Chapter 14 Charlotte, Be My Girlfriend!
Tim's expression changed. "What do you mean by that?" Chris casually replied, "These dishes look too ordinary. As the class president, you think it's appropriate to treat our classmates to such ordinary food?"
Tim stared, "How are these dishes ordinary?" Each dish on this table cost an average of three to four hundred dollars, and the total bill, including drinks, would be around seven to eight thousand dollars!
"These dishes on the table are only mid-range at The Pint House, far from top-notch. Are they still not ordinary? They pale in comparison to the gourmet meals I've had overseas!"
Tim's face turned red with anger and he snapped, "Since I'm treating you to this meal, if you want to have a gourmet meal, go and have it yourself!" Chris waved his hand dismissively, "No need for that trouble!"
He signaled to the private room waiter and said, "Clear all the dishes on the table. I've heard that your restaurant has top-notch foreign specialties, along with the finest drinks. I'll treat everyone to this meal."
This action was a direct slap in the face for Tim, happening right in front of everyone. Lily excitedly nudged Ryder with her elbow. "We're in for a good show! Dog eat dog! Looks pretty good."
Tim couldn't back down when faced with a crowd watching, so he gritted his teeth and asked Chris, "What exactly are you trying to imply?"
Chris innocently shrugged, "I don't imply anything. I just can't stand seeing my classmates eat junk. I wanted to treat everyone to something nice. If you mind, you can have the honor of treating them instead!"
Seeing Chris's confident expression, Tim's lips twitched a couple of times, and he reluctantly replied, "Fine, I'll treat then!"
He turned to the waiter and asked, "According to his standards, how much would this meal cost? I'll pay in advance!"
The waiter responded, "Sir, for the highest standard meal, it is estimated to be around five hundred thousand dollars."
Tim widened his eyes. "$500,000! Why don't you go and rob them?"
The waiter replied calmly, "The ingredients for our highest-quality dishes are all imported by air from abroad, and the drinks are from internationally renowned brands. We guarantee our reputation!"
"Then why isn't it written on the menu?"
"Because sir has booked a regular private room which only provides a regular menu. Only the VIP rooms offer a higher-grade menu."
Chris snorted, "Ignorant country bumpkin!"
Tim's face turned pale with anger, but spending $500,000 just for a meal was impossible for him.
He could only sit down, feeling displeased, and mumbled, "If you invite, then you invite. It's not a big deal!"
A hint of satisfaction appeared in Chris's eyes. He leaned back slightly and said to the waiter, "Then remove the dishes and serve according to what I said, with the highest standards!"
The waiter hurriedly complied.
Beside them, Harper's eyes shimmered with admiration. "Chris, you're amazing!"
Many of their classmates, who had previously praised Tim, now switched to praising Chris, finding it entertaining.
Their homeroom teacher, Teacher Blair, had some concerns. "Chris, isn't this a bit extravagant?"
Chris waved his hand indifferently. "No worries, I can get reimbursed by the company. Enjoy the meal to your heart's content, everyone!"
Hearing this, Tim's expression became even more bitter.
Lily rested her chin on her hand and whispered, "Rich people can do whatever they want! And, to be honest, Chris is really generous!"
Ryder shook his head. "I always feel like things aren't that simple."
Lily looked puzzled. "Why do you say that?"
Ryder replied with a meaningful tone, "Just a hunch..."
Sure enough, Chris stood up and looked around at everyone. "Actually, besides inviting you all for this meal, I have an important matter that I want you all to witness!"
Someone asked, "What are we witnessing?"
Chris answered, "I want to express my admiration for a certain girl here and ask her to be my girlfriend!"
As soon as these words were spoken, many people immediately reacted with gossip and began expressing their support.
Chris clapped his hands, and a waiter entered carrying 99 roses, handing them to him.
Upon seeing this, Harper reached out her hand proactively, pretending to be shy. "Chris, there's no need for all this..."
But Chris ignored her completely and went over to Charlotte, kneeling on one knee and presenting the flowers. "Charlotte, will you be my girlfriend?"
"Not a day went by abroad when I didn't think of you. After coming back to the country, I contacted you for the first time. In the two months we've spent together, you should know my feelings for you. I'm absolutely sincere, and I will protect you for a lifetime."
Charlotte was taken aback. "Chris, this is so sudden..."
During her schooling, she had rejected Chris many times with an air of arrogance.
But since stepping into the society, she gradually realized how difficult it was for a woman to make progress. She had once had sincere feelings for beauty.
Emotional expectations aren't as tangible as money. Although she wasn’t as resistant to Chris now, she still felt a bit overwhelmed by this sudden confession.
Chris spoke to the classmates, "Charlotte might be a bit nervous. Can you all help to cheer her up?"
Most of the onlookers applauded in support.
Harper, however, sat down angrily, grinding her teeth. It was embarrassing! The hatred towards Charlotte grew even stronger in her heart.
Tim frowned. He was the one who invited Charlotte to dinner. So why did it turn into someone else's proposal?
Just as Charlotte was about to reluctantly accept the offer, Ryder stood up, looking serious.
"Charlotte, I hope you'll carefully consider it and not give your answer too easily."
This statement caught everyone's attention.
They all looked at Ryder as if he was mentally challenged. They were a perfect match, so why did this monster think he had the right to oppose?
Chris looked at Ryder with a displeased gaze, asking, "What do you want, Ryder?"
Ryder ignored the question, continuing to stare at the snow-white beauty, waiting for her response.
Charlotte rarely spoke to Ryder and softly asked, "Why?"
Ryder shook his head. "It's nothing. I just want to remind you to choose your partner carefully and not let external factors blind you."
The implication behind his words was that Chris had character issues.
Naturally, this remark didn't sit well with the classmates, and they started to express their discontent. "Ryder, just shut up. How dare you talk about Chris? Are you even worthy? You thief, pervert!"
"Get lost. Chris treated us to this meal, and you're just taking advantage. Don't delay other people's confessions!"
Ryder spoke up, "I'm not interested in this food anyway. I'm just speaking the truth, that's all!"
Charlotte stared directly at Ryder, several seconds passed before she sighed and disappointingly said, "Ryder, I understand that you've had a difficult time these years, and negative emotions have affected your judgment. It's not your fault, but you're wrong in evaluating Chris like this. He has been really good to me, and you have deeply disappointed me."
Pausing for a moment, Charlotte continued, "I understand what you're thinking. We were young and ignorant before, but now that we've grown up, we should be more sensible. I advise you to give up those unrealistic fantasies."
