"What are you delivering, sneaking around like that? Look how you scared my cousin," Kevin said disdainfully, snatching the plastic bag and throwing it into the nearby drain. "Get out of here. Don't let me see you again, or I'll beat you up."
"My stuff!" Sean cried, almost in tears. The bag contained expensive cosmetics he'd taken from his mother's room, worth thousands. He'd brought them to please Audrey, but Kevin had thrown them away. Seeing Kevin ready to fight and Audrey hiding behind him, not acknowledging him, Sean left dejectedly.
"Sis, are you okay?" Kevin asked, seeing Audrey pale and trembling. He was puzzled. Although Sean's presence was startling, it was broad daylight, and he was there. Why was she so scared? Did Sean do something despicable to her?
Kevin's mind raced with unpleasant thoughts, and he felt a surge of anger. He shouldn't have let Sean go so easily. He needed to teach him a lesson.
"I'm fine," Audrey said, instinctively leaning into Kevin's embrace, looking around nervously. The terrifying nightmare from last night resurfaced in her mind.
Seeing this, Kevin quickly took the keys from Audrey's pocket, opened the door, and led her into the living room. He let her sit on the sofa and angrily said, "It's all Sean's fault. Did he bully you?"

Although Kevin felt his cousin was acting strangely, he obediently sat beside Audrey. She leaned into his embrace, feeling the warmth of his broad chest and the steady beat of his heart, finally feeling safe and secure. She had never felt such a need for Kevin.
