Chapter 1011 A Lesson
With this in mind, Audrey sternly said, “Dean, do you think simply washing clothes will solve this problem? Do you realize what you’re doing? This is perverse behavior! Your mother might overlook it, and I might tolerate it, but do you think others will? Have you heard the saying, 'He who starts by stealing needles will end up stealing gold'? Today, you dare to do this; tomorrow, at school, you might harass a female classmate. If the police catch you, you’ll regret it, but it’ll be too late. Do you think anyone will save you then? You’ll spend your life in prison, bringing shame to your family. Don’t worry; I’ll visit you on holidays, and I’ll bring my students along so they’ll never forget you as a cautionary tale!”
“Auntie, I was wrong, please stop,” Dean cried out, his face paling as he grasped the seriousness of the situation. “I won’t do it again, please don’t tell my parents or the teacher.”
Seeing his tears, Audrey felt a bit of relief. At least her nephew still knew fear and hadn’t become irredeemable. She sighed and tenderly said, “Dean, it’s not about scaring you. You are the only hope for the family to continue its lineage. I can’t watch you go astray. Your future is long, and you’ll soon start middle school, then high school, and eventually university. There’s a whole world out there waiting for you. Don’t you want to see it? Do you want to live in this small town your entire life like your parents?”
Dean shook his head, tears streaming down his face. “Auntie, I want to be an astronaut and see if there are aliens on the moon.”
Audrey chuckled helplessly, “Wanting to be an astronaut is great, but to become one, you need to know how to operate rockets and have a strong grasp of science and mathematics. You have to study hard and make more effort than others. I hope you someday make it to the moon. Now, go back to bed. I’ll clean up here.”
Dean wiped his tears and left, while Audrey cleaned the semen from her nightgown. She returned to her room, changed into a fresh nightgown, and washed the soiled one along with her underwear, then hung them out to dry. Staring into the dark night outside the window, she exhaled deeply, hoping her nephew would truly understand and change his ways.
The following morning, Audrey packed her suitcase, bid farewell to her parents, and greeted her sister-in-law Molly before stepping out. She headed to her brother’s store, where he would take her to the station on his motorcycle.
“Auntie, are you really leaving?” Dean ran out, his eyes red. “When will you come back? I don’t want you to leave.”
“Silly boy, I’ll be back for the New Year,” Audrey patted his head with a smile. “I have a little present for you, but you should open it after I leave.” She handed him a small black plastic bag from her backpack and then hurriedly left with her long legs striding briskly.
After watching Audrey’s tall, slender figure disappear around the corner, Dean curiously opened the black plastic bag, finding a pair of black lace panties inside—Audrey’s own, now clean and fragrant. There was also a note with elegant handwriting:
“Dean, life is long and should be lived earnestly, yet it is fleeting and should be cherished. I believe you’re a good child who can learn from mistakes and strive forward. You will undoubtedly make it to the moon and become a pride of our nation. Keep the panties as a reminder; if you really can’t hold back, use them instead of stealing others’.”
“Auntie...” Dean sobbed, clutching Audrey’s panties, vowing to study hard and never disappoint her.
Audrey rode with her brother Jerome to the bus station in the county town. “Brother, you should head back now. Don’t let your store’s business suffer,” she said as she got off.
“It’s fine; someone’s looking after it,” Jerome smiled warmly. “Sis, try to come home with Jason for the New Year. Mom and Dad worry because you always come back alone. They’re afraid something might be wrong between you two.”
“I understand, Brother. Jason and I are doing well,” Audrey forced a smile. “I’ll try to bring him back, but his work is very demanding. Not many people from Starhaven come back for the holidays.”
“You two handle your matters; I won’t pry. But you should think about having a child. A child keeps a family stable. Look at me and Molly—we argue and talk about divorce all the time, but if it weren’t for Dean, we might have separated.”
“I understand, Brother.” Audrey hesitated. She was dissatisfied with Molly’s neglectful behavior. Molly spent her days at the game room or at friends' houses playing cards, while her honest and hardworking brother was left vulnerable. Audrey worried Molly might be unfaithful, but knew she couldn’t voice these concerns without causing strife.
The bus to the city soon arrived. Audrey said her goodbyes and boarded. After the bus departed, she sent Kevin a message, letting him know she was on her way and would call upon arrival.
Kevin, overjoyed, cleaned the house thoroughly and turned on the water heater, knowing his cousin would want a shower first. He alternated between doing homework and checking his phone for updates from Audrey, growing increasingly impatient. Eventually, Audrey turned off her phone, deciding to rest, leaving Kevin anxiously watching the clock.
Around 12:30 PM, after waiting eagerly, Kevin finally heard someone knocking. He rushed to the door, where Audrey stood, smiling at him.
“Sis, why didn’t you call me to pick you up?” Kevin grumbled, taking her suitcase.
“There’s no need; it’s only a few minutes’ walk. I’m not a child,” Audrey replied, smiling as she followed Kevin into the living room. Returning to the city and seeing Kevin put her in high spirits, her face aglow with joy.
Unable to contain his longing, Kevin embraced Audrey’s mature, voluptuous body, leaning in to kiss her.
