Chapter 307 Kneel Down!
It was around 6 p.m.
At a restaurant on the pedestrian street, Ryder was having dinner with Lily, Charlotte, and Rex. They were celebrating Lily's store opening and Ryder's first day at work. Rex had come to pick up Ryder and joined them.
Lily handed Ryder a piece of beef and said, "You worked hard today! Thanks to your flyer distribution, our store made three thousand dollars! If we keep this up, we'll recoup our investment in just over six months!"
Ryder gave her a thumbs-up. "You'll be rolling in cash soon!"
Lily winked at him. "Sounds like you plan to hit me up for money when I'm rich?"
Ryder stayed quiet, and Charlotte was speechless. Rex just said, "Delicious!"
Lily realized her joke was off and stuck out her tongue awkwardly. There were two other people at the table, and even if she opened a hundred stores, she couldn't support Ryder.
Charlotte changed the subject. "I'm worried about what the pet store owner across the street said. Do you think he might retaliate against Lily? I've heard he has a lot of influence around here."
Lily sighed. "Why does he have to be so extreme? We're all just trying to make a living."
She looked at Ryder. "You're the big boss. Any idea why?"
Ryder shrugged. "Wrong person to ask. But don't worry about Michael. You have George's contact, right? Call him if anything happens."
Lily nodded. With George around, Michael wouldn't be a problem.
Just then, a group of young men and women walked in, laughing. Six people, three men and three women. Leading them was a guy with an earring, playing with a knife and looking arrogant. Beside him was Harper, a high school classmate of Ryder's, dressed provocatively.
Ryder remembered a conflict with Harper at a class reunion at Polka Bar. She had disappeared for a while after that. Now, here she was, clinging to the guy's arm.
Harper hadn't noticed Ryder and the others. She whined to the guy, "Daniel, when are you getting me that bag you promised? All the other women have beautiful bags, but I don't. I'm too embarrassed to go out."
Daniel slapped her waist and grinned. "After dinner, I'll get you one. But you have to sleep with me tonight."
Harper's face lit up, and she kissed him on the cheek. "Daniel, you're so handsome. I love you! You can do whatever you want to me tonight."
As they were talking, the waiter approached and greeted them politely, "Welcome. What would you like to eat?"
Daniel waved grandly. "Get us your best private room!"
The waiter looked apologetic. "I'm sorry, sir. All the private rooms are booked. We only have a six-person table left. How about..."
Before he could finish, a red-haired guy behind Daniel stepped up and snapped, "Are you blind? Don't you know who Daniel Miller is?"
The waiter's face went pale, and he stammered, "I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was Mr. Miller. But we really don't have any private rooms. Could you wait a bit?"
The thug sneered, "Wait? Daniel doesn't wait! If you don't get us a private room now, I'll wreck this place!"
The waiter trembled, clearly out of his depth.
Daniel coughed lightly. "Christopher, remember what I always say? Be low-key and humble. It's just a meal; we can sit anywhere. No need to make a scene."
Christopher nodded quickly. "Yes, Daniel. You're right!"
Harper chimed in, "That's why I like you, Daniel. You're such a gentleman!"
Daniel smirked. "Of course! You need principles to get by in this world."
The waiter sighed in relief and seated Daniel's group at the table next to Ryder's.
As soon as they sat down, Harper whined, "Daniel, my feet are killing me. I'm so tired!"
Daniel's eyes gleamed. "Come here. Let me give you a massage!"
"Okay!" Harper took off her shoes and placed her feet, clad in black stockings, in Daniel's lap. He started massaging her feet, occasionally tickling her, making her giggle suggestively.
It sounded a bit odd!
Daniel's two buddies were also openly flirting with their dates, smoking and telling dirty jokes loudly. There was a burst of laughter!
They seemed to be showing off, disturbing the other diners, but no one dared to speak up. Daniel was a known thug in the area, rumored to be a trusted enforcer for Radiant Revive Spa and the Davis family, favored by Mark.
After they ordered, about five or six minutes later, a man hurriedly ran into the restaurant. He wore black sunglasses and looked like in his fifties.
Ryder was surprised. It was his high school teacher, Mr. Blair!
Mr. Blair was sweating profusely. When he saw Harper and the others, he quickly walked over, looking anxious and fearful. "Harper, can you give me that thing back? I'll apologize, okay?"
Harper, having her foot massaged by Daniel, lazily stretched and sneered, "Kneel down!"
