Chapter 525 The Young Group and the Stadium
Tyler's face turned ghostly pale as he stammered, "Dad, it's not on me. It's that asshole Ryder—he played me! If it weren't for him, I could've nailed the stadium for under two billion!"
"Bullshit!" Constantine barked, his eyes turning stormy. "I don't give a damn how good Ryder is—that's no excuse for your screw-up! Figure out how to cover the overbid, or pack your bags and get the hell out of here!"
Tyler nodded repeatedly, "Yes, I'll find a way to fill this gap! But, Dad, I noticed something strange at the auction."
"What strange thing?"
Tyler looked around and then whispered in Constantine's ear, "Dad, I strongly suspect that Brent is collaborating with Ryder."
After speaking, Tyler looked at Constantine's somewhat grim face and felt a sense of satisfaction.
He knew very well that years ago, Constantine had used ruthless means to bring down the Wallace family. On the surface, the Young family had won!
But only Tyler, as his son, knew that Constantine's hatred for the Wallace family went beyond that.
"Alright, I'll allocate $4 billion to you. Make sure you manage the stadium well! Don't fail like the Wallace family did here!"
Hearing this, Tyler was delighted and promised, "This time, I won't let you down!"
Constantine stood up and kicked Tyler, "Get your head straight! And about Barbara—you mentioned marrying her. Our family doesn't take in anyone with a mediocre background. You better rethink that!"
"Yes, you're right!"
"If there's nothing else, get out! You're an eyesore!"
Tyler left the chairman's office.
He closed the door.
A strong hatred flashed in his eyes!
Ryder, just you wait!
Watch me turn the stadium into the top property in New York City. I'll make sure you lose to me!
Two days later!
The headlines of New York City's business news revealed two major pieces of information:
First: The Young Group bought the stadium land for $3 billion!
Second: The Young Group is investing another $4 billion. What makes the stadium so special?
Without exception, both were related to the Young Group and the stadium!
The news shocked everyone in New York City!
Everyone speculated about what the Young Group was planning. Could this be another major shift among New York City's elite families?
Of course, those who knew the truth about the auction saw it as a joke!
In Pearl Peak, at the Moore family's villa.
Gabriel watched the news on TV and discussed the Young family with Jasmine and Lisa.
As for Kyle, who had married into the Moore family, he was squatting in front of the coffee table, shelling sunflower seeds for the family.
And they were the kind that were extremely hard to shell!
But Kyle still managed to shell a large plate!
"Honey, you mentioned the chairman of Maple Group, Ryder. What's his background? How could he make the Young family suffer such a big loss?" Jasmine asked while grabbing some sunflower seeds to eat.
Gabriel shook his head, "I'm not sure about his exact background, but he must be unaware of New York City's situation to be so arrogant! I heard that Ryder is even planning to invest $4 billion in Brent's company. Isn't that foolish?"
Hearing this, Jasmine sighed, "I thought Maple Group was really going to change the situation in New York City. But now it seems, Maple Group won't last long!"
Jasmine's tone was a bit harsh, and she couldn't help but cough.
She lashed out at Kyle beside her, kicking him hard. "What kind of crappy sunflower seeds did you peel? I'm choking! Get me some water, now!"
Kyle stumbled to the ground but scrambled up, rushing to grab a glass of water.
He handed it to her, trying to keep his cool. "Here, Mom, drink this."
Jasmine took a sip and immediately spat it out, drenching Kyle.
"What the hell is this? Lukewarm garbage! Are you messing with me?"
Kyle clenched his teeth, forcing an explanation. "Mom, I didn't want you to burn yourself, and the water from the dispenser is safe, so—"
"So what? Cut the excuses! You're from some backwater—you don't get what quality is! I'm done wasting my breath on someone as useless as you!"
With that, Jasmine threw the glass of water at Kyle.
"Clean this up!"
Then, Jasmine said to Gabriel and Lisa, "Let's go. Breakfast should be ready by now. Let's eat!"
Gabriel followed Jasmine and left.
Lisa strutted over to Kyle, her face twisted in a mix of a pout and disgust. "Serves you right. If you crash early again like last night, don't expect me to bail you out!"
Kyle's legs almost gave way at her words.
He forced a grin, trying to smooth things over. "Lisa, don't buy into that online crap. It's all BS!"
Last night, he was too wiped out to get it on with Lisa, so he hit the sack early.
Lisa had googled: Why does a guy avoid sex?
Ninety-nine percent of the answers said: He's just not into her anymore!
So, his whole "I'm into you" act? Just because she's a Moore.
First thing in the morning, Lisa went ballistic, and Kyle had to grovel, explaining over and over.
Finally, he caved and promised to make love to her tonight.
Only then did she back off—for now.
"Men's words are full of lies!" Lisa pouted, pushed Kyle, and headed to the dining room.
Kyle barely steadied himself, suppressing his exhaustion, and began cleaning up the mess.
If he heard correctly, Jasmine and Gabriel were discussing Ryder!
The chairman of Maple Group, Ryder!
Damn it!
How did Ryder get so lucky to become the chairman of Maple Group?
Ryder, just you wait. Even though we're both in matrilocal marriages, I'll surpass you!
I'll make you kneel before me and apologize!
Just as he was thinking this, he heard Jasmine's cursing and Karen's screams from the dining room!
It turned out Karen had burned the eggs!
In a fit of rage, Jasmine picked up a bowl of steaming porridge and threw it at Karen's face!
"My face!" Karen yelped, clutching her cheeks in pain as she bolted to the sink to splash water on it.
She smacked her head against the glass door on the way, stumbling into the kitchen like a wreck.
Finally, she cranked the cold water and doused her face, trying to soothe the burn.
She'd thought Kyle marrying into the Moore family would mean her living the high life—endless cash, luxury, the works.
But now? Here she was, slaving away for them, bending over backward.
For what?
Her chest tightened, her nose stung, and the tears just wouldn't stop.
"Mom, don't cry!" Kyle's voice came from behind.
Karen's body stiffened.
She sniffed, turned around, and forced a smile at Kyle, "It's just the pain, I'm fine! You go sit and eat, I'll bring the breakfast from the kitchen!"
"Don't bother, they all went out to eat!" Kyle added, "Mom, it's okay. We'll tough it out for now! Think about Ryder—he hasn't had it half as hard as me. I'll crush him in the long run, just you wait!"
Kyle's eyes were full of hope and calculation!
