Chapter 472 Debt!
The door suddenly flew open with a loud bang, making everyone in the private room jump!
They turned to see a big, bald guy standing there, rocking a black tank top, with a massive, over-the-top black dragon tattoo on his right shoulder!
Behind him, there were about a dozen young dudes with all sorts of crazy hair colors, and they reeked of booze.
They were clearly here for trouble!
Everyone in the room was totally thrown off by these unexpected people!
Louis frowned, thinking he just brought everyone here to have a good time, and now trouble was already knocking before they even got started!
He was definitely not happy about it!
He got up from the sofa, took a step forward, and yelled, "What's your deal? Why'd you kick in my door?"
The bald guy, Jacob Green, gave Louis a bored look, glanced around the room, and said coolly, "I'm here to find someone! It's got nothing to do with you! Just hand them over!"
"Find someone?" Louis was a bit confused.
He looked at the group again; it was clear they weren't here to make friends!
He turned his head and his eyes landed on Ryder, thinking, 'Are they here for Ryder?'
Ryder was always getting into some kind of mess! If he could embarrass Ryder in front of everyone and make him look bad, it would definitely boost his own standing!
And it would make Ryder look terrible in front of Lily!
That would be perfect!
So Louis cleared his throat and said to Jacob, "So you're here for someone, right?"
Then he pointed at Ryder, "He's right there! Whatever you need, talk to him!"
Louis's words made Betty and the other relatives' faces darken a bit!
Then they all turned to Ryder, scolding him, "From the moment I saw you, I knew you were trouble! Always causing problems!"
"I really don't get why Lily likes you! We hardly ever come to the bar, and you ruin it!"
"What are you waiting for? Go talk to them outside and don't drag us into this!"
One by one, they all started throwing harsh words at Ryder!
Ryder just sat on the sofa, holding his forehead slightly.
He looked at Jacob and his crew.
He couldn't remember ever crossing paths with them!
At that moment, Jacob impatiently shouted at Louis, "Shut up! I'm not here for him! It's those two!"
He pointed at Deborah and Mario, who were sitting on the innermost sofa in the private room!
Seeing Jacob pointing at them, Deborah and Mario stood up nervously, their faces full of embarrassment, fear, and surprise!
They greeted him softly and respectfully, "Good evening, Jacob!"
This scene shocked everyone in the room!
Jacob was looking for them, and they seemed to know each other!
Jacob squinted and sneered, "I've been looking for you two for a long time! I checked the seafood market and your home, but couldn't find you! If my guys hadn't seen your Facebook post about being here, who knows how long it would've taken to track you down!"
Deborah and Mario forced a nervous smile, sweat dripping down their faces.
They were terrified!
Betty couldn't hold back any longer and asked, "What's going on? Why are they after you?"
Deborah and Mario opened their mouths but couldn't find the words to explain.
Jacob shoved Louis aside, strutted into the room, grabbed a piece of watermelon from the fruit plate, took a bite, and sneered, "They borrowed money from us half a year ago, five times in total, racking up over six hundred thousand dollars. It's been half a year, and they still haven't paid it back!"
"Six hundred thousand dollars!" Betty gasped.
Six hundred thousand dollars was more than she could ever dream of earning in her lifetime!
She trembled and turned to Deborah and Mario, "Is what he said true? Do you really owe him six hundred thousand dollars?"
Mario shrank back and nodded fearfully. "Mom, it's not entirely our fault. Half a year ago, we wanted to expand the supermarket but couldn't raise the money, so we borrowed some from Jacob. We thought we could pay it back quickly, but then the seafood market had a major incident, and all the money was lost."
Betty was in shock, her mind going blank.
One moment they were a happy family, and the next, they were facing a huge problem!
Philip and Susan were equally confused!
No wonder Deborah and Mario had suddenly come home, claiming to visit Betty. They were actually hiding from debt collectors!
Jacob finished his watermelon, tossed the rind on the ground, and his voice turned icy. "Debts must be paid! No matter how, you must hand over the money in one hour!"
With that, Jacob pulled out an eight-inch knife from his waist and slammed it on the table!
The sight of the shiny knife made Betty's legs go weak, and she nearly fell off the sofa!
Tears streamed down her face as she wailed, "Six hundred thousand dollars, how can we possibly pay it back!"
Jacob shook a finger and sneered, "Not six hundred thousand dollars! It's one million dollars! There's interest to consider!"
Betty was stunned!
Jacob's men moved quickly!
They stormed into the room, grabbed Deborah and Mario, and pinned them to the ground.
They pulled out knives and pressed them against their heads, demanding they pay the money, or else!
Deborah was so scared she started crying on the spot. "Don't kill me! We'll pay the money."
Jacob pulled up a chair, sat in front of them, and asked, "How will you pay?"
Deborah, trembling, pointed at Louis, "He's my niece's boyfriend. He's wealthy and can settle the debt!"
All eyes turned to Louis, who was completely dumbfounded.
