Chapter 414 Crazy Fan

As soon as those words left his mouth, everyone around perked up. Sarah and Barbara whipped their heads around too.

They spotted Ryder and Rex strolling over from a distance.

Ryder was munching on an ice cream cone.

He'd just remembered Ava loved ice cream, so he figured he'd grab one for her ahead of time. A little brotherly love, ya know?

But man, in that short time, all hell had broken loose!

When the fans saw Ryder, they gave him the once-over and weren't impressed by his looks or clothes.

They got all riled up.

"What's a broke dude like you got to do with this?"

"Their sunglasses and hats fell off on their own, why should we care? Just look at you, you don't seem like a good guy, you must be here to mess with Ken!"

"Oh my God, people are so mean to Ken!"

Ryder didn't even flinch, just kept walking straight to Sarah and the gang.

The fans wanted to block Ryder, but seeing Rex, who was built like a tank, they chickened out.

Ryder stopped in front of Ken and his manager.

He said calmly, "I want you to apologize to them."

Everyone looked at Ryder like he had three heads.

'What? This dude wants Ken and his manager to apologize? Is he nuts? Who does he think he is?'

Ken and his manager were stunned for a sec.

Then they exchanged looks and snickered.

It was that snobby laugh rich folks give when they think they're better than you.

The manager flashed her fancy watch.

She checked the time and said, dripping with sarcasm, "Sir, I get it, you wanna drag Ken's name through the mud and get some attention! But sorry, we're on a tight schedule. We don't have time for your nonsense, so why don't you take your lovely wife and sister-in-law and go peddle your wares elsewhere?"

Ryder raised an eyebrow. "Oh? So you think we're setting you up?"

The manager shot back, "Isn't that obvious?"

She then eyed Sarah and Barbara and said, "You two are pretty cute. Wanna join my talent agency? You'll make more money and have more status than hanging with this nobody!"

Ken struck a pose he thought was super cool and said to Sarah and Barbara, "As fellow artists, I'll totally look out for you."

The fans went wild.

"Wow! Ken, you're so hot!"

"I'm so jealous. How did these two get so lucky to be in the same company as Ken?"

"Ken, you're so sweet. Even though they tried to frame you, you don't hold a grudge!"

Barbara's eyes showed a flicker of annoyance.

Barbara shot back, "No thanks. I'm not interested in joining a company where the manager, the artist, and the fans all lack basic decency!"

Sarah chimed in, "Yeah, count me out too!"

Their responses were like a slap in the face to the fans, who thought being in the same company as Ken was the ultimate dream. The idea that someone would turn it down and call them indecent? Unthinkable.

The fans were about to lose it.

Ryder stepped in, still smiling. "So, you've heard their answers. How about that apology now?"

The manager's face twisted. "Are you kidding me? You small-town folks from Houston think you deserve an apology from us?"

Ryder's smile faded. "If you did something wrong, you should apologize. It's not about deserving."

The manager scoffed, looking down her nose. "Of course it is! No one can make Ken apologize! We've already wasted enough time on you nobodies. Get lost, or you'll face Ken's fans' wrath!"

Ken's fans puffed up, looking all tough and ready to pounce.

Ryder glanced at them and said, "You all look like students. Shouldn't you be focusing on your studies instead of blowing your parents' money on following celebrities? Have you lost your basic values?"

The fans erupted.

"Who are you to tell us what to do? How I spend my parents' money is none of your business!"

"Yeah! I can do whatever I want for Ken!"

"School's pointless! I wanna be like Ken, drop out, go to Korea, and become a star!"

They thought they were making solid points, but Ryder just shook his head with a bitter smile. "This country needs fans of scientists, doctors, firefighters—people who actually help others. I respect real artists, but empty shells in the performing arts? Not so much."

The fans rolled their eyes, full of disdain.

"You're just jealous of Ken's money, pretending to be all high and mighty!"

"We've seen your type online, just ignore him!"

"No matter what he says, he'll never be as good as Ken!"

Ken, seeing his fans backing him up, felt a surge of pride. With these loyal followers, he could do whatever he wanted. Right or wrong, they'd always defend him.

Feeling cocky, he stepped forward and invited Barbara and Sarah. "Ladies, I'm heading to a commercial gig later. Wanna come? With my connections, I could really help you out here in Houston. What do you say?"
