Chapter 1772
Thinking about how she hadn't been intimate with Kevin for several days, Audrey's heart was filled with desire. Excitedly, she opened the door to the yard, only to be surprised by the sight of a man standing there. It turned out to be her husband's middle school classmate, Stan. Last time Jason was in Harmony County, he invited some classmates over for dinner, and Stan was among them. When her husband went to Imperial City, Stan even gave him a ride.
"Stan, what brings you here?" Audrey furrowed her brows slightly. Despite Stan's warmth, she had a cool personality and didn't like overly familiar people.
"Audrey, it's almost New Year's," Stan said cheerfully, lifting the bag in his hand. "Since Jason isn't home, I thought you might be feeling lonely, so I brought you a little gift."
"Stan, you're too kind, there's no need," Audrey quickly refused. She couldn't possibly accept anything from Stan.
"Audrey, don't be so formal with me. Jason and I are good friends. Since he's not home, I feel responsible for taking care of you," Stan insisted, walking inside with the gifts. Audrey couldn't bring herself to stop him and followed him into the living room, pondering his intentions.
"Audrey, when is Jason coming back?" Stan asked as he placed the items on the table, his eyes fixed on the alluring figure of this mature and beautiful woman before him. Audrey, in a black nightgown, stood proudly with her breasts swaying gently, her slender waist and voluptuous hips exuding charm. Her delicate features were as captivating as a rose, and her nightgown revealed two long, slender legs, exuding a myriad of allure that stirred something within him.
Since the last time he saw Audrey, Stan had been thinking about how to get intimate with her. Being young and alone at home with her husband away, Audrey was vulnerable to temptation. "I want to fuck you," he murmured to himself, feeling his heart race and his desire grow.
Feeling uneasy under Stan's intense gaze, Audrey didn't know what to say. She regretted not changing into something less revealing. Her nightgown was too thin, showing her bra underneath. "What kind of enjoyment are you talking about? It's better if he comes back sooner," she said calmly.
"Yeah, Jason really should be here. He's leaving such a good woman like you alone and going so far away," Stan remarked. "Actually, you can make money in Harmony County too. Look at me, my salary and bonuses add up to over ten thousand dollars this year. I also do some small business on the side, making another seventy to eighty thousand dollars. It's not bad."
"Wow, that's quite a lot," Audrey nodded. If Stan wasn't bragging, his income was considered high in Harmony County, where the average monthly salary was only three to four thousand dollars.
Most people in Harmony County, like restaurant servers and security guards, earned even less. Audrey herself earned five thousand dollars a month, which was already enviable in the county. Wealthy individuals like Natalie were rare in Harmony County, where ninety-nine percent of the population struggled to make ends meet.
Stan was pleased with himself and continued, "Audrey, don't worry. If Jason's not around, just give me a call if you need anything. These are nutritional supplements I bought specifically for you to take care of your health. Teaching at school every day is tough, so you must take care of yourself."
"Thank you, Stan, for being so considerate," Audrey said, watching as Stan took out item after item from the bag. Calculating, she estimated the value of these items to be at least two to three thousand dollars. Feeling even more uneasy, she softly said, "But these things are too expensive. I appreciate your kindness, but please take them back. I really can't accept them."
"Audrey, don't be so polite. This amount of money is nothing to me," Stan quickly replied. "Besides, I didn't spend much. I used gift cards given to me by others to buy these. I can't use them all by myself, and since I've already bought them, I can't return them."
"Well, you can give them to your relatives and friends then," Audrey suggested, unmoved. She didn't want to take things from him for no reason.
Stan changed his approach upon seeing Audrey's hesitation. "Audrey, let me be honest with you. Back when Jason and I were in school together, I used to be bullied by a boy in our class. Jason even got into a fight with him. If it weren't for Jason helping me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This little gift is nothing compared to that. If you don't accept it, I'll go buy more tomorrow until you do."
