Chapter 141 You have been fired!
In the afternoon, on the 20th floor of Maple Real Estate's office.
Ryder was looking at the company's financial report.
Sophia knocked on the door and came in.
"Mr. Clark, something happened to SR Group!"
Sophia went straight to the point.
Ryder looked up, "What happened?"
"Three hours ago, there was a conflict between Aaron, the newly appointed general manager of the marketing department at SR Group, and Jaxon at a business dinner! Jaxon got injured and hospitalized. Now the news about this incident is spreading in the Houston construction circle, and they are discussing a collective boycott of SR Group!"
Upon hearing this, Ryder's gaze slightly froze, "What was the cause of the conflict between the two of them?"
"According to the information, Aaron refused to reduce the procurement cost and planned to extend the delivery time for building materials. He even forcefully demanded Jaxon's signature, but Jaxon didn't agree and got beaten. To be honest, after so many years in the business world, this is the first time I've heard of such unreasonable business negotiations!"
Ryder sighed helplessly, "I knew it would turn out like this!"
He knew Aaron's temperament too well.
Due to Karen's excessive indulgence, this bastard had developed an arrogant and self-centered personality from a young age.
Coupled with genetic factors, he inherited Karen's unreasonable and greedy nature.
To be honest, a person like him could cause trouble in any corner of society!
Sophia continued, "Jaxon has some fame and connections in Houston. If a person like him is being bullied and it really triggers a boycott in the construction industry, it will undoubtedly add to SR Group's current problems!"
Ryder nodded, feeling somewhat frustrated.
He wondered if Sarah would be able to weather this crisis.
Since morning, Sarah had been out of the office.
After dealing with her partners in face-to-face meetings, she was completely exhausted by the time she returned to the office in the afternoon.
Luckily, hard work paid off. The negotiations with all the partners went smoothly, or at least she managed to minimize the losses.
However, this moment of relief lasted no more than ten minutes before news about Aaron’s temper and Jaxon’s hospitalization broke out.
Soon after, Sarah's phone started ringing incessantly with calls from the bosses of her partners. All the partners, whom she had finally managed to negotiate with, suddenly changed their minds and refused to cooperate with SR Group.
They even threatened to hold her responsible for breach of contract and demanded compensation. Some of the hot-tempered bosses even used profanity when speaking to Sarah on the phone. This was completely unexpected for Sarah and came as a thunderbolt out of the blue.
What on earth happened for Aaron to do this to Jaxon?
She quickly called Aaron, but nobody answered. In her urgency, Sarah contacted Zoey to find out where Aaron was. Zoey nervously replied that Aaron had gone straight home after the negotiations and hadn't returned to the office.
Without wasting a second, Sarah, feeling furious, drove home.
Meanwhile, Aaron was lying on the couch, playing on his phone and chatting with Lighting. Lighting mentioned that her mother was unwell and had been hospitalized, and she had borrowed $30,000 from relatives, who were now pressuring her to repay the debt.
Aaron assured her that he could help with the $30,000.
At that moment, Karen was sitting on the adjacent couch, peeling an apple for him and doting on him, saying, "My dear son, I remember when you were just born and couldn't even reach my arm, and now you've grown up to be such a handsome and talented person!"
"Of course!"
Aaron's eyes shifted as he pondered how to get $30,000 from his mother. Just as he had a sudden idea, the bedroom door swung open abruptly. Sarah, with a grim expression, was standing at the doorway!
Karen stood up, looking expectant, and asked, "You're back so early, have you finalized the divorce with that useless Ryder?"
Sarah didn't even acknowledge Karen. Without taking off her shoes, she walked straight into the room and sternly questioned Aaron, "What did you do at noon?"
Aaron acted as if nothing had happened and replied, "Oh, nothing much. Just had a meal with that Jaxon and discussed business. He seemed honest on the surface, but he's actually quite cunning. But don't worry, I gave him a piece of my mind! He's not even worthy of partnering with us!"
Karen praised him, giving a thumbs up, "Truly deserving of being my son. Only a few days into being the general manager, and you're already helping your sister with her troubles!"
Sarah was infuriated by these words. "Mom! You know what happened, and yet you're siding with him?"
"What happened?"
Sarah said, her eyes red, "This morning, one of the company's warehouses caught fire. The conservative estimate of the losses is at least $50 million, and to avoid the compensation because of breach of contract, I intended to let Aaron stabilize the other party's emotions, but...but he actually hit someone, causing the entire Houston construction community to join forces to boycott us!! Our company might go bankrupt!!"
"Oh my god!" Karen turned pale with fright. "Such a big incident happened! Then...you need to come up with a solution quickly. If the company goes bankrupt, what will Aaron do about the money he was going to use to buy a villa and get married?"
"Mom! At a time like this, you're still thinking about a villa? Can't you even see your son’s fault? He messed up with such an important matter entrusted to him!"
Little did Sarah expect Karen to widen her eyes and say, "What does this matter have to do with Aaron? He was only trying to help your company sincerely. He didn’t mess it up deliberately, did he?"
"You..." Sarah's voice halted, and then she turned to question Aaron, "What did you promise me this morning before you left? Now that things have turned out like this, how can I face so many cooperating partners? How can I face the company? How can I face the employees who were injured and hospitalized in the fire? Am I doing right by them?"
Upon hearing this, Aaron nonchalantly sneered, "Isn't it just about some crippled people? Is there a need to make such a big fuss about it? In business, you need to be assertive and domineering. Is it not too lowly to be subservient to those small cooperating partners? As for the injured employees, it's not like we intentionally set the fire. It's enough that we cover their medical expenses. Is there anything else to be sorry about?"
Seeing Aaron's unrepentant appearance, a suppressed anger inside Sarah finally erupted. She took two steps forward and slapped him across the face!
"Aaron! I am truly disappointed in you! From today onwards, you are no longer the General Manager of SR Group! You are dismissed!"
Aaron covered his reddened cheek, looking incredulous.
This was the first time in over twenty years that Sarah had struck him!
He turned to Karen, feeling wronged, and said, "Mom! Look at this! Sister slapped me, and now I can't be the General Manager!"
Witnessing this, Karen clenched her fists, rolled up her sleeves, and gave Sarah a slap in return!
"You useless person! I can't even bear to lift a finger against Aaron, and yet you dare to slap him! If you dare to dismiss Aaron as the General Manager, I'll make it so that even you can't carry on as the company president. Do you believe me or not?"
