Chapter 730 The Targeted Busty Married Woman
Audrey hung up the phone, feeling suspicious. Alissa's state didn't seem right, as if she was doing some exercise. Could she be making love with her husband? But it wasn't nighttime, and Alissa's relationship with her husband wasn't so passionate that they couldn't wait until daylight.
Suddenly, Audrey's heart skipped a beat. Alissa had mentioned during their shopping trip in the morning that she was going to Kevin's house for lunch. It was only a little past three in the afternoon; how could she have returned home so quickly? Alissa must have been having sex with Kevin.
Realizing this, Audrey felt a mix of anger and jealousy. She was upset because Kevin had just been intimate with her and then immediately turned to Alissa. This was typical behavior of a heartless player.
However, Audrey couldn't blame Kevin too harshly. After all, he was just a high school student who didn't understand loyalty yet. It was normal for him to be infatuated with sex.
Moreover, as a married woman, Audrey had no right to blame Kevin. Ultimately, Kevin was just her cousin, while she was the one betraying her husband.
In a way, Audrey felt relieved. With Alissa satisfying Kevin's desires, it would take some pressure off her, preventing Kevin from being unsatisfied and potentially falling into the clutches of someone like Vanessa.
Audrey also found it odd. If Bethany had invited Alissa over for lunch, why would she leave Alissa and Kevin alone? Something must have happened to Bethany. Audrey took out her phone and called Bethany.
"Hello, Audrey, what's up?" Bethany's voice sounded normal.
"Auntie, are you at home?" Audrey asked.
"Oh, don't mention it. I invited Kevin's homeroom teacher, Mrs. Garcia, for lunch, but then there was a fire inspection. I had to go to the store to handle it, and I can't leave yet."
So that's it, Audrey thought. No wonder Alissa was so bold; Bethany had left early due to an emergency. Audrey couldn't help but say, "Auntie, that's not right. You shouldn't leave your guests like that. How about I go to the store and help you out so you can go home?"
"Oh, that's too much trouble for you," Bethany laughed. "I can't let you watch the store for me."
"Auntie, don't be so polite. I'm near the supermarket; I'll be there in five minutes," Audrey said, hanging up and hurrying towards the supermarket.
She didn't know why she wanted Bethany to hurry home. Maybe it was because she felt uncomfortable with Kevin and Alissa being intimate behind her back. She didn't want Kevin to get too carried away and wanted to warn Alissa that Kevin wasn't hers alone.
Women's jealousy can be hard to understand. Audrey knew she shouldn't ruin Alissa and Kevin's moment. After all, Alissa and Kevin had been involved for a while, and Alissa was her closest colleague at school, always caring for her like a big sister.
But thinking about Alissa's suppressed, excited breathing made Audrey feel envious, as if something precious to her was being taken away.
She knew that if she let go of her reservations and fully gave herself to Kevin, he would be devoted to her. But every time she considered it, her husband's image would flash in her mind.
After all, Lucas hadn't done anything wrong. Many people worked far away, only coming home once or twice a year, leaving their wives to take care of the family.
The real issue was that Audrey couldn't let go of her teaching job. While people in big cities might not value teaching, in this small, remote county, being a teacher was the best job for someone without family connections. It had high social status, stability, and summer and winter vacations.
Especially since Oliver became the school principal, the teachers' benefits had been improving. This year, they even started building staff apartments. Everyone's morale was high.
At twenty-six, Audrey had already been promoted quickly. As long as Oliver remained principal, she expected to advance further in a few years. Many teachers worked their whole lives without a promotion, as competition at the school board level was fierce.
If Audrey followed Lucas to Starhaven, all her hard work would be wasted, and she'd have to start over.
Even if Lucas made a lot of money, Audrey didn't want to be a rich housewife who only knew how to shop and couldn't live without her husband. She wanted her own career, not just to be a housewife focused on her husband and children.
This was the biggest disagreement between Audrey and Lucas. They had argued countless times but couldn't convince each other.
This time, Audrey planned to visit Starhaven to discuss it with Lucas face-to-face. One of them had to compromise, or their family would fall apart.
Lost in thought, Audrey walked towards the supermarket.
Audrey swayed her hips as she hurried into the supermarket, heading upstairs to find Bethany. Suddenly, her phone rang.
It was Angus calling. She hesitated before answering, politely saying, "Hello, Director."
"Mrs. Johnson, are you on vacation?" Angus's voice was friendly.
"Yes, we are," Audrey replied, frowning slightly, unsure why Angus was asking.
"Oh, the city education bureau's director wants to meet me for dinner tonight. It's a private gathering. Do you have time to join us and meet the director?"
Hearing this, Audrey's heart skipped a beat. The director Angus mentioned was Conrad, the head of the city education bureau, a highly respected figure in the city's education community.
Audrey had been a teacher for several years and had only heard Conrad speak at a large conference during a young teacher training session. She had never spoken to him, let alone dined with him privately.
For an ordinary teacher like Audrey, meeting Conrad could greatly benefit her career. If Vanessa had this opportunity, she would undoubtedly accept without hesitation.
"Director, I'm sorry, but I plan to visit Starhaven in a few days. I have a lot of school matters to handle and can't leave. Thank you for the invitation," Audrey said, biting her lip. She knew Angus was trying to help her build connections, but she couldn't accept his offer. Some things, once started, couldn't be stopped.
"Oh, no problem. I didn't consider that," Angus laughed heartily. "By the way, Mrs. Johnson, has your evaluation material been submitted to the education bureau? I haven't seen your file."
"It should have been submitted," Audrey said hesitantly. "I'm not sure. The school has already announced it, and my name is on the list."
"How about you check with your school leadership? If it has been submitted, I'll ask the director about it tonight. Let me know after you check," Angus said.
"Okay, Director." Audrey hung up, her fair and delicate face showing a hint of hesitation. She didn't want to call Oliver, but Angus had made it clear. If she refused, it would seem ungrateful. Angus was trying to help, and she had to accept.
