Chapter 662 Ryder is Drunk!

The drunken Ryder told Ryan everything honestly.

About Saskia! About the drunk woman! Everything.

Meanwhile, Ryan clearly noticed Sarah's head peeking around the corner on the second floor.

"You're drunk," Ryan said, patting Ryder's shoulder. "Let's get you to bed, and all these troubles will be gone by morning."

Ryan helped the completely intoxicated Ryder upstairs while Sarah, who had been eavesdropping from the corner, quickly vanished.

Ryan smirked to himself. "You're going to owe me big time tonight! As a seasoned player in the game of love, I can fix little spats like yours in minutes!"

Ryder was so drunk he barely knew where he was, but he trusted Ryan enough not to resist as he was led down the hallway.

Ryan delivered Ryder directly to Sarah's bedroom door. When she finally opened it, she put on a show of yawning. She'd already changed out of her sexy nightgown into her usual, more conservative sleepwear.

The smell of alcohol hit her immediately. "Why did you both drink so much?" she frowned.

Ryan smoothly passed Ryder into her arms. "I'm leaving him with you! Just like his father—gets drunk after a few drinks. Such a lightweight!"

"Don't worry, I'll take care of him. You should get some rest too."

Ryan paused before leaving. "Listen, Sarah, I don't know if I should say this, and maybe you won't like hearing it, but Ryder's father was a deeply loyal man. Like father, like son, I always say. Trust is the most important thing between husband and wife!"

"I—"

"That's all I'll say! The rest is up to you two. I won't interfere any further!" With that, Ryan walked away with a flourish.

---

Sarah's whole body supported Ryder's weight as she helped him into the room and closed the door behind them.

"Are you okay?" she asked softly.

Ryder hiccupped in response.

Sarah gave a rueful smile, feeling sympathy as she looked at his furrowed brow. She had heard everything Ryder told Ryan earlier. It was true what they said about alcohol revealing the truth! Whether it was about Saskia or any other woman, Ryder had nothing to hide.

Sarah didn't even know why she'd started feeling so insecure. Because of Ryder's first love? Because of that strange dream? In this moment, she realized she might have been too sensitive.

Ryan was right—trust is the most important thing in a marriage. She shouldn't question their relationship over imaginary concerns.

"I'm sorry," she whispered.

Ryder hiccupped again, then called out, "Sarah, Sarah..."

"You've had so much to drink and you're still thinking of me." Though her words were resigned, hearing him call her name even while drunk filled her heart with sweetness.

She quickly helped him to the bed, then went to the bathroom to get a warm washcloth for his face. When she returned, Ryder grabbed her wrist.

"Honey... don't go... I was wrong," he slurred.

"Wrong? What were you wrong about?" Sarah asked, somewhat amused.

Ryder's voice carried a hint of tears. "I know... Saskia... disappointed you... sorry..."

"If you knew it would disappoint me and did it anyway, aren't you deliberately upsetting me?" Sarah played along.

"But... I can't... can't abandon Saskia!" he continued mumbling. "After what happened... half the responsibility is mine. I was too useless to protect her."

Sarah nodded. "Yes, we should compensate her, but Saskia has other ideas about you."

Suddenly, Ryder buried his face against her. "I only feel guilt toward Saskia... please don't misunderstand... I'm begging you... I only love you."

Sarah's heart softened as she stroked his head. "It's okay, I don't misunderstand. I was just overthinking things."

"Kiss me..." Ryder puckered his lips in his hazy state.

"Are you pretending to be drunk?" Sarah's lips twitched as she pinched his cheek. Ryder didn't react, and his eyes truly showed the heavy influence of alcohol. It didn't seem like he was faking.

"Fine, just one kiss. You're not even aware of what's happening anyway." She gave him a quick peck on the cheek.

To her surprise, Ryder instinctively pulled her into his arms and pressed her beneath him. She panicked instantly. "Your arm is injured! Are you okay?"

She was very concerned about his wound. She'd unwrapped it earlier—the gash was over ten centimeters long, with white flesh exposed. It looked frightening.

"I want... you," Ryder mumbled, dropping his head into the crook of her neck.

Sarah's face turned completely red. "You're going too far! Stop it, your arm is still injured!"

Ryder acted as if he hadn't heard. Sarah didn't dare struggle too hard, afraid of aggravating his injury. After a brief resistance, she gave up.

"Fine! I am your wife, after all," she pouted. "But this is an exception!"

With that, Sarah closed her eyes and leaned up to meet his kiss.

It was bound to be an exhausting night.

---

The next morning, Ryder woke to find Sarah nestled in the crook of his arm. His brain nearly short-circuited.

'What happened?'

Sarah opened her eyes groggily, her face flushed. "You're awake."

"What happened last night?" Ryder quickly withdrew his arm, alarmed.

"You were drunk, and then! Well, exactly what you're thinking happened," Sarah gave a coy smile.

"What?" Ryder's eyes widened.

"Are you trying to avoid responsibility?" she pouted.

"I'm sorry!" Ryder immediately became flustered. "That's not what I meant! Let me explain—I wasn't doing it on purpose, I don't remember anything, I don't know what happened, don't be mad, I—I—"

He could barely string a sentence together.

Sarah burst out laughing. "It's okay! Relax, I was willing! You didn't force me. Besides, we're married—isn't this normal?"

Ryder's ears twitched twice. Did those words really just come from Sarah's mouth? Had he heard correctly?

Or was Ryan right when he said women who act up just need one good night to become completely obedient!
