Chapter 596 Imprisoning Me?
Ryder's face turned dark.
Just as Barbara's slap was about to land, he caught her wrist.
"Barbara, you better stop!"
With that, Ryder let go of her wrist.
Barbara stumbled and fell onto the soft sofa. "Ryder, how dare you hit me!"
"Sarah, come quick and see what kind of man you married. He even hits women."
She started to cry as she spoke.
Ryder rubbed his forehead, feeling pretty helpless. He waved to Rex. "Rex, you deal with her! I gotta go out."
"Huh? But I don't know how to comfort people! How about you handle her first, then I'll drive you out!"
Rex knew Ryder hated dealing with crying women and was definitely trying to pass the buck.
But Rex was clueless about comforting women too!
Ryder could guess what Rex was thinking.
So he showed Rex his WhatsApp message and explained, "Look, Uncle Ryan said he has something important to tell me, and we've set up a meeting. But if we leave Barbara alone, she'll definitely run off, so you gotta make sure she stays put, got it?"
"Alright then! I'll do it, Ryder!" Rex reluctantly agreed.
He added, "Then you should take the subway, Ryder. The station's close by! I'm worried your driving might wreck the car."
Rex even knew how to mock him!
Ryder couldn't help but give him a thumbs-up. "Whatever you say!"
"Exactly!" Rex pouted slightly in response.
After that, Ryder left.
Rex started his tough job of comforting.
"Here's a tissue, wipe your face!"
"Ladies should cry less, or they'll get ugly!"
"Want an orange? I can peel it for you."
But all of Rex's efforts were met with Barbara's cold stares and angry shouts.
"Get lost! I don't want it!"
"You're ugly! Your whole family is ugly!"
"You eat it yourself! You jerk!"
In short, he couldn't comfort Barbara!
Rex couldn't understand why Barbara, such a beautiful woman, didn't appreciate his efforts.
Memory loss shouldn't make her brain malfunction, right?
Some things were better explained clearly.
So Rex told Barbara everything he knew about her.
After listening, Barbara stopped crying and asked, "Is everything you said true?"
Rex nodded. "I never lie!"
Barbara asked again, "So you said the Johnson family has now moved to Aurora City?"
"Yes!"
Barbara's face lit up. "Then I want to go back to the Johnson family, back to my mom Sandra! You can't stop me from doing that, right?"
"No way! Your mom Sandra is not a good person. You'll be bullied if you go there! And Ryder said you can only stay here, nowhere else!"
"You! Your mom is the one who's not a good person!"
Barbara knew Sandra wasn't a good mother; otherwise, she wouldn't have let that perverted stepfather treat her like that. But hearing it from Rex still made her uncomfortable.
Rex nodded. "My mom died early, no impression!"
"You!" Barbara felt she couldn't reason with someone as dumb as Rex.
"I'm thirsty. I want some alcohol!"
"None."
"None?" Barbara glared at Rex. "Do you think I'm an idiot? There's a wine cabinet over there! I saw a lot of red wine! And you have to drink with me! Or I'll keep crying and annoy you to death!"If she got him drunk, she could slip away.
"There was wine before, but you drank it all. Uncle Ryan doesn't dare to leave good wine here anymore, just put some molds for decoration."
"What?" Barbara frowned and emphasized again, "I don't care, I want to drink wine right now! Give me your phone, I'll order delivery!"
Rex hesitated for a moment but still handed over his phone.
Meanwhile, on Ryder's side.
He took the subway to the club where he had arranged to meet Uncle Ryan.
Ryder waited at the entrance for about ten minutes.
Then he saw Ryan coming out, surprised to see his old face covered with faint lipstick marks. What a player.
"Uncle Ryan, why did you suddenly ask me to come here?"
Ryan raised an eyebrow. "What else do you do in a place like this? Sarah hasn't been with you for over a month. Don't you have any physical needs?"
"Uncle Ryan, stop teasing. If there's something important, just say it! The GoldenEagle app has just launched, and the competition with the Young family is intense. I need to keep an eye on it!"
"You really have no sense of fun! You should know John was much more playful when he was young!"
Ryan lowered his voice, his expression becoming more serious. "The owner of the Crimson Beauty Club, Samuel Powell, is also the behind-the-scenes boss of the Aurora City Trace Investigation Agency! He holds all kinds of secrets about the upper-class families in Aurora City! And after my investigation, he has evidence of the Young family forcing the Wallace family to their deaths!"
Ryan glared at Ryder. "Why do you look so calm? At least give me some reaction! I used my relationship with Clara to get in touch with Samuel and agreed to meet him!"
"Last time at the Rigal Sports Complex, Tyler already admitted the Young family's crimes against the Wallace family, and we took photos. Getting another video is redundant!" Ryder explained calmly.
"No, this video evidence is not simple! I don't know the specifics, but Ryder, I need to remind you, the Young family is more complicated than we thought! What we've done so far will only provoke their revenge! And the video also mentions John!"
"My dad?" Ryder showed a surprised expression.
Ryan made an OK gesture. "Finally, I see another expression on your serious face!"
Ryder smiled, "Then this trip was worth it."
Ryan looked around. "Where's Rex? Taking a dump?"
"No, he's at home watching Barbara."
Ryan thought for a moment and nodded. "Then let's go in. We've already set a time with the other party! I originally thought if there was a conflict, Rex could take the brunt!"
Ryder shrugged. "If Rex knew, he'd be hurt!"
Ryan didn't care. "Ryder, let me tell you, Rex may seem silly, but he knows exactly what he should and shouldn't do! You're lucky to have such a benefactor!"
Ryder nodded in agreement.
Ryder and Ryan walked into the Crimson Beauty Club.
They passed through a long corridor in the club.
Then they saw a large iron door, made of alloy, probably bulletproof.
The guards at the door had steady steps, restrained breaths, and an aura that made them hard to approach.
