Chapter 551 Change the Ownership of the Restaurant
"Stop it! Let's just order first!" Ryder slid further into the booth, his face turning a little red.
"Ha! Ryder, you're still the same—can't take a joke to save your life!" Lily leaned back in her seat, ribbing him. "So, big shot like you, don't you have women throwing themselves at you?"
"Nope!" Ryder wasn't about to keep this going, so he stood up and flagged down the waiter to order.
The waiter came over, looked Ryder and Lily up and down, and kindly reminded them, "Sir, our cheapest discounted pork chop here is $888. If you find it too expensive, I recommend the BBQ place across the street!"
After all, this high-end restaurant had three-star chefs, and a regular meal for two would cost tens of thousands of dollars.
Not something these two poorly dressed people could afford!
Even though the guy was quite handsome and the girl was pretty.
This made Lily angry. "What do you mean by that? Are you looking down on us?"
Lily then took out the black card that the bank had forced on her earlier. "I'm treating today, and I want the most expensive thing you have!"
The waiter's eyes lit up at the sight of the black card.
A black card?
That's a card for the upper class!
Worth at least tens of millions of dollars!
But with mobile payments blowing up these past five years, it's not every day you see someone whip out a black card.
Thinking he'd stepped on this rich lady's toes, the waiter turned on the charm. "My apologies, I totally misjudged you! Miss, just give me a sec—I'll have our head chef whip up the finest steak! You're gonna love it!"
He turned to bolt but doubled back. "Miss, how'd you like your steak cooked?"
Lily thought for a moment and said, "Medium-well for both."
"Any wine preferences? Our top shelf's got Château—wanna go for it?"
Lily slammed the table. "Hell yes! Bring it on!"
"Got it. I'll get that sorted right away."
Once the waiter was gone, Lily stuffed the card back into her bag, fuming.
A minute later, she was even more pissed.
Ryder asked suspiciously, "What's wrong? The waiter already apologized, why are you still upset?"
Lily lowered her voice and said, "Do you think the top chef's steak and the wine will be very expensive?"
Ryder smiled faintly, "It's okay, you're treating, I'll pay!"
Lily stuck out her tongue. "What if your wife Sarah finds out what you just said?"
Before she could finish, Ryder interrupted, "Alright, you're treating!"
Soon, the steak and wine were served.
The steak was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the wine was rich and full-bodied.
You get what you pay for.
It was really delicious!
Lily was eating happily, her face beaming.
Then, outta nowhere, a voice piped up: "Hot damn! You're a knockout! Haven't seen you around here before. Where you from, gorgeous?"
Several figures appeared.
The young man in the lead was dressed in Gucci, wearing custom-made Balenciaga shoes, and had the latest Omega Speedmaster on his wrist.
Just his outfit alone was worth a lifetime of work for an average white-collar worker.
His name was Jared Dixon, the owner of the restaurant.
With the support of his uncle Trevor, the restaurant had opened hundreds of chain stores in various districts.
And Jared, enjoying the fruits of his uncle's labor, was a notorious playboy in town.
He never turned down a pretty virgin!
Today, he had brought a young model to dine, and the waiter told him there was a beautiful woman with a black card.
Seeing her, he was indeed impressed!
A sexy figure with curves in all the right places.
Such a natural beauty was rare among ten thousand women!
Lily looked at him with a hint of disgust and said impatiently, "Who are you? Don't disturb our meal!"
"Miss, you might not know, but that black card in your hand was issued by my uncle's bank! And I am the owner of this restaurant!" Jared said proudly.
"Your uncle?" Lily frowned.
Jared's other subordinates chimed in:
"That's right, Jared's uncle is the president of the New York City Commercial Investment Bank, Trevor!"
"Let's just say, Jared's family practically runs the city's money game!"
"Even the big shots kiss the ring and show Jared mad respect!"
Ryder, listening on the side, nodded, "That's really impressive!"
A subordinate questioned, "What do you mean by that?"
Ryder shrugged, cool as ever. "Just saying, impressive!"
Lily stifled a laugh, then looked seriously at Jared and his group. "Are you done? If so, please leave! I want to continue eating with my husband!"
Hearing this, Ryder glanced at Lily but said nothing.
He thought that knowing Lily was married, they would give up hitting on her!
"What? You're telling me this dude with the busted scooter is your husband?"
Lily shot back, "Yeah, and? Got a problem with that?"
"Big problem! You're wasting my damn time! And you, Mr. Trash Scooter, got the nerve to disrespect me?"
Jared flew into a rage, cursing!
He even spat on Ryder and Lily's table!
Ryder and Lily's faces darkened.
Jared continued, "Get some people, strip these two and throw them on the street for everyone to see!"
He thought she was a pure lady, but she was already married!
Such a rotten woman was nothing but a bitch!
As for the black card?
It was from his family—no big deal!
Lily slammed the table in anger, glaring at Jared. "You have any idea who you're messing with? Trust me, we'll blow this straight to your uncle and shut this place down!"
Truth is, after finding out this guy was Trevor's nephew, Lily wasn't fazed one bit.
She'd seen Mr. Dixon kissing Ryder's boots before.
She was pissed because all she wanted was a nice dinner with Ryder, and now this whole mess blew up!
So damn annoying!
Ryder gave Lily a thumbs up. "Let's do it! Or even better, let's change the ownership of this restaurant within ten minutes?"
Strip them?
Insulting him was one thing, but bullying his friend Lily was too much!
Seeing Ryder's confident demeanor, Lily nodded. "Yes! Within ten minutes, we'll change the ownership of this restaurant!"
Ryder took out his phone and dialed a number. "Mr. Dixon, your nephew's restaurant is nice, give it to me as a gift."
Jared couldn't stop laughing.
Change the ownership of the restaurant?
Yeah, right!
"Hahaha, you two morons are cracking me up! Calling my uncle and asking him to hand over this place? Why not just say you can sprout wings and fly while you're at it!"
Everyone in New York knew Trevor was a penny-pincher!
Give away a restaurant raking in over a hundred mil a month? Get real!
Jared and his crew were rolling with laughter To them, Ryder was just a total joke.
Everyone else in the restaurant, including the customers, looked at Ryder and Lily as if they were idiots.
Here, the daily diners were all upper-class people.
No one dared to say such things!
Even Lily was skeptical.
Sure, she knew Ryder had money—enough to maybe buy the place outright.
But asking Trevor to just hand over a high-end chain restaurant as a gift?
Unless Trevor had lost his marbles, there was no way he'd agree to something that insane!
