Chapter 811: The Trip to Starhaven (05)**

George fetched some water from the communal washroom, placed it on the electric stove to boil, and struck up a conversation with Audrey. Upon learning that Audrey was a high school teacher and had come to visit Lucas during her summer vacation, he said enviously, "Dave, you teachers have it good. You get two vacations a year. My wife is stuck at home taking care of the kids and can't get away. I can only go back to see her for a few days during the New Year. Usually, we just talk on the phone. You should spend more time with Lucas while you're here. He always talks about you, saying how great you are. I didn't believe him at first, thought he was bragging. But seeing you today, I realize he wasn't exaggerating at all. You're even more beautiful than he described, like a princess."

Audrey felt a bit embarrassed, finding George quite amusing. She chuckled and said, "Being a teacher isn't as easy as you think. We're busy with classes, and we have to prepare lessons on weekends. Sometimes we even have to attend training sessions during vacations. By the way, which room do you stay in?"

"Oh, I share a room with Lucas," George said with a hearty laugh, pointing to the bed beside Lucas's. "This is my bed. But we're both usually busy and don't spend much time in the dorm, so we don't tidy up much."

Audrey was taken aback. She had assumed Lucas had the room to himself. Now she was worried about how they would manage the sleeping arrangements. She couldn't possibly sleep in the same room as George, even though he seemed honest and straightforward, unlike the men she had seen downstairs. She couldn't take any risks.

Yet, she couldn't just ask George to leave. After all, it was a double room. As she was pondering this dilemma, George rolled up his bedding and, with a grin, said, "Dave, you must be tired after traveling all day. Get some rest. Lucas will be back tomorrow."

"Where will you sleep?" Audrey asked, feeling a bit awkward.

"Don't worry about me. I'll find a place downstairs. It's cooler in the courtyard anyway," George said, heading for the door. "Dave, don't forget to light the mosquito coil. There are lots of mosquitoes here, and they love to bite."

Audrey watched George leave the room and felt a pang of guilt. He would undoubtedly be bitten by mosquitoes in the courtyard, but she couldn't let him stay in the room. She decided she would have a word with Lucas tomorrow about better arrangements. For now, she had to make do. She drew the curtains, lit a mosquito coil, and locked the door. Still feeling uneasy, she placed a beer bottle upright by the door so she would hear if anyone tried to enter during the night. The courtyard was full of people, and she couldn't be too careful.

Exhausted from the day's journey, Audrey lay down on Lucas's bed without even changing her clothes. Her mind, however, was too active to let her sleep. Images of the day's events played like a movie in her head: saying a tearful goodbye to Kevin, meeting the charming Dave, the train breaking down, witnessing the bald man and his girlfriend being intimate, being violated in her sleep, encountering Niu Yuming at the train station, having to help him masturbate when the car broke down, and finally meeting Harry. It had been a rough day, but at least she was safe now.

As the faces of the men she had encountered faded in her mind, one face remained: Kevin's, with tears streaming down his face, looking at her in despair. The thought tore at Audrey's heart.

She reached under her pillow for her phone, intending to send Kevin a message to let him know she had arrived safely. But as she composed the message, she hesitated. Now that she was in Starhaven, she needed to put the past behind her. Sending the message would only give Kevin false hope. If she reconciled with her husband, she couldn't continue her relationship with Kevin. Audrey wasn't the type of woman who could juggle relationships with multiple men. She couldn't even manage a situation like Zhang Li's, maintaining a family while enjoying forbidden pleasures with Kevin.

Kevin hadn't called or messaged her since yesterday, perhaps realizing their relationship had reached a crossroads. One path led left, the other right. It was best to let everything go. Tomorrow was a new day. Audrey put her phone back under the pillow and buried her face in it, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I'm sorry, Kevin. We should never have started. You have a bright future ahead, and I have my family. We must go our separate ways."

Suddenly, a loud noise jolted her awake.

"Who's there?" Audrey shouted towards the door, hearing footsteps in the hallway. She rushed to the door and saw it had been pushed open slightly, the beer bottle knocked over. Someone had indeed tried to enter. She quickly locked the door again and shut the windows tightly, her heart pounding. She sat on the bed, too scared to sleep, and texted Lucas, asking when he would be back.

Lucas called her almost immediately. "Honey, why aren't you asleep yet? Missing me already?"

"Lucas, what's going on over there? When will you be back?" Audrey asked, trying to keep her fear in check.

"Don't ask. We were supposed to deliver goods tonight, but the boss canceled last minute. I've been waiting for nothing. I'm heading back now and should be there by morning. Just get some sleep. By the way, I forgot to tell George to find another place to stay. You're not sharing a room with him, are you?"

"Of course not. Do you think that's possible?" Audrey said, annoyed. "George took his bedding and went to sleep elsewhere. You should have made better arrangements. If I knew you weren't prepared, I wouldn't have come."

"Honey, I'm sorry. I was planning to book a suite at a nearby hotel for us, but the rooms are all booked. With everything going on, I forgot. I'll sort it out tomorrow. I promise you won't be uncomfortable."

Audrey sighed, her anger dissipating. "Forget it. No need to fuss. I'm fine here. You're working hard to earn money; no need to waste it. Just be careful driving back."

"I know, honey. I can't wait to see you. I've missed you so much," Lucas said excitedly. They chatted for a while longer before reluctantly hanging up.

Feeling a bit more at ease, Audrey wondered who had tried to enter the room. It could have been anyone in the crowded courtyard, especially the men she had seen earlier. Or maybe even George? After her recent experiences, she couldn't trust any man easily. She wrapped herself in a blanket and sat on the bed, intending to stay awake until morning. At some point, she dozed off.

"Darling, open the door," a voice called, waking Audrey from her sleep. It sounded like Lucas. She jumped up, opened the door, and saw a tall man with dark skin, thick eyebrows, and a handsome face standing there, grinning with a row of white teeth. It was Lucas.

"Lucas, you're back," Audrey said, feeling a strange sense of unfamiliarity with the man she had shared a bed with for so long.

"Honey, I missed you so much," Lucas said, pulling Audrey into a tight embrace. Feeling her soft, full body against his chest and smelling her familiar scent, he was overcome with desire and leaned in to kiss her.

"Stop it, you stink," Audrey said, turning her head away. "Go take a shower first. You smell like smoke."

"Alright, I'll go," Lucas said, a bit embarrassed. He knew his wife was a bit of a neat freak. He grabbed a washbasin and towel and hurried to the washroom.

Audrey bit her lip, feeling conflicted. She had expected to be happy to see her husband, but his embrace had made her feel uncomfortable, almost guilty, as if she were betraying someone. But how could that be? Lucas was her husband.

When Lucas returned, freshly washed, he closed the door and looked at Audrey's alluring figure. He wrapped his arms around her waist and said eagerly, "Honey, I've missed you so much. I've been so pent up. Let me make love to you."

"What are you doing? It's broad daylight," Audrey said, blushing and resisting slightly. "Aren't you afraid someone will see us? Let's wait until tonight."

"Don't worry. Everyone's out working during the day. The courtyard is empty. It's the perfect time," Lucas said, kissing her face and groping her hips through her jeans, his erection pressing against her.

Audrey felt uneasy but couldn't bear to refuse her husband's advances after being apart for so long. She allowed him to undress her, revealing her lacy bra and the full, white breasts that many men had longed to see. Now, they were about to be enjoyed by the man before her.
