Chapter 1580
After Audrey shot him a look, Kevin reluctantly withdrew his foot, abandoning his attempt to explore further. He didn’t want to push Audrey’s boundaries, especially with Jason back home for the week. He figured he’d have plenty of opportunities later on.
Following lunch, Jason headed back to his room to catch up on sleep. After spending over a day on the train and having a restless night at Gabe’s, he was beyond exhausted. Once home, he collapsed onto his bed and fell into a deep slumber.
Audrey told Kevin to go to bed in his room and began clearing the table, planning to reheat the leftovers for dinner to avoid cooking again.
After tidying up the kitchen, she went to the bathroom to wash the clothes Jason had changed out of. Upon opening the washing machine, she noticed her underwear stained with Kevin’s semen, feeling a bit flustered. She wondered if Jason had spotted it while showering.
Quickly washing the underwear, Audrey meticulously checked the bathroom to ensure no traces were left behind, given that she and Kevin had gotten intimate in there a few times.
Once done with the laundry, Audrey thought about taking a nap in her room out of habit. But as she reached the door, the thought of Jason sleeping inside gave her a strange feeling, almost like a stranger occupying the space, causing her to hesitate.
She turned and headed to Kevin's room, thinking of striking up a conversation with him. However, recalling Kevin's earlier behavior under the table, she hesitated about being alone with him, worried he might act impulsively. In that moment, she decided it was best not to provoke him.
Audrey felt a mix of amusement and frustration. Her husband was back, yet she had nowhere to rest. After some contemplation, she settled on lying down on the couch, pondering her predicament for the upcoming days. Unable to sleep, she grabbed her phone and received a message from Alissa, who wanted to meet up.
Reading the message, Audrey displayed a helpless expression. She knew Alissa was actually interested in Kevin. It was the weekend, and Alissa hated being alone.
She responded to Alissa, mentioning Jason's return and the inconvenience. After a while, Alissa messaged back to arrange a meet-up for another time when Audrey was free.
Feeling the need for someone to talk to, Audrey agreed to meet Alissa at the mall entrance on Cedar Street. She changed into different clothes, slipped on some high heels, and stealthily made her way out.
Jason awoke in the late afternoon, discovering that lunch had turned cold. Feeling parched, he wanted Audrey to get him some water, only to realize she wasn't in the bedroom.
He got up and searched the living room, bathroom, and kitchen, but Audrey was nowhere to be seen, furrowing his brows in confusion.
Suddenly, Jason noticed the closed door of Kevin’s room across the hall. He wondered if Audrey was in there, a pang of jealousy seizing him. After all, he had expected Audrey to be with him, not sneaking off to Kevin’s room. They had been married for over three years, and he couldn’t believe their bond was weaker than whatever Audrey had with Kevin.
Approaching Kevin’s room, Jason strained to listen in on Audrey and Kevin’s conversation. Instead, he heard faint sounds of a woman’s moans and some kind of physical interaction.
Jason’s mind went blank as he envisioned an infuriating scene: the alluring Audrey lay naked on the bed, legs spread, while Kevin was intimately involved with her.
Could this nightmare be real? Had Audrey truly betrayed him with her own cousin?
Shocked and livid, Jason remembered Kevin’s hostile look earlier and Audrey’s odd behavior. He suspected they might have been having an affair long before he suggested Kevin move out. Rage surged within Jason, his eyes blazing with fury as he stormed into the room, ready to catch them in the act.
But to his surprise, Audrey was nowhere to be found in the room. Only Kevin sat at the desk, engrossed in a video on his phone. The moans Jason heard were from the video.
"Jason... this is..." Kevin jumped, quickly closing the video on his phone, looking embarrassed as he faced Jason. After waking up in the afternoon and finding Audrey gone, he had been bored after finishing his work and clicked on a link Albert had sent him, leading to an adult video. Jason had walked in at the worst moment.
"Oh! You’re on your phone. I thought someone else was here." Even more embarrassed, Jason never expected Kevin to watch such content. He waved his hand, sternly saying, "Keep it down next time, and don’t let Audrey catch you. It’s better to watch less of that stuff; it can affect your studies. Save it for college."