"Alright then," Audrey, lacking social experience, had no choice but to compromise. She thought she could tell Jason about it later and return the money to him when he returned to Harmony County.
Seeing Audrey finally agree to accept the gifts, Stan was overjoyed. There always had to be a breakthrough between a man and a woman. As long as he had the opportunity, he believed he could seize it and make Audrey fall for him completely, allowing him to enjoy her exquisite breasts.
However, Stan didn't leave after leaving the gifts. Instead, he sat on the sofa and started chatting with Audrey.
Audrey, being thin-skinned and considering that Stan was her husband's classmate who had brought her gifts, couldn't bring herself to ask him to leave. She had to endure his company.
As the sky darkened, Audrey couldn't sit still any longer. Pretending to check the time, she was surprised to say, "It's already six in the evening. It's time to cook. Stan, why don't you stay for dinner?"
Normally, any guest would understand that the host wasn't genuinely inviting them and would politely decline. However, Stan, without hesitation, nodded and said, "Sure, Audrey, your cooking is amazing. I get to taste your cooking again today."
Audrey's expression soured instantly. She almost cursed. Stan's audacity was too much. How could he not understand basic social etiquette? With just herself at home, how could he have the nerve to stay?
But Audrey was soft-spoken. If it were Grace, she would have kicked him out long ago.
"Alright, I'll go buy groceries. It might take a while. Please wait here," Audrey said, feeling irritated even though she had a good temper. She walked to the bedroom, feeling frustrated. If only Kevin were home, he was good at dealing with such people. Unfortunately, Kevin was at Grace's house.
She changed into a coat and walked out of the bedroom. Seeing Stan playing on his phone on the sofa without any intention of leaving, she greeted him and went to the market to buy groceries. She thought of delaying Stan for a while but worried that it might not look good on her.
Audrey hurried back after buying a few items, planning to cook a simple meal to get rid of him. She vowed never to let him in again.
As she reached the alley's entrance, she saw her neighbor Christopher heading out. "Christopher, are you going out?" she asked.
"Oh, Audrey," Christopher chuckled. "Violet is on the night shift, and I'm too lazy to cook. I'm going out to grab something quick. Are you going home to cook?"
"Yeah," Audrey, in a bad mood, didn't want to talk much. After taking a few steps, she suddenly turned back and called out to Christopher, hesitating, "Christopher, why don't you come over for dinner at my place?"
"Huh!" Christopher was taken aback, wondering if he misheard. Audrey inviting him for dinner at her place was strange.
Seeing Audrey's charming face, his previously calm heart suddenly stirred. Had Audrey finally realized that a mature man like himself was more attractive than Kevin, the immature boy?
"Audrey, is that appropriate? Your husband isn't home, and I come over for dinner. Are you not worried about gossip?" Christopher was eager to accept but cautious due to past setbacks.
"It's fine. Jason has a classmate visiting," Audrey explained, complaining about Stan's reluctance to leave. "He's been sitting here for ages, and I didn't want to kick him out. Christopher, can you help me out?"
Christopher's excitement dampened a bit, realizing he had misinterpreted the situation. But hearing Audrey's pleading tone, he felt happy and agreed, "Audrey, don't worry. Watch me handle this. I'll make sure he won't dare to bother you again."
The two returned home, and when Stan saw Audrey bringing a man home, he hesitated and asked, "Audrey, who is this?"
Before Audrey could introduce him, Christopher stepped forward, shaking Stan's hand with a smile. "I'm Audrey's neighbor, working at the county government. You're Jason's classmate, right? Where did you go to high school?"
"Oh, I work at the Safety Supervision Bureau," Stan was a bit confused. He had been thinking of a romantic dinner with Audrey that evening, but now there was another unexpected guest. What was going on?
"I've met the director of the Safety Supervision Bureau. We had dinner together a few days ago," Christopher, being a bit of a braggart at the county government, engaged Stan in a conversation covering various topics, leaving Stan feeling overwhelmed.
