Chapter 47 Destroying You Only Took a Few Minutes!
Upon hearing this, Joseph and Tony exchanged glances and burst out laughing. "Hahaha! Did you hear what he just said? He thinks he can destroy the Smith family!"
Tony was also laughing uncontrollably. "I must say, today I am truly amazed. I know young people nowadays can be a bit arrogant, but I've never seen someone as brainless as him!"
After a round of laughter, Boss T shook his head at Ryder and said, "I don't care if you're the Johnson family's son-in-law or whatever. Let me give you a piece of advice, young man, don't be too arrogant!"
Ryder looked indifferent. "If I'm not arrogant, can I still be considered a young man?"
Boss T was taken aback by the sharp retort, and the muscles on his face twitched involuntarily. "I'm curious to see just how arrogant you really are to cause the downfall of the Smith family."
After speaking, Tony turned to George and said, "Over the years, you've suddenly risen in Houston. If you continue on this trajectory, I may no longer be your rival in Houston after five years."
"Honestly, I acknowledge your courage and abilities! But I have to say, even though I'm not sure how Ryder managed to sway you, tonight, you've made the biggest mistake of your life."
"After tonight, the landscape of Houston will be completely reshuffled, and everything you've worked hard for these years will be taken over by me! Hahaha!"
To this, George just tugged at the corner of his mouth, seemingly unbothered.
Sam, who was hanging on the wall, choked with a sob as he spoke, "Dad! Uncle Tony! Stop wasting time with them! I can't take it anymore..."
"Don't worry, son! I'll save you right now!"
Joseph nodded.
Just as he was about to give the order to take action and save Sam by force, a woman wearing glasses and dressed provocatively rushed into the private room. She had an anxious look on her face and immediately shouted when she saw Joseph, "Something big has happened!"
This woman was Joseph's personal secretary. Of course, she was more like a mistress!
Joseph was a bit surprised. Why would she come here out of the blue?
Furrowing his eyebrows, he asked, "Why are you so anxious? What happened?"
The sexy secretary, with a mournful face, said, "Chairman, the bank president of Houston just called and said that the two billion dollar commercial loan that was approved for us last month has been frozen!"
"What?" Joseph's expression froze. He was utterly horrified.
Although the Smith Group in Houston was a multi-billion dollar company, they needed a large amount of working capital to operate, and therefore, they had to rely on regular commercial loans.
Acquiring this two billion dollar loan took countless efforts and connections on his part.
Once successful, he had the confidence to use this fund to secure more shares in the construction materials market. With that, the entire Smith Group would have experienced a significant improvement!
But now it was unexpectedly frozen without any warning.
The secretary continued, "Not only that, the bank president also discovered a large amount of fraud in our previous commercial loan bills, and they are now preparing to sue us through legal channels!"
Sweat immediately formed on Joseph's forehead, unable to believe it as he said, "How... How is this possible? How did the bills go wrong? No, I need to make a phone call to confirm!"
But just as he took out his phone, another call came in.
The caller was Jack, the President of the Good Group.
Hastily answering the call, Joseph respectfully said, "Boss Jack, it's quite late. Is there something you need? Please instruct me!"
A cold snort came from the other side of the phone as Boss Jack said, "How dare I give any instructions to the Chairman!"
Joseph couldn't help but tremble at those words, sensing something very bad as he asked, "Boss Jack... What do you mean by that?"
Jack calmly said, "There's no meaning to it. I just wanted to inform you that, starting today, the Good Group will no longer have any business dealings with the Smith Group, and I have also informed other steel companies in Texas to avoid any collaborations with you!"
After speaking, he hung up the phone directly, not giving Joseph a chance to ask any further questions.
Joseph felt his head spinning and nearly stumbled and fell to the ground.
The main business of the Smith Group was in the construction materials industry, and steel was an essential raw material for them.
If the upstream raw materials were cut off, then what kind of construction materials could they sell!
Tony, who was standing by, also looked utterly confused at this moment. He furrowed his brows and asked, "Joseph, what on earth happened? Weren’t Houston Bank and the Good Group cooperating well with you?"
Joseph's face turned pale, and his lips trembled as he spoke, "I... I have no idea. This can't be happening!"
The Smith Group, which he had spent decades building, had been devastated in less than two minutes. It was hard to believe even if he said it out loud!
At this moment, Ryder added fuel to the fire, saying, "Don't rush to conclusions and go crazy just yet. The matter isn't over!"
Joseph's gaze became dull as he asked, "What do you mean?"
Before he could finish speaking, his phone rang again.
He glanced at the caller ID. It was Sophia, the Vice President of Maple Real Estate! Joseph swallowed nervously.
For some reason, a very bad premonition began to swirl in his mind. It wouldn't go away!
With a steeled determination, Joseph reluctantly answered the call.
Before he could even start pleading, Sophia on the other end of the line began, "I have two things to inform you!"
"First, we are canceling the Smith Group's participation in our bidding process. Second, it has been discovered that some of the materials the Smith Group delivered to us last year have quality issues, and we will seek legal action to demand compensation!"
Joseph's heart clenched, and he hurriedly explained, "Miss Anderson, please let me explain. Is there a misunderstanding here? I..."
But Sophia had already hung up the phone.
Joseph sank to the ground, his eyes vacant, muttering, "It's all over! What on earth is going on? Can someone please tell me what happened?"
Tony, who had been standing nearby with an arrogant expression, also became nervous.
He wasn't a fool. He was someone who had been in Houston for many years.
In just a few minutes, Joseph, who steered the ship at the Smith Group, fell from heaven to hell.
This couldn't possibly be a coincidence!
His gaze couldn't help but shift slowly to Ryder.
When Tony saw the harmless smile on Ryder's face, he suddenly felt a chilling fear creeping up his spine.
This young man, he had misjudged him!
Just as he was pondering how to speak up and distance himself, Ryder started speaking to Joseph. "Chairman, was this program stimulating for you? You didn’t expect it, did you?"
"I..." Joseph trembled, unable to form a complete sentence.
Ryder chuckled even more "mildly" and said, "This program is just the opening act. There is more excitement to come. You better hold on!"
