Chapter 621 Aunt's Entrustment
In the living room, there was a commotion. Kevin and Audrey quickly walked out of the bedroom to see Bethany returning. Bethany smiled and said, "Audrey, it's late. Why don't you stay here for the night? We can chat. By the way, Kevin didn't cause any trouble at home, did he?"
"No, I've been watching him do his homework. Auntie, you can rest assured. I believe Kevin will do well on his final exams this time," Audrey said with a smile, glancing at Kevin. Kevin felt a warm feeling in his heart, knowing that Audrey was covering for him. He couldn't help but grab Audrey's hand from behind and playfully tickle her palm with his fingers.
"Really? Then I can relax," Bethany said contentedly. "I'm busy with the shop's affairs now and don't have time to supervise him. Besides, I can't understand their high school courses anymore, let alone tutor him. You'll have to take care of him more in the future."
"Auntie, don't be so polite with me. It's what I should do," Audrey replied, holding Kevin's hand behind her back to prevent him from fidgeting. She continued, "I don't have many relatives, and you are the closest person to me. Besides, Kevin is my cousin. Of course, I have to help him."
Even if Audrey and Kevin didn't have that cousin relationship, she would still wholeheartedly help Kevin. Their relationship had surpassed mere cousinhood, and she was determined to improve Kevin's grades even further for her own peace of mind.
"Kevin, it's getting late. Go to bed," Bethany dismissed Kevin, then took Audrey's hand and led her into her own bedroom. Seeing Audrey's chest being tightly squeezed by her clothes, Bethany chuckled and said, "My clothes must be too small for you."
Audrey blushed and replied softly, "It's okay."
"What do you mean 'it's okay'? I wear a C cup, and you're at least an E cup. This outfit definitely doesn't fit you," Bethany said with a slight smile. "I brought you a nightgown from the shop. Quickly change into it. It's uncomfortable to wear this all the time."
She handed Audrey a plastic bag containing a black camisole nightgown. Audrey took off her current nightgown and put on the black camisole, making her fair skin appear even more radiant. Her chest looked fuller and slightly tight in the new outfit.
"Is it still tight? This is already the largest size I have," Bethany said, reaching out to touch Audrey's chest and jokingly added, "With so much flesh here, I bet it's hard to find bras that fit you."
Audrey, feeling a bit embarrassed, asked, "Auntie, is it too big here?"
"Don't worry about it," Bethany smiled and looked at Audrey's ample bosom, saying, "Others wish they could be bigger. But at school, you should be mindful of your attire. Especially since Jason isn't home, being a single woman might attract gossip. Some people with ill intentions might cause trouble. Women are naturally vulnerable, especially someone as beautiful as you. Learn to protect yourself."
"Auntie, I understand," Audrey replied, her eyes welling up. She was often alone and had no one to share such intimate conversations with. Bethany's words touched her deeply, but she also felt guilty. Bethany was so good to her, yet she had crossed boundaries with Kevin, which she knew was unfair to Bethany.
Bethany sat Audrey down on the bed, sighed, and said, "Audrey, it's not easy for you to be separated from your husband so soon after marriage. But Jason did it for your future. If you ever feel down, come talk to me. Keeping things bottled up can lead to illness. Understand?"
Audrey nodded, choking back tears. "Auntie, thank you. I've always wanted someone to talk to, but it's not appropriate to talk to anyone. I've gotten used to keeping things to myself, even though it's hard. I realize that no matter how tough it is for me, it's even tougher for you. Raising Kevin alone all these years, I can't imagine how hard it must have been. If it were me, I probably wouldn't have been able to endure it."
Bethany chuckled softly, "It's not about me. I've already gone through the toughest times. Now that Kevin is more sensible, I just hope to give his father an account when he goes to college. I don't think too much about anything else, just trying to earn more money to pay for Kevin's tuition."
Audrey hesitated and said, "Auntie, you're still young. You can't keep living like this. Have you ever thought about remarrying? At least you'll have someone to discuss things with when needed."
"Forget it, I'm over forty. What's the point of finding another man? I'm not afraid of being laughed at," Bethany sighed softly. "Besides, with a child like Kevin, who would be interested in me? Even if someone is willing, I worry they might not treat Kevin well. I don't want to find a stepfather for Kevin. He's a child with a strong sense of pride and a stubborn temper. I'm increasingly unsure how to educate him. Audrey, you're his cousin, not much older than him, and you're a teacher. In the future, please help me keep an eye on him. He'll listen to you."
