Chapter 584 "Tyler, you stay!"
Since Brent didn't want to keep talking about it, the three of them switched gears and started chatting about work as they made their way to the big conference room.
Within half an hour, the execs from Maple Group started trickling in.
After Ryder's couple of rounds of layoffs, the execs were a lot more obedient. But the suspicion on their faces was evident. Why was Brent, an outsider, at their executive meeting? But no one dared to ask.
The meeting kicked off.
Ryder didn't waste any time. "Alright, everyone, remember what we talked about last time?"
The execs nodded eagerly.
"Absolutely! It was unforgettable! We were so short-sighted about the Rigal Sports Complex land. Now, everyone's lining up to work with us, even the Moore family is sniffing around!"
"Exactly! We were worried that the $4 billion investment would tank, but now it looks like the Rigal Sports Complex has huge potential. It's gonna be worth way more than $4 billion!"
"You're a genius, Mr. Clark."
As the execs kept going on, Ryder cut them off.
"Let's cut the fluff!"
The room went silent.
Ryder stood up and said calmly, "Also, I think there's a misunderstanding. The $4 billion wasn't for the Rigal Sports Complex."
What? The execs looked even more shocked.
Francis had a hunch but wasn't sure. "Are the rumors true that we are developing an app like the Treasure Hunt App?"
Francis's words set off another round of chatter.
"The Young family's Treasure Hunt App just launched yesterday. They got that big-shot celebrity Ken to promote it, and it hit over 50 million downloads in a day! But then Ken got into trouble this morning. Looks like the Young family's project is in hot water."
"Maybe not, considering the Young family's deep pockets!"
"That's not the point! The point is, if we have a similar app, we can ride the wave and save on promo costs while building our brand!"
The execs were buzzing with curiosity and excitement.
This was a big chance for Maple Group to grow. How could they not be pumped?
Ryder gave them a thumbs up. "You're right, we do have something like that in the works!"
The execs were thrilled to hear it. Just as they hoped!
Ryder added, "And the details of this project were nailed down thanks to the teamwork between our director, Mr. Baker, and Mr. Wallace from Ascend Properties! Now, let's have Mr. Wallace give us the lowdown with a PPT."
"Awesome!" The execs straightened up and clapped enthusiastically.
Brent took a sip of water and started his presentation.
He covered everything from the project's start, investment, development, process, completion, and market prospects. It was clear and to the point.
He wrapped it up in ten minutes.
Ryder then chimed in, "We can't go for a business model like the Treasure Hunt App, which is clearly trying to monopolize the market! Even if we wanted to, the policies and other conditions wouldn't allow it. So, the goal of launching the GoldenEagle APP is to serve the public!"
"We'll first become the industry leader in Aurora City and then bring Passionate Property Management Company under Maple Group, turning it into Maple Eagle Logistics Company! Creating a fast and convenient logistics system! This task will be fully entrusted to Eli! Any objections?"
Eli jumped up and patted his chest, saying, "No problem! Absolutely no problem! Thanks, Mr. Clark, for this chance! I'll make sure Maple Eagle Logistics becomes a top-notch system in Aurora City and even nationwide!"
Ryder started clapping, and the execs followed suit.
Some of Eli's buddies couldn't resist teasing him.
"Eli, you're one lucky guy! How'd you land such a big project with Mr. Clark?"
"Spill the beans! You've been keeping this under wraps! How'd you get in with him?"
Eli rubbed his forehead and said, "Honestly, it's kinda embarrassing! My son got into some trouble, and if it weren't for Mr. Clark's kindness, things would've gone south."
"Oh, got it!" The execs nodded in understanding.
One of them joked, "I wish I had a son like that! This is a golden opportunity! I'm really jealous of Eli!"
Someone quickly retorted, "No, no, no, think about Milton and his son, better forget it! The real deal is that Eli is honest and hardworking!"
"Yeah, totally!"
The room was buzzing with good vibes.
Meanwhile, over at the Young Group, things were tense.
Constantine was so mad he threw the documents all over the floor.
He glared and shouted, "Useless bunch, get out and find a solution! Tyler, you stay!"
Once the room was cleared, leaving just Constantine and his son Tyler, Constantine walked up and slapped Tyler hard.
Blood oozed from the corner of Tyler's mouth, but he didn't dare say much.
Constantine roared, "You useless fool, what did I tell you yesterday? Huh? It's been no time at all, and you've already messed things up!"
"Tell me, what are we gonna do about our Treasure Hunt App? This is a big deal with Capital City, worth over a hundred billion dollars! Do you want to bankrupt the Young family?"
"Look at the news now, saying Ken isn't just some time manager! He's into group sex! He's evading taxes! Some even say he hired a surrogate and has twin daughters!"
Tyler covered his face but stayed calm. "Dad, it's not as bad as you think."
Constantine kicked him hard.
Tyler took the blow to his abdomen without flinching.
Constantine kept cursing, "I thought you had grown up after the Rigal Sports Complex mess, but you're just an idiot! I don't have a son like you. Get out!"
Tyler stayed calm and didn't leave.
The room fell into an awkward silence.
Constantine sat down, still fuming.
After a while, he looked at Tyler, gritting his teeth. "Still not leaving? Do I need to call security to throw you out?"
Tyler then explained, "Dad, it's really not as bad as you think! I have a way to build a stronger relationship with the Jones family! If we do that, the Treasure Hunt App failing won't matter!"
"Plus, it's just bad news about Ken right now. We can distance ourselves from him. Our Treasure Hunt App still has ten million users, which is pretty good compared to other apps!"
"What do you mean?" Constantine squinted his eyes.
Tyler smirked slightly, "Dad, I heard Ken's girlfriend Anna is in Aurora City."
