Chapter 466 Second Inheritance!
The 20th-floor office of Maple Real Estate!
The next day, Scott, who had just returned from out of town, visited Ryder in the morning.
Ryder poured Scott a cup of tea and smiled, "After a long journey, you must be tired, right? Come on, try it. It'll help you feel better."
"Thank you!" Scott took the tea with a smile. "It's all part of my duty! It's been a while, and you look even more spirited! Dealing with Mark, driving away Tyler, crushing the Johnson family, you're truly impressive!"
Ryder waved his hand, signaling Scott to stop praising him. "Scott, there's something I've been meaning to ask you."
"Please go ahead!" Scott said.
Ryder took out two black Gloomy Wooden Boxes and placed them on the coffee table, asking, "Scott, do you know what are these?"
Upon seeing the Gloomy Wooden Boxes, Scott's eyes narrowed. "Where did you get these?"
Ryder didn't hide anything and briefly explained the origin of the two Gloomy Wooden Boxes.
Hearing this, Scott nodded, took a deep breath, and murmured softly, "This is truly the destiny!"
Ryder asked, "Do you really know what these things are for?"
Scott looked at the Gloomy Wooden Boxes and said softly, "I got to know it a little bit. I know they have a long history and are said to be related to a treasure. Once you obtain the treasure, whether it's an individual or a family, there will be significant changes!"
He looked at Ryder and continued, "Therefore, even the top legendary families in the capital city are actively tracking the whereabouts of the Gloomy Wooden Boxes. In their eyes, the value of these things is simply immeasurable! It's said that even those top families may not have a single Gloomy Wooden Box, and you have two in your hands. That's incredibly lucky!"
Hearing this, Ryder was a bit shocked and asked, "Related to a treasure? What kind of treasure?"
Scott shook his head with a bitter smile. "I don't know either. I heard John mention it unintentionally back then! In any case, since even John valued this treasure highly, you must keep it safe and not reveal this secret, or I fear it could bring trouble!"
Ryder nodded.
He still felt that the connection between the Gloomy Wooden Boxes and the treasure sounded mysterious.
He didn't know what secrets were hidden within.
After putting away the Gloomy Wooden Boxes, Ryder wanted to ask Scott about the true cause of John's death.
But on second thought, knowing Scott's character, he wouldn't say anything until the time was right.
At this moment, Scott cleared his throat and said, "I came back this time specifically to tell you something!"
As he spoke, Scott took out a stack of documents and handed them to Ryder. "This is the equity inheritance agreement of Maple Group. Please sign here. As of today, you are the Chairman of Maple Group, owning one hundred percent of the company's shares."
Ryder was slightly taken aback, never expecting to become the Chairman of Maple Group after only a few months.
The Maple Group was much stronger than Maple Real Estate. It encompassed real estate, dining, entertainment, and other businesses, making it the top company in Houston and a highly influential giant in Texas!
And its current market value exceeded 10 billion dollars!
Its headquarters had already moved to New York City last year!
Scott explained seriously, "John's will stated that once you made a name for yourself in Houston, you would take the next step and fully control the Maple Group! I believe you can lead the Maple Group to even greater success!"
After saying this, Scott took out a black bank card. It had nothing else on it besides a string of numbers!
"This card is the second allowance John left for you, with 2 billion dollars! How you use it is up to you!"
"2 billion dollars!" Ryder couldn't help but widen his eyes!
He remembered that when he first inherited the estate, the allowance was 200 million dollars!
This time, it was a whopping 2 billion dollars!
If this news got out, it would surely shock everyone!
Ryder no longer wanted to delve into what other identities and powers John might have hidden!
He believed that when the time was right, everything would be revealed!
Ryder said, "So, once I inherit the Maple Group, I'll have to work in New York City, right?"
Scott nodded.
Ryder wasn't too surprised by this.
After all, he needed to grow to get closer to those high and mighty families.
Houston could no longer satisfy his development needs.
Going to New York City was inevitable.
Ryder said, "Alright, I'll handle the remaining matters in Houston and plan to head to New York City in about a week!"
"Okay, I'll be waiting for you in New York City then!" After Scott finished explaining everything, he took the signed inheritance agreement from Ryder and left.
Ryder put away the black bank card.
He stood by the window, looking down at the bustling streets below, lost in thought!
Just then, his phone rang.
He saw that it was Lily.
He hadn't been in touch with her for a while.
He answered the call.
Lily's anxious voice came from the other end. "Ryder, are you okay?"
Ryder was puzzled, asking, "What's the matter?"
Lily said, "I heard that you were arrested by the police for drug involvement. How are you now?"
Ryder smiled wryly. "That was days ago, I'm perfectly fine! Don't worry!"
Lily breathed a sigh of relief and pouted. "I wasn't in Houston for the past few days and just heard about it. It scared me to death!"
"Relax, I'm perfectly fine!" Ryder reassured her again and changed the subject. "Where did you go?"
Lily sighed, "I went home. I planned to bring my mom back to Houston, but I ran into a bunch of troublesome things! I'm so annoyed!"
Ryder asked, "What happened?"
Lily replied, "Of course, it's about marriage! I had no choice but to say I already have a boyfriend to stop them from introducing more!"
Ryder nodded. "That's a good idea!"
Lily said proudly, "Of course! By the way, Can you come over to my house later?"
Ryder was puzzled, asking, "Why?"
Lily chuckled, "I told them you're my boyfriend, and they insist on meeting you, so you'll have to come over and play the role!"
Ryder was speechless.