"Okay, Jason, I get it. I was just curious and clicked on it randomly," Kevin chuckled, not taking it too seriously. Since moving into Audrey’s house, he hadn’t really watched adult videos much. Why watch videos when you could have the real deal? Plus, the actresses in those videos didn’t have curves like Audrey’s. The only thing was their voices sounded sultry. However, he was surprised by Jason’s reaction. If Audrey had a problem with Kevin, how could she have been intimate with him right after Jason returned home? Unless she was looking for a divorce.
Regarding Kevin watching adult content, it wasn't a big deal. Like any teenage boy, he had gone through puberty, curious about intimacy. Sneaking into video stores to watch adult tapes was part of his past. In college, masturbating in the dorm was common, and Kevin had probably been doing it for a while. It was a way to release stress and avoid potential issues.
Jason called Audrey in the bedroom and found out she was out shopping with Alissa. Relieved, Jason trusted Alissa, knowing her as a mature and responsible teacher. He was concerned about Audrey spending time with young, party-loving teachers and getting carried away.
Getting a message from Kassy, Jason closed the bedroom door and called her to see what she was up to.
"I'm doing overtime at the office. There's a new assistant manager who's a real pain. He wants me to reorganize all the previous business data. Apparently, his dad is a big shot, and now everyone in the company is working late," Kassy said. "Jason, when are you coming back? I miss you."
"I just got back today. I'll be around for four or five days," Jason replied, feeling desire as he heard Kassy's sweet voice. "Kassy, hang in there a bit longer. I'll be back soon."
"Meanie, I hate sleeping alone. I need your hug," Kassy pouted. "Jason, I want us to be close again. Hurry back."
Thinking of Kassy's tempting allure, Jason couldn't help but feel aroused. He wished he could fly back to Imperial City, but he hadn't accomplished his mission for this visit yet.
After a lengthy chat with Kassy, Jason reluctantly ended the call and started reaching out to his former classmates.
On the second floor of the mall, Audrey finished her call, and Alissa approached with a sly grin. "What's the deal? Is Jason onto you?"
"No, he probably just woke up and called to check on me," Audrey replied casually.
"Your place is buzzing with activity now," Alissa noted with amusement. "Three people under one roof. What's the plan?"
"What do you mean, what's the plan?" Audrey asked, puzzled.
"At night, who are you going to bunk with? Your hubby or Kevin?" Alissa teased with a mischievous smile.
"I guess I'm stuck with Jason," Audrey retorted, giving Alissa a look. This woman seemed to think Audrey didn't have enough on her plate already.
"What about Kevin? Seeing his girl in another man's arms, his heart must be shattered," Alissa remarked.
"Don't be so dramatic. Are you watching too many soap operas?" Audrey blushed slightly, worried about Kevin's feelings going astray. Helplessly, she said, "Alissa, what's your suggestion? I can't crash on the couch alone."
"It's a dilemma. How about splitting the night, half with your husband and half with Kevin?" Alissa proposed..
"No way," Audrey blushed, shaking her head vigorously. Alissa's idea was preposterous; she couldn't stoop to juggling two men.
"Well, then I'm out of ideas. Maybe you could crash at the school dorms for a bit. You have your own office now, so you can say you're swamped with work and need to stay late. Once Jason leaves, you can move back," Alissa suggested.
"I'm not sure about that," Audrey hesitated, finding Alissa's idea somewhat plausible. "Jason just dropped by for a visit, and if I vanish, what will he think? Plus, I'm worried about leaving Kevin and Jason alone."
"What's the worry? Afraid they'll duel over you?" Alissa rolled her eyes, seeing Audrey's concern. She put an arm around Audrey's shoulder and said, "Okay, relax. If nothing else works, have Kevin go back to his place for a few days. He's been monopolizing your time for long enough; it's time for you and Jason to have some space. If you can't bring it up, I'll talk to Kevin."
"Thanks, Alissa." Audrey expressed her gratitude. Truth be told, she wasn't keen on alone time with Jason. Her heart belonged to Kevin, and she couldn't bear to let him go.
