Chapter 256 Drink a Bottle
As soon as they heard the command, the security guards behind Andrew rushed over.
As there were more than twenty of them, they easily outnumbered Roy.
Seeing this, Roy, along with Elbert, Alvin, Alan, and the others, all looked grim.
Roy shouted, with a sullen face, "Andrew, are you serious?"
"Do you think this is a joke? I've been serious from the start! If you know what's good for you, you'd get out now before you're thrown out in disgrace. Don't say I didn't warn you!" Andrew said impatiently.
'Damn it!' Roy thought, gritting his teeth in anger.
Originally, the plan had been for Sandra to handle Ryder, and if she had failed to do that, Roy would personally step in to put pressure on him.
It was a simple task, but it had now turned into this mess.
If this had happened anywhere else, Roy would have had no problem asserting his dominance. However, the consequences of acting rashly on Andrew's turf were too much to bear.
After considering his options, Roy nodded. "Fine! Andrew, you win this time!"
Roy then waved to his bodyguards and the others. "Let's go!"
The Johnson family, who had previously been excited about what was going on, were now disappointed by this turn of events.
Hadn't the plan for the day been to humiliate Ryder? Weren't they supposed to see Sarah suffer a crushing defeat?
Still, no matter how much dissatisfaction and confusion they felt, they could only suppress it and not express it.
After all, the confrontation between two bigwigs like Andrew and Roy was not something small fry like themselves should get involved in!
So, one by one, they stood up and followed Roy out of the private room.
Just as Roy was about to step out of the room, Ryder's voice suddenly rang out. "Mr. Brooks, please wait!"
Roy turned his head, frowning. "What do you want, Ryder?"
Ryder smiled. "Nothing much. I just wanted to remind you of what you had said earlier. You said that if someone saved me from you today, you would drink a whole bottle of red wine. Does that still stand?"
Roy looked surprised. He hadn't expected Ryder to bring that up!
Still smiling, Ryder added, "Of course, if it was just an empty promise, it doesn't matter. After all, you just can't help saying things sometimes!"
Roy clenched his fists. "Ryder, watch what you're saying!" he said, with a hint of a threat in his voice.
Ryder said, "I'm just telling the truth! I already said if that if it was just an empty promise, you could just go. There's nothing for you to be ashamed about!"
At that moment, Sandra stepped forward, glaring at Ryder. "Ryder, let me give you a piece of advice: don't push things too far. It's better to stay quiet and leave yourself a way out!"
The other members of the Johnson family also chimed in.
"Ryder, stop it, or you'll be the cause of your own downfall!"
"Mr. Brooks was just joking earlier, can't you tell? Don't you have a sense of humor? How dull!"
"Mr. Brooks, let's just go. There's no point in getting all up in arms over someone like him!"
The words of the crowd did nothing to change Ryder's stance. He still stood there, looking at Roy with a slightly contemptuous expression!
That attitude was exactly what bothered Roy the most!
In fact, he could have shamelessly denied saying what Ryder claimed he said and walked away, but he had a reputation to uphold. He couldn't let someone like Ryder get away with it!
"Fine! I'll keep my word," Roy said. "What makes a deadbeat son-in-law like you think you can get the upper hand on me? It's just a bottle of wine. I'll drink it!"
Roy resolutely walked up to the table and popped open a bottle of red wine. It held about a quart of liquid and was 104-proof!
Roy could actually hold his liquor pretty well; he could usually drink 17 ounces of it at social gatherings.
But that was because he took his time with it, drinking sip by sip. He never drank a large amount all at once!
Without hesitation, Roy gritted his teeth and started chugging directly from the bottle.
Everyone present watched Roy. Some seemed surprised, while others looked on with curiosity or pity. There were also a few who looked relieved that it wasn't them being forced to drink the wine.
Roy finished the entire bottle of red wine in ten seconds.
The result was disastrous. As soon as all the wine hit his stomach, he started dry heaving while gripping onto the table.
He threw up everything he had just drunk.
The entire private room was filled with a foul smell!
It was very embarrassing!
After retching for a while, Roy finally lifted his head. His face was flushed and covered in snot and tears. He wiped it off haphazardly with his sleeve.
Roy glared at Ryder and said, "Ryder, I'll remember this. Just you wait! This isn't over!"
Ryder responded casually, "I'm honored that you'd want to remember me, Mr. Brooks. Next time, I'll treat you to two bottles of red wine!"
"Fuck you!" Roy yelled, enraged. He wanted to punch Ryder but his legs gave out, and he fell into the mess he had just vomited.
Roy was now covered in filth and looked utterly disgusting! Everyone present turned their heads and covered their noses.
Even the Johnson family members instinctively took two steps back, afraid of getting any of Roy's vomit on themselves!
Roy was so embarrassed he wished he could crawl into a hole.
He was a dignified CEO of a company worth billions and had just been humiliated in front of so many people.
Roy quickly shouted to his men, "Are you blind? Hurry up and help me up!"
The bodyguards reluctantly obeyed, stepping forward to help Roy up!
Roy knew that staying any longer would only make things worse, so he didn't bother issuing more threats to Ryder. He lowered his head and made to leave the private room in disgrace.
Just as Roy reached the door, Ryder spread his arms and called out to him. "Mr. Brooks, remember to take a shower when you get home!"
Roy could have killed him. If someone had gone up and slapped Ryder right then, Roy would have given them 1.5 million dollars!
No! Even fifteen million dollars wouldn't be a problem!
Cursing inwardly at Ryder, Roy ultimately kept silent and quickly left with the help of his bodyguards. The Johnson family members followed closely behind, somewhat unwillingly.
As Sandra was leaving, she cast a sly glance at Ryder and said, "Ryder, it seems I underestimated you. Still, let me warn you: don't think you've won just because you came out on top tonight!"
She added, "To be honest, tonight is just the beginning. The real show is about to start!"
With that, Sandra confidently sashayed away.
