Chapter 573 You're doing alright!
On the way back from the airport.
In the car.
Rex was focused on driving, while Ryder sat in the passenger seat.
Barbara was in the back seat, vividly recounting her recent travel experiences: climbing mountains, scuba diving, visiting famous landmarks and encountering natural scenery.
Ryder felt that he should take Sarah to explore the beautiful landscapes of their country when they had the time.
But Ryder felt a vague unease about the last thing Tyler had said to Barbara.
The last haunting incident didn't scare Tyler silly; instead, he became more tolerant.
He was becoming harder to deal with.
So, after Barbara finished talking, Ryder asked, "Is there something going on between you and Tyler?"
"No way! Nothing at all!"
It was obvious that Barbara didn't want to say what exactly was going on.
Ryder kindly reminded her, "But people like Tyler, and the entire Young family, it's best not to get involved with them!"
Barbara blinked her innocent big eyes. "Ryder, are you worried about me? Aren't you afraid Sarah will get jealous?"
"I'm afraid if something really happens to you, Sarah will be heartbroken."
"I knew you'd say that! But Ryder, Tyler is such a proud person, how did you get him to apologize to you? Do you have some mysterious identity in New York City that we don't know about?" Barbara pouted and asked curiously.
Ryder smiled and shook his head.
He truly didn't know.
His father John was mysterious, but he was no longer alive.
And to find out the cause of his father's death and make the Jones family in the Capital City repent, he had to climb up step by step on his own.
The road ahead was long and arduous.
Thinking of this, Ryder sighed.
Barbara also sighed lightly, "From being a matrilocal son-in-law of the Johnson family to the president of Maple Real Estate and then to the chairman of Maple Group, it's already impressive! But Ryder, don't get too arrogant. Really, Tyler and his people are quite scary. Now he's yielding to you, who knows how he'll retaliate in the future."
Ryder couldn't help but laugh, "What, from the way you talk, it sounds like you're disappointed in me?"
"Ryder, you're doing alright!"
Some people are born at heights others can never reach in their lifetime. And Ryder was not one of those.
Barbara didn't say the rest, turning her head to look out the window.
Her eyes showed a trace of unresolvable sorrow.
"If you have any difficulties, you must tell us!" Ryder felt that Barbara was different this time.
Barbara shrugged. "What could be wrong with me? I'm so tired, I haven't had a good night's sleep in days. I'll take a nap first."
Ryder didn't say anything more.
He took out his phone and sent a text message to Sarah, saying he had picked up Barbara.
Half an hour later, the car drove into the neighborhood.
But on the small road leading to their villa, a BMW was completely blocking the way.
Rex honked three times, but the BMW didn't move.
Rex got out to check.
It turned out there was no one in the BMW.
He came back and told Ryder, "Ryder, this road only leads to our villa. Why would someone park their car here? I can't move forward!"
"Most likely, they're here to see us."
"IT is really strange. Even if they're here to see us, they shouldn't park like this!"
"Forget it, let's go see what's going on!" Ryder got out of the car.
He noticed Barbara in the back seat, her head resting on the cushion, sleeping soundly.
Ryder waved to Rex. "Why don't you carry her inside?"
"Huh?" Rex's face turned red. "Ryder, let's not. I'm not used to it."
"What's there to be not used to? Didn't you carry the Moore family's daughter yesterday? And this one is much lighter!"
"No, this is really different!"
Rex's face turned even redder.
The next second, he turned and ran, disappearing in the direction of the villa.
Thinking of Barbara saying she hadn't had a good night's sleep in days and now snoring lightly.
Ryder had no choice but to open the car door and carry her.
"Ryder, the smell of you is so comforting!"
Hearing this, Ryder felt his head buzz and his hands froze.
Looking at Barbara in his arms, her eyes were still closed, only her red lips moving.
She was talking in her sleep.
Barbara snuggled in Ryder's arms, adjusting her neck to find a comfortable position to continue sleeping.
Ryder's eyes showed a trace of helplessness, then he carried Barbara towards the villa.
Just as he reached the door, he heard a very familiar voice.
"Rex, you're getting stronger! Not bad! By the way, where's Ryder? Kyle and I have been here for a while."
Mother-in-law Karen?
This was even more surprising than Barbara talking in her sleep.
Yesterday, Kyle suffered a loss at Rigal Sports Complex, and today Karen came knocking. It couldn't be good!
Ryder carried Barbara to the door, just in time to meet Karen and Kyle's gaze.
Karen looked at Ryder, wanting to scold him.
How dare he find a mistress behind Sarah's back, who was wearing a spaghetti strap dress, and bring her to the villa in broad daylight! Really knows how to play!
No man is good, they all turn bad when they have money!
But Karen only dared to say these things in her heart.
On the surface, she walked up to Ryder, smiling, "Ryder, why are you back so late? Kyle and I have been waiting!
"I see you're carrying a woman, why don't you take her inside to play games, and Kyle and I will wait a bit longer, it's no big deal!"
"But it's a bit cold outside, we'll wait in the living room, how about that?"
"Yeah, Ryder, you go ahead, I understand as a man! Mom and I will wait in the living room." Kyle quickly agreed with his mom.
Ryder felt even more helpless.
So did Barbara in his arms.
Although she didn't show her face, she was blushing furiously.
What had she just heard?
Waking up, she found herself being carried by Ryder, and people were talking about "playing games"? Men understand?
Ryder saw Barbara was awake and let go.
Barbara got down.
When Karen and Kyle saw her face, they were both shocked. "Are you two..."
Karen didn't say the rest.
Last night, Kyle had a heart-to-heart with her.
Kyle could finally work at Summit Innovations Group, and his first task was to facilitate a project collaboration between Summit Innovations Group and Maple Group. To gain respect in the Moore family and live comfortably, he had to please Ryder.
So Karen couldn't treat Ryder the way she used to; she had to please him as well.
"I understand, young people, it's no big deal! But Ryder, since it's Barbara with you, I guess you don't mind a few minutes, let's talk about work first, okay?"
This misunderstanding was ridiculous.
But Ryder didn't bother to explain, coldly replying to Karen, "Sorry, I'm busy."
