
She bit her lip and nodded.
At that moment, Grandma Johnson couldn't stay quiet. She stood up and yelled, "You're just a security head at Maple Real Estate. You have no authority here! Get out! You don't belong at this press conference!"
Others quickly joined in. "Ryder, you're just a lowly son-in-law. Don't embarrass yourself here!"
"Even Miss. Anderson from Maple Real Estate isn't saying anything. Why are you making a scene?"
Ryder narrowed his eyes, a cold smile forming on his lips.
He stepped up to the podium, all eyes on him.
Sophia, still in shock, jumped up and stood beside Ryder.
Ryder placed his hands on the table, leaned into the mic, and calmly asked, "Who said I have no right to be here?"
Sandra turned, glaring at him. "I did. What are you gonna do about it?"
She then addressed the crowd, "Let's not hide it anymore. Ryder was a live-in son-in-law of our Johnson family! He's the most shameless, morally bankrupt person I've ever met! Despite being married, he cheated on Sarah—with a man! And that man is the president of Maple Real Estate. Through this relationship, he got the president to invest in SR Group, engaging in dirty money laundering!"
The crowd was stunned.
"Oh my God! Such explosive news?"
"No wonder the news said the president of Maple Real Estate was gay; it turns out his boyfriend is Ryder!"
"Did you just find out? I knew it long ago. Sarah condoned all of this! They'd do anything for money!"
Sarah's eyebrows furrowed as she glanced at Ryder on stage.
'Could this really be true?'
'Is Ryder's sudden wealth and mystery because of this?'
'No way!'
'Absolutely not!'
'How could Ryder be gay?'
'If he were, he wouldn't have tried to be intimate with me!'
After all, she had personally helped him masturbate not long ago!
At least in terms of orientation, Sarah was sure Ryder liked women.
A cold glint flashed in Ryder's eyes.
He finally knew who was behind the rumors that he was gay.
Since they were so shameless, he’d play along.
Ryder sneered, "You say I'm in a relationship with the president of Maple Real Estate?"
"That's right!" Sandra affirmed.
Ryder straightened up, his powerful aura expanding. "Then what if I say that I am the president of Maple Real Estate? How would you explain that?"
Silence. For a good seven or eight seconds.
Then, the Johnson family burst into laughter. "Did you take the wrong meds today? It's one thing to lie normally, but now you're saying this? Why not claim to be the richest person in the world?"
"Ryder! Even though I dislike you, I suggest you see a psychiatrist; there must be something wrong with your brain!"
"A worthless live-in son-in-law, being the president's boy toy, is already good enough! Stop dreaming!"
Everyone else shook their heads and laughed.
Some TV station executives even wanted to send someone up to kick Ryder off the stage.
They finally had a high-rating press conference; they didn't want Ryder to ruin it.
Ryder listened to the negative comments below.
He calmly took out his ID badge and proof documents from his pocket, placed them on the table, and stood them up.
He looked at the crowd with a half-smile. "Please take a look at what it says here. If any of you are illiterate, I suggest you buy a dictionary and look it up!"
